Oxford: The City of Dreaming Spires
Oxford, The City of Dreaming Spires, is famous the world over for its University and place in history. For over 800 years, it has been a home to royalty and scholars, and since the 9th century an established town, although people are known to have lived in the area for thousands of years. Nowadays, the city is a bustling cosmopolitan town. Still with its ancient University, but home also to a growing hi-tech community. Many businesses are located in and around the town, whether on one of the Science and Business Parks or within one of a number of residential areas.
With its mix of ancient and modern, there is plenty for both the tourist and resident to do. Whether its visiting one of the many historic buildings, colleges or museums, going out for a drink or a meal, taking in a show or shopping till you drop, Oxford has it all.
Oxford has its fair share of excellent museums. The Ashmolean Museum is its most famous, with collections of historic artworks and artefacts from China, India, Rome, ancient Greece and Egypt, but other underrated highlights include the rather charming Story Museum — great for families — and the History of Science Museum. The latter has a blackboard used by Albert Einstein on display, a Roman sundial and the only surviving complete example of a spherical astrolabe.

The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford was established in the 17th century. Collection of fascinating art and archeological relics from Egyptian mummies to English and China silverware can be found here. A wide variety of ceramics, metalwork, works on paper, wood, ivory, glass and textiles dating from the AD 600s to the 1800s is displayed in thematic showcases along the walls of the gallery.

A Day Trip to Oxford City Centre@Spring Tour in the UK
Compared to the hustle and bustle of London, I prefer the leisurely pace of Oxford, where walking on the streets feels especially comfortable; 😊
Oxford hardly has any skyscrapers, and the buildings on the streets are full of British charm. Every street and alley is perfect for taking photos, so beautiful! 😍
During my day trip to the Oxford city centre, I visited many popular attractions, big and small. From the Ashmolean Museum, I wandered around Oxford University and its surrounding colleges such as St. John's College, Keble College, the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, and Hertford College (famous for the Bridge of Sighs)... and so on; 📷💯
When I got tired, I found a beautifully decorated restaurant and ordered the national delicacy Fish and Chips, which was so satisfying! After the meal, I went to the largest shopping centre in the city centre, Westgate, for some shopping to end a wonderful day trip in Oxford. 🥰
*Trip coins are the greatest benefit for Trip.com members. Earning more Trip coins by purchasing flight tickets and booking hotels is the motivation for your next trip. I have also used Trip coins to deduct some of the cost of the Japan JR pass before, which is very practical!*

The Ashmolean Museum is recognized as the first university museum in the English-speaking world and the first public museum. From the perspective of the museum as a permanent non-profit organization, the Alchemo Museum, which has a history of more than 300 years, has its own management rules for sustainable management, and discusses the relationship between collections and museums. The museum's process of collecting museums through private donations gives us an idea of the concepts formed by Western museums from the 17th to the 18th centuries.
