Bangtuo Temple is located in Rongmuda Township, Rongtang County, Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, 32 kilometers away from the county seat. It was first built in the Yuan Dynasty and belongs to the Nyingma School (Red Sect) of Tibetan Buddhism. The existing cultural relics include two parts: Lama Pagoda and stone-carved Tibetan scriptures. The temple covers a total area of 1.023 hectares and a building area of 1,538 square meters. The temple has a total of 32 Lama Pagodas, which were built successively in the Ming and Qing dynasties. They are distributed in the middle of the temple with a length of 465 meters and a width of 25 meters. In history, it is known as the three largest pagoda groups in the Tibetan area of China together with the Jiangzha Temple in the Tibet Autonomous Region and the Ganzi Seda Temple Pagoda Group. The pagodas are all square pagoda bases in the stupa style, bottle-belly-shaped pagoda bodies, and thirteen-wheel pagoda brakes. The pagoda body is empty, and the pagoda contains statues of the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Buddha, Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitayus, Padmasambhava, Buddha Mother, Green Tara, and a large number of exquisite murals. Among them, the Demon-Subduing Pagoda was built in 1427. The side length of the pagoda base is 9.25 meters, and the tower body is 32 meters high. It contains some Ming Dynasty Buddha statues and murals. It is the oldest Lama pagoda in the pagoda group. The stone-carved Tibetan Tripitaka was carved in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is divided into two parts, "Kangyur" and "Tanyur". It is carved on both sides with more than 500,000 pieces of stone. It is stacked in the order of the scriptures, covering an area of 620 square meters and 11 meters high. It is the most complete stone-carved Tibetan Buddhist scriptures in Tibet, and also the largest number of stone-carved Buddhist scriptures in the country. It has a far-reaching influence on the religious masses in Tibet.
