If you wan
If you want to stay in a hotel that really feels the unique temperament of Shanghai, and enjoys the river view and landmarks close, I sincerely recommend the Shanghai Seagull Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Formerly the Seagull Hotel opened in 1984, I saw it when I was watching TV. Now it has been upgraded and renovated to incorporate modern design, retaining the nostalgic flavor.
First of all, the location and transportation, Seagull Ritz Hotel (60 Huangpu Road) basically does not need to take a car, can already walk to most of the beautiful attractions of Shanghai's Outer Bund, including Suzhou Riverside and Waibaidu Bridge. To take pictures around, the Stage Theater, Peace Hotel, and ROOF 325 Terrace Restaurant are all within walking distance. Walking along the riverside at night is really chill. In terms of subway, there is Nanjing East Road Station within 1 km, which is extremely convenient.
The hotel service is genuinely courteous. On the day of check-in, there were so many foreign guests and wedding banquets on site, the staff was still meticulous and efficient, and the luggage was handled by a dedicated receptionist. 2K dollar deposit, instantly refunded when leaving the store, no burden. Butler service and front desk communication is very smooth, the staff really do at home, will take the initiative to ask you if you need any help, encountered ask for directions the hotel is also happy to take you.
In terms of rooms, I stayed in the Outer Bund view room. 3K5 to 4K a night on weekdays, I thought I could upgrade the room on weekends, but this time I couldn't do it during the peak season, but the view of the Bund has a value of that. The most eye-catching thing about the room is the night view. The basic design is modern and simple. Two mirrors, black cabinets and marble tables are very high-end, spacious and practical enough. However, if you have special requirements for the facilities remember to make this clear when booking - a small number of guests say the sound insulation is not ideal and smelly pillows, room facilities are old, concrete and hope the hotel will continue to improve later.
Breakfast is semi-buffet, the hall is very elegant, Western and Chinese options. I especially recommend the Ritz-Carlton waffles. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. You will regret not eating them. Fruit, dim sum, and hot food are kept up to standard, but sometimes the serving will be slow when there are many people. The arrangement is slightly confusing, so be mentally prepared.
If you are as active as me, a few hundred meters nearby is the Suning Polygala Hotel, the swimming pool is called the most fragrant in Shanghai, after playing in the water to take a sauna and then slowly walk back to Seagull Ritz, the two hotel experiences together will be very addictive.
The atmosphere around the hotel is particularly rich at night. Taking pictures around the Outer Baidu Bridge is perfect for taking pictures and relaxing. There are often weddings and selfies by the spiral staircase. If you like shooting, you won't be bored.
Booking tips: Booking early during peak seasons (especially Fridays, Saturdays, and national holidays) may still have up room surprises. If you want to be quieter, choosing a high-rise room with a river view will be far away from the sound of the road and have an unbeatable view.
City travel tips: Shanghai weather is suffocating in summer, outdoor trips can be carried out in the evening; The Outer Banks area is crowded on weekends, so remember to reserve time for check-in and check-in early.
