When it comes to the competition in the field of art, compared with the ones in Europe and America, not to mention the old British Empire, Australia is a bit shy. But the New South Wales Art Gallery in Sydney is still worth a visit. After all, there are Van Gogh, Monet, Rubens and Picasso's originals, and compared to the overcrowded famous museums, there is simply a place to for illusion. The Art Gallery of New South Wales is next to the Royal Botanic Gardens, which are mainly composed of works of Australian native art from the 19th and 20th centuries – to be honest, the standards of these works are not too high. The treasure of the town hall is the works of the masters of Picasso and Monet and Van Gogh placed near the entrance. By the way, there is also a Chinese porcelain museum, which mainly houses some Song Jin and porcelain artifacts from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Stroll around Sydney's most beautiful art galleries
Visit the art galleries in Sydney~ The Art Gallery of New South Wales is one of the three major art galleries in Australia, located near the Circular Quay in Sydney city. It's a great place to see exhibitions in Sydney and an essential stop on Sydney's Citywalk.
The Art Gallery of New South Wales is divided into the old and new buildings. The old building (Southern Gallery) was built in 1871 and displays the finest art works from various periods of Australia, as well as some European and Asian masterpieces. There are also many Aboriginal Australian art works, which serve as a window to understand the indigenous art and culture of the Australian continent. The most important three art awards in the Australian art community are judged here each year, and the winning works are also exhibited here.
The new building (Northern Gallery) was completed at the end of 2022. It's more visually striking. The open-style giant modern art sculptures seem to exist independently, yet they echo the city's architecture from afar. The art pieces displayed inside cover both domestic and international modern fashion and classical artworks, always providing plenty of artistic inspiration and ideas, and are worth taking the time to explore in detail.
ps: The XO sauce crab noodles at the new gallery's restaurant are highly recommended, very much catering to Asian tastes.

The Sydney Art Hall, a free grand exhibition worth visiting
I've been to Sydney several times, and it was a coincidence
This is my first time entering the Art Gallery of New South Wales
It was established in 1872
Initially as an art school, it later became an art gallery
As one of the outstanding art halls
The building itself is worth seeing.
👀 The exhibition hall is divided into north and south galleries
This time I mainly wandered around the modern and contemporary art exhibition halls in the south building
If you have time, you can go to the north building, which is more modern.
👀 Highlights
In addition to historical masterpieces from various eras
You can see the originals by Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso
There are also many modern art installations worth stopping for
At the same time, there is a sub-exhibition area here
Highlighting the indigenous people's profound understanding of the universe
Exploring their relationship with nature and the universe through art works

If you just want to visit one museum in Sydney you should pick this one. There’s a large and diverse collection to be found from different eras. There are some big pieces that are really worth looking at. The building itself is also great. You walk easily into the botanical garden next to the museum. Had a great afternoon even that the weather wasn’t great.
Admission is free except from the special collection.

Sydney Kandinsky & Louise Bourgeois Double Exhibition
🎨Kandinsky & Louise Bourgeois🗿
Louise Bourgeois's exhibition is composed of day and night parts.
The daytime part of the work feels like a record of everything that happens in the secular world, resistance and venting. In the sharp and peaceful emotions, there are some philosophical thoughts and expressions.
The night part is very dark, the air conditioning is very cold, some exhibits are displayed in not particularly obvious places, when encountered, it is like a strange thought suddenly pops up in your heart and brain one day, making people shudder. Every once in a while, a video with very abundant emotions and very large volume will be played. I stayed in the exhibition hall at night for less than ten minutes and fled quickly. I came out and sunbathed for half an hour before the goose bumps went down.
Every day at 12:00, 14:00, and Wednesday at 18:30, there are free Kandinsky guides. Maybe it's free, this guide I think is not as exciting as the audio guide, compared to many museum art museum official guided tours I paid for before, it's really a bit worse.
The exhibits are really good! Especially like Kandinsky's later works. I don't know if it's because the war is over or moved to live near Paris, the same crazy shimmering but can't see the kind of moldy spots. The color matching is more relaxed and harmonious, it feels very happy, very cute, very happy.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney (the newly built North Wing) is divided into four floors, containing numerous works by artists from around the world and Australia, ranging from painting to installation art to video displays. My favorite exhibition in the new wing is the hands-on clay sculpture, where a huge tabletop is filled with clay balls shaped by other visitors. The entire venue is very quiet, with sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing one to enjoy the moment of tranquility. The soft and moist clay slowly changing in my palm is very relaxing.
