Baifu Village in Huize
20 kilometers away from the county town of Huize, there is a historical and cultural ancient village called Baifu Village (named after the frequent fog due to its location surrounded by mountains). Baifu Village was a military and commercial post station during the Western Han Dynasty. Since the Ming Dynasty, nearby copper mines began to be developed, and Beifu Village became a major station for transporting copper from the south to the north and the main supply area for copper materials, earning the title of 'the first station of the thousand-mile capital transport.' The ancient buildings in Beifu Village, such as the opera stage and Shoufu Temple, are well preserved in their original state and are not commercialized.

The rice fields and ancient opera stage of Baiwu Village are really underrated😜!
In Huize, Qujing, Yunnan🤩, there is a lesser-known travel destination, only 25 kilometers away from Huize Ancient Town🚗, and it takes just one hour to drive there🤗! The summer and autumn seasons in Baiwu Village are very beautiful🤩, and you don't have to go to Dali to smell the fragrance of rice🌾🌾~ This place is truly a land of outstanding people and splendid culture, where the prosperity of ancient times can still be vaguely seen👀.
The buildings in Baiwu Village are mainly arranged vertically or parallel to the streets🎪. The ancient Baiwu opera stage is located at the center of the traditional village🤴, which is the heart of the village🎭. Baiwu Village was a military and commercial post station during the Western Han Dynasty🛣, and with the development of the Tong mine in Dongchuan Prefecture during the middle and late Ming Dynasty, the village's economy flourished and its culture thrived🎉, making it a major commercial town in the western part of Huize🎯, and a major station for the transportation of copper from the south to the north and the main supply site for copper materials for coinage during the Ming and Qing dynasties🧐, earning it the reputation of 'the first station of the thousand-mile capital transport'👍.
After roaming the Dali-style rice fields🏞, you can also visit the old street to see the ancient temples🛕 and opera stage🎶, and by the way, have a bowl of pea powder and Zhua Zhua powder at an old brand restaurant🥣, which in Qujing dialect is said to be 'pea powder is very hard zou'😝. Time moves slowly here🕰, and it's not very commercialized. This is the real Yunnan rhythm🎵!

A paradise not far from Kunming
Consider visiting Huize County in Yunnan during holidays when it's too crowded.
Reasons for recommendation:
🚗 It's a little over two hours' drive from Kunming, unfortunately, there is no high-speed train.
🏩 Hotel prices only rise from the original 270 to 350 during holidays.
🏯 Huize Ancient Town is much larger than expected, great for exploring, and there are many old buildings worth visiting in Huize County.
🥩 Huize is famous for its black goat meat, which is exactly why I came. In the city, someone recommended 'Yang Ba Wan'. I went to the Fatty Goat Restaurant, a down-to-earth place where I had a very satisfying meal. The local potatoes are also famous. Not far from the entrance of the Dashai Grass Mountain scenic area, there are some grilled mutton stalls with good quality meat; if you prefer a lighter taste, ask them to use less seasoning. There are also many mutton stalls inside the scenic area, but they might serve sheep instead. The black goat with skin I had outside the scenic area was pretty good.
⛰️ Nearby Dashai Grass Mountain, the ticket is 35, and the shuttle bus is 20, although there are only two stops inside, the high mountain meadows make you feel as if you've arrived at the Ili grasslands. The key is that you can see it all for only 55 yuan, which is a bargain. The altitude is 3650, so be aware of altitude sickness.
⛩️ Baiwu Village is a quiet and peaceful little village, and I was lucky enough to catch the sunset clouds. I really wanted to stay a few more days.
