"Exploring Guangzhou: A Perfect Fusion of Modern City and Ancient City"
Hello everyone! I recently went to an amazing place - Guangzhou. This city perfectly combines ancient culture and modern style, and every corner is full of stories.
I. Practical Guide:
1. Historical context: It is worth mentioning Beijing Road Pedestrian Street in Guangzhou, where you can not only feel the prosperity of the metropolis, but also see the ancient road under the transparent ground.
2. Food paradise: On Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, you can try authentic Cantonese dim sum and local snacks, such as rice noodle rolls and shrimp dumplings.
3. Symbol of modern city: The skyline of Zhujiang New Town is particularly charming at night, don't miss the night view of Guangzhou Tower (Xiaoman Waist).
II. Tips:
1. Convenient transportation: Guangzhou's subway network is very developed, which is the best way to travel through the city.
2. Shopping paradise: If you like shopping, be sure to check out Tianhe City and Zhengjia Square.
3. Climate information: Guangzhou is hot and humid in summer, mild in winter, suitable for tourism all year round.
III. Reasons for recommendation:
Guangzhou is a vibrant city, whether it is the pursuit of food or the exploration of history, it can surprise you. From the quaint architecture to the towering skyscrapers, Guangzhou shows a unique urban charm.

Night life with a dash of history!
Beijing Road Pedestrian Street is a great place to visit for a little night time fun. It is about 10-15 minutes walk from the Gongyuanqian metro station and right across the entrance is the XinDaXin (新大新) mall with the Vienna Hotel above it. The street has a lot of things to see and try, malls, souvenirs, street food, you name it, it’s there… I think 😅 It is definitely worth the visit. #guangzhou #tripblazers #tripmoments #historicallandmarks #nightlife #bucketlistreboot #freehotelstay

Well worth a visit. Every shop that you can imagine on the streets and a number of shopping malls. Some traditional buildings. Great place to eat from street food but nowadays it is not as crowded as it used to be. Half if the shop i knew before lockdown were not there anymore. My favourite restaurant also already close and has been replaced with something else.
Nevertheless if you are in Guangzhou will highly a visit to here as it still a great place to be

When the walls speak in colors! 🧱📣🎨
Although I've been to all the major cities in China, this is the first time I've ever seen such a street filled with murals. I wondered if this particular technique of street art exists here in China.
I was positively surprised when I visited one of the most famous attractions in Guangzhou called Beijing road pedestrian street. This popular tourist street is located in the Yuexiu district and it is very convenient to get there by metro.
On this street, you can find a great Buddhist temple, many restaurants with delicious cuisine, and other commercial content. But the thing that grabs most of my attention is the gorgeous artwork on the walls.
You will see how these walls communicate in creative ways and have a soul. This artist found inspiration in cats, women, kids, and flowers.
Represent this masterpiece in such a magnificent manner. These murals add amazing detail to this famous street.
Give this location a unique soul and ambiance.
It's kind of a hidden gem at the end of this street. I simply followed my wanderlust and discovered this incredible artistic gem.

Beijing Road Pedestrian Street in Guangzhou. The place looks like the center or Plaza where modern shops and boutiques are gathered in one big cloth. But this is very old place and very old street. Many many years ago merchants arrived here and start their trade. But for now this is the place for shopping and young people dating. It was pretty interesting for me to take a walk there and to enjoy my observing environment of modern Guangzhou.

Enjoy a free Citywalk check-in at Beijing Road in Guangzhou
Enjoy a free Citywalk check-in at Beijing Road in Guangzhou and experience Spirited Away! Beijing Road is a must-visit when playing in Guangzhou! Check in at the real-life Spirited Away! Beijing Road is essentially the commercial pedestrian street that every city has, where you can eat, shop, and stroll around. There are many photogenic spots, a plethora of delicious food, and you can even see ancient road ruins that date back thousands of years. You can spend a whole day or half a day leisurely exploring this area!
Take the subway to Gongyuanqian Station Exit D or Beijing Road Station Exit B to reach the Spirited Away check-in spot. From Exit D of Gongyuanqian, go straight and turn left at the crossroads to find it. It's best for photography at night when the lights are on from 19:00 to 22:00. No tickets or reservations are needed. For those who are religious, you can enter the temple to receive three free incense sticks to worship, offer a lamp for blessings, and there's also a vegetarian restaurant on the first floor~
Next to the Dafo Temple, the large Miniso store is also a popular photo spot recently, featuring the Strawberry Bear series, Barbie series, and a fragrance museum on the third floor. It's a great place to shop and take photos!
Yangcheng Memory Supply and Marketing Cooperative has a retro decoration style from the '80s and '90s, very characteristic and nostalgic, with lots of childhood snacks and toys! Nearby, the Guangming Plaza shopping mall has an entire floor dedicated to claw machines, which are easy to play, highly recommended!
Yue·Chao Building is another photo check-in spot. Just walk straight from Beijing Road Station Exit B and you'll find it next to McDonald's in the mall. The mall's design is fashionably tech-oriented, with many trendy brand select shops. There are outdoor areas on the 3rd and 6th floors, with stair-style terraces overlooking the characteristic arcade buildings of Beijing Road, perfect for taking great photos~

Beijing Road Guangfu Creative Cuisine 🏮 Phoenix Dance Flower Xi Guangzhou Flagship Store
Nestled within the bustling Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, lies a restaurant brimming with the unique charm of Cantonese culture. Spanning three floors, it boasts a terrace that offers a panoramic view of the vibrant street scene below. The first floor houses a book bar, adding a touch of literary elegance to the dining experience 📖. Surprisingly, despite its recent opening, the restaurant has already garnered a bustling crowd.
🔶Ambience
The exterior of the restaurant is adorned with colorful lanterns and lights. The three-story building, designed in the style of traditional Chinese arcade houses, is embellished with exquisite decorations of dancing phoenixes, flying flowers, tile feathers, and woven bamboo. A corner of the restaurant is dedicated to a book bar, bathed in a golden glow, creating a serene and contented atmosphere. It is indeed a perfect place to rest and dine after a day of shopping in the bustling commercial district.
🔶Dining Recommendations
⭕️ 'Crystal Pigeon'
The Cantonese-style roasted pigeon is a must-try. Its skin glistens like crystal, offering a glass-like texture. Each bite produces a crisp sound, revealing the subtly sweet and tender meat within, which is delicious without being overly rich [mischievous].
⭕️ 'Steamed Scallops with Garlic'
Apart from blanching, steaming with garlic is a common Cantonese cooking method for seafood‼️ The scallops are crisp and sweet, wrapped in a rich sauce and garlic-infused vermicelli. As you slurp it into your mouth, it feels as if the ocean is right beside you 🌊.
⭕️ 'Stir-fried Beef Cubes'
This dish is a perfect accompaniment to rice. The unique texture and aroma of stir-fried king oyster mushrooms, combined with the beef, make it hard to stop eating.

New Year's Trip to Guangzhou: Easy Edition for Beginners (Part 5) Citywalk Chapter
It is said that when you're in Guangzhou, it's all about strolling and eating. Beijing Road, Yongqing Fang, Shamian Island, Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, and Xihua Road are all popular check-in spots, but during the Spring Festival, there are so many people that there's hardly any sense of leisurely walking.
Beijing Road Pedestrian Street
Close to Tianzi Wharf, the shops on the pedestrian street open at ten o'clock. It gets busier at night with all kinds of snacks and souvenirs; you can't finish trying them all if you keep eating.
Shamian
A popular tourist spot, it's very congested outside, and generally, no cars are willing to drive in. Inside, there's exotic architecture, churches, and some food and drink options. The famous White Swan Hotel is located here. It's not too far from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, but the Stone House Sacred Heart Cathedral has time restrictions, so check the schedule before visiting.
Yongqing Fang
Quite congested with lots of people. Coming out from Liwan Lake Park and heading towards Yongqing Fang, you might turn back before you get there, probably around the area of Xiguan Mansion. Along the way, there are already lots of snacks.

Guangzhou!! Beijing Road!! Just checked out! Worth crying over
Guangzhou!! Beijing Road!! Such a great place to stay!! Double tatami! Private cinema! Just a 200+ walk from Beijing Road, the cost performance is incredibly high! And the location is key!
It's not allowed for there to still be sisters who don't know about this treasure hotel in Guangzhou!
The hotel's location has won my heart
Right at the exit of Beijing Road Station on Line 6! You can see the hotel as soon as you leave the station and it's just a 3-minute walk away.
Walking hand in hand with my boyfriend at night, the night cruise on the Pearl River is just too romantic! And there are so many Cantonese dishes around! Claypot rice, beef hotpot
The hotel's quiet and sophisticated design is top-notch
As soon as I pushed the door open, I was struck by this hotel, it hit me right in the heart, the overall warm yellow tone is really super healing, the 180-degree panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offer a complete view of the entire city, and the facilities in the 200+ room are no less than those of a five-star hotel
√Double bar √Huge screen projection √Dressing table √Air purifier √Washer-dryer combo √Xiaodu speaker √Refrigerator √Cooking facilities
My favorite is the hotel's double tatami, lying in bed watching movies with my boyfriend at night is really super comfortable~

Visit the area around Beijing Road when you come to Guangzhou, and you won't regret it!
Many friends say that Guangzhou is a cultural desert, but I disagree with this point. It is definitely a blind judgment made by those who do not understand Guangzhou.
Two thousand years ago, Guangzhou had the Nanyue King Zhao Tuo, who was granted a seal by Emperor Gaozu of Han and established the Nanyue Kingdom. At the beginning of its establishment, the Nanyue Kingdom implemented the policy of 'harmonizing the Hundred Yue', introducing the Central Plains' agricultural technology and culture, while also bringing exotic and maritime cultures into Lingnan. Beijing Road in Guangzhou is an ancient street that has existed for a thousand years. The palace of the Nanyue King was located here more than two thousand years ago. Since then, Lingnan culture has flourished here.
Guangzhou is definitely an old city with history, culture, economy, commerce, academia, and affinity, and Beijing Road is a witness to this old city. Here, you can see the historical changes of Guangzhou, where commercial culture, American culture, trendy elements, and Xiguan culture are basically all gathered.
Must-visit attractions:
1. Dafo Temple
A thousand-year-old temple, beautiful and magnificent, with particularly eye-catching architecture
2. Xinhua Bookstore:
A bookstore with a lot of history, where literati like Lu Xun and Guo Moruo used to buy books
3. Taiping Guan
Built in the 19th century, it is one of the earliest Western restaurants in Guangzhou or even in China. Premier Zhou has been here, and there are 'Premier's Set Meal' and 'Premier's Wife's Set Meal'
4. Nanyue King's Palace and Tomb (the tomb is next to Zhongjiu)
More than 2000 years ago, Zhao Tuo, the monarch of the Nanyue Kingdom, built the royal palace on Beijing Road, which is now open as a museum
5. Wanmu Caotang:
It was the stronghold for the dissemination of reformist ideas by Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao, and also the birthplace of the Hundred Days' Reform, a national key cultural relics protection unit
6. Shuyuan Street (Lingnan Financial Museum)
A rare group of academies in the country, now turned into the Lingnan Financial Museum, where you can learn about the history of the millennium commercial capital
7. Yaozhou Site
The earliest existing ancient garden ground site in China, a thousand years ago this place was West Lake, hence the name West Lake Road. The emperor also practiced alchemy here for eternal life, so it is also called Yaozhou
9. Yonghan Cinema:
Built in 1927, Lu Xun often went here to watch plays. It is called Yonghan Cinema because Beijing Road was called Yonghan Road during the Republic of China (and Yongqing Street during the Qing Dynasty)
10. Golia 225:
Located opposite Yonghan Cinema, it is now often used as an exhibition hall
How to get there:
Take the subway line 1 or line 2 to the station 'Before Christ', walk 300 meters and you are there

Fuxuexi Road - A beautiful mural street
In the vicinity of Beijing Road Pedestrian Street in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, there is a long-standing and culturally rich old street - Fuxuexi Street, which is a street connecting Zhongshan Road and Wenming Road. The 'Fuxue' in its name refers to the Guangzhou Fuxue Palace, which was founded in the Song Dynasty during the Qingli years, and is the highest institution run by the Guangzhou government.
With the continuous advancement of the old city renovation project, many old houses' street-facing walls are decorated with unique 3D colored paintings, and Fuxuexi Street has transformed into a 'graffiti street' full of Guangfu culture and regional customs, which has set off a trend on social media and attracted many citizens and tourists to come and take photos.
The creators of these huge 3D paintings are a pair of twin brothers from Guangzhou born in the 1980s - elder brother Wan Yiju and younger brother Wan Yiheng. They are well-known 3D ground painting artists and the fifth generation of Guangzhou clay sculpture inheritors, also known as the 'Wan Brothers'. With the theme of 'those unforgettable Guangfu memories', they have created the largest Guangfu culture 3D animation block, interspersed with non-heritage cultural themes such as Guangzhou Xihu Flower Market, Guangfu Temple Fair, Lion Dance, Olive Carving, Clay Sculpture, etc.
The painted wall of Fuxuexi Street is about 400 meters long, combining 3D illusion, line painting, sculpture and painting, and has set up four themes, including animation, traditional culture, trendy design and non-heritage culture, etc. Each work is designed specifically according to the windows of the street wall and the different heights of the painting points.
