Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park
Beautiful park in the heart of Ang Mo Kio/Bishan. Wildlife surrounds the glistening lake, with birds and fish habituated in the tree-coated landscape. Paths encapsulate the park, with bridges and resting places to admire the beauty, followed by gym areas and water parks. From inside the park, the view of temples and apartments in the distance puts the cherry on top for a perfect neighborhood park.

Japanese quality cafe
Coming here on a Saturday, I thought it would be quite crowded but thankfully, there were still plenty of available seats in this cosy cafe. The menu consists mostly of western dishes but their signature dish is actually pancakes made from quality ingredients from a Japanese prefecture! We tried the chicken and waffles, as well as the eggs benedict breakfast with pancakes. The texture of the pancakes and waffles are very light and soft, quite unique and different from the western ones I’m used to!

A Hidden Gem in Bishan Park: Tori Yard Review
📍Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, 1380 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, 569930
Tori Yard is a delightful Japanese restaurant tucked away amidst the serene beauty of the park. With its indoor and outdoor seating options and convenient nearby parking, it offers a charming dining experience.
As soon as I entered Tori Yard, I was captivated by its beautiful design. The Japanese aesthetics was evident in every detail, they even have an open kitchen with a bar where the skewers were expertly grilled.
We had the pleasure of trying a variety of dishes, including their delectable skewers, katsu curry bowl, salmon sushi rolls, and yakiniku bowl. Each dish was prepared with utmost care and showcased the flavors and quality ingredients that Japanese cuisine is renowned for.
Tori Yard is a must-visit destination for Japanese cuisine lovers.

Beat the heat in Singapore
One tip for visitors coming to Singapore, especially during the summer months like this period, is to stock up on loads of sunscreen and aloe vera gels. This shop has many branches all over the country and they are known for specially selecting and importing premium products from Japan!
These skincare products are very suitable for the high humidity levels here as they are light and non-sticky, so they don’t make you feel gross while shopping or eating. It’ll be a worthy stop to drop by!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Morning walk in Bishan/Ang Mo Kio Park
Woke up early and had a walk in Bishan- Ang Mo Kio Park. The weather is super good and the air super fresh. Managed to take a couple of nice photos with the man made river in the park. You can enjoy the nice plants and flowers in the park and wild animals like chickens and squirrels roaming carefree in the park. Though it is a weekday morning, the crowd is considered quite large. Definitely a must visit if you have done spare time in the morning.

Beautiful Park in the Heartlands
This is the best urban park in the heartlands. I visit here with my family almost every week as there are large open spaces, clean and well maintained linear paths for cycling and a wonderful children’s playground. My kids love this place as much as I do as the playground is huge with a sand pit. The paths here are also good for children learning to scoot or cycle as they are relatively flat and in a straight line. There are also many food options in the park itself like Macdonald’s, a cafe and high end restaurants. I love the scenery so much as so much thought is put into designing this park from the lakes, streams, bridges, water features and flora and fauna. Do check this beautiful park out and I’m sure you’ll have a fun day out!

Beautiful Bishan Park
#singapore boasts magnificent parks and gardens in this urban jungle and Bishan-Ang Mo Kio park is one of them. Situated in the centre of Singapore, the park is highly accessible and offers a green and peaceful respite from the busy city.
Enjoy to fresh air, and listen to the birds around as one is transported to serenity when visiting the park. The restoration of the old canal into a natural river makes the area look even better. When needing a break or a drink, visit McDonalds in the park too for all your needs. #urbanexplorer #awesomepic #park #peaceful

A taste of Japan
Newly opened Japanese restaurant, Yoshinoya, can be found on level 1 of the shopping centre. Very nice and soothing ambience after the renovation from the previous shop here. You can buy beef slices bowls, donburis and even udon. Reminds me of those random delicious shops you found along most streets in the Japan cities. Makes me feel like I’m in Japan again.

Coffee house
Easily accessible coffee house with delicious pastries located right next to the train station at Bishan. Very pleasant ambience, many students like to come here and study. Classic drinks like latte and cappuccino served here, though my favourite is the java drink with chocolate. There are merchandise to shop also. Most periods the atmosphere is quiet so good for hanging out at.

When You Need Some Peace & Quiet
I grew up in Singapore and one of my favourite childhood parks has got to be the Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park, especially since it's near my childhood house that I lived in for many years. But besides that, the bishan Ang Mo kio Park is where I head to when I need some peace and quiet. The park is tranquil, it's walkable from nearby houses and a great place for a stroll with the place not being overly crowded. There is a stream by the park where there's a bridge over it and you walk on it while observing fishes and turtles swimming in the water/pond.
The park is well shaded with trees and some wooden benches under the trees to rest and relax as the cool breeze blows at you. There are eateries/cafes in the park too, such as Canopy cafe and McDonald's. An inclusive playground for kids is there at the park as well, a great place for the kids to climb, run around and explore and play with sand in the sand pit. Bishan ang mo kio Park is the place to be for some fresh air, peace and quiet.

Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park - Singapore
Nested in the suburbs of Bishan & Ang Mo Kio. This park is 62 hectares that was rebuild along the banks of a former canal.
This is also one of the largest urban park in central singapore. There are facilities for children to play with, and a dog park for dogs to run around freely.
Feeling hungry? There are a few eateries within the park, and there’s also a spa centre in it too!

Bishan-AMK park
Spend some time brisk walking in this park during Fri morning. Surprise with the crowds in the park, the air is fresh and definitely recommended for some exercise in this park. There are also plenty of wild chickens roaming within the park. Also met a group of otter playing in the open field, they attracted quite some people taking photos/video of them. There otters are huge in sizes, so if you encounter them in this park, pls be careful not to provoke them as you never know if they decide to attack anyone standing in their path.

Nice Cafe In the Neighbourhood
Covet Coffee is a minimalist cafe situated near bishan Ang Mo kio Park. It's exact address is at 284 Bishan Street 22. The cafe has a chill laid back vibes and it serves specialty coffee and pastries. You can also get non caffeinated options such as hot chocolate or teas. Their pastries include different kinds of Danish such as hazelnut Danish, scones and tarts. I ordered their hazelnut Danish and it was flaky and oozing with hazelnut chocolate. Yummy!
You can choose the cup size for your coffee, from 3 to 8oz. I had their 6oz Anna blend latte and I liked that it is not acidic but smooth and aromatic. Brunch like toasts and bagels are also sold. Come by Covet Coffee Cafe and just chill here. It is quiet and not overly crowded.

LNY festive night market
During this festive season of lunar new year, many nights markets will pop up around Singapore. Many people will visit for the food and drinks, like Thai milk tea. Other people go there to buy special seasonal plants and flowers like the tangerines and willows to celebrate the new year. Some stalls are halal certified also so there is something to buy for everybody.

Morning Stroll at Bishan Park
Decided to try out the new Thomson East Coast Line to head over to Bishan Park, and it was a short walk from Bright Hill MRT station. We were lucky to spot some otters sun bathing and enjoying their meal. The park is well maintained and signages were clear in helping us find our bearing within the park, especially meal options e.g. Burp Kitchen & Bar, and McDonalds. We chanced upon a community garden and we were informed by the members that we can organise a park cleanup for our community and loan the cleaning tools from CleanPods for free. Indeed, it's a fantastic initiative by the Singapore Public Hygiene Council to inculcate public spiritness. One can exercise at this park while keeping it clean and green.

Shopping for parties
Address - SKP Supply Store, Junction 8 Shopping Centre, 9 Bishan Place, #04-05, Singapore 579837
This shop is a great place to stock up for your year-end Christmas parties as you can buy some of them in hulk and save quite a bit of money. I use the Christmas decor mainly as table decorations since their designs are quite nice. You can also find other party items like balloons, wrapping paper and ribbons, as well as disposable cutlery and utensils for guests to use. It’s a one-stop shop for all your large gathering needs!

Hidden ice cream shop gem
Address - Denzy Gelato Ice Cream Shop, 506 Bishan Street 11, #01-404, Singapore 570506
My husband was actually the one who chanced upon this hidden gem of an ice cream shop while walking around the area. The owner and founder of this cafe is actually a gelato artist trained in Italy and hand-makes the gelato ice cream for sale.
We ordered the brownie and waffle to try on top of our ice cream flavours of cookies and cream and brown butter pistachio. I love the chocolatey brownie taste and my husband liked the waffle that was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. However, I felt the ice cream was pretty average.

Shake Shack burgers
Address - Shake Shack Restaurant, Junction 8 Shopping Centre, 9 Bishan Place, #01-51, Singapore 579837
Shake Shack burgers is an established brand in New York and made its way to our Singapore shores. Having expanded to have many outlets all over the country, this outlet at Bishan is actually their latest outlet.
This is a two-storey outlet that has a really nice spacious layout, especially upstairs with the floor-to-ceiling windows on one side. We ordered different flavours of their burgers but my favourite is always the classic Shack burger, which is basically a cheeseburger with their secret sauce. Tastes great!

Experience a taste of Japan
Address - Genki Sushi Japanese Restaurant, Junction 8 Shopping Centre, 9 Bishan Place, #01-22/30, Singapore 579837
Since many of us can’t fly to Japan currently, the next best thing would be to experience delicious Japanese food served to you on cute moving bullet trains. The menu, although not very wide, has all the iconic dishes and flavours from Japan.
Portion sizes are small so be prepared to order more if need, but I love how the food here tastes good and is generally affordable. Be sure to order the sashimi!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Go Mural Hunting near Bishan AMK Park
#mustdo #supportlocal #artsinsg #murals #paint #neighbourhoodwalks #oldsingaporetimes #localart #slowwalk
Are you one that likes art? Love artwork related to Singapore? Love to check out murals in SG?
Check out the murals located around Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, where you can find murals no matter near the hawker centre opposite the park. They are found 1 minute away from the hawker centre so head down when you have some free time where the weather is not too sunny as you can take a chill walk around this small town.
As you can tell, these are features of old times in SG, so definitely something new for you to check out if you like Singapore murals or artwork. Or, maybe you are bringing the elders in the family out, this may resonate with them.
Bring an umbrella in case it gets rainy with the weather being unpredictable these days.

Large urban park in Singapore
Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park used to be just a large canal; and after much transformation, it has become a beautiful park in the neighbourhood, with a lake running through the middle of the park.
It is divided into 2 sections, separated by a road; the part which is nearer to the bus depot, and the other part which is nearer to Upper Thomson or the Lower Pierce reservoir. The longer section near the depot is more happening, with restaurants, exercise corners, playgrounds and lawns for visitors of all ages. Pets will not be left out too, as there is a dog park for the four legged furry friends to run around.
Cross the road and you will arrive at the second section, which is more quiet, a stark contrast to the other section. While it consists mostly of tracks for walking or running, there is also a playground and exercise corner. You may drop by Lower Pierce reservoir if you are feeling adventurous too.
The best time to visit the park is typically in the mornings or evenings, when it is not too hot and still bright. At night, while there are street lamps that lit the paths, some parts are still quite dark, hence exercise extra caution if you intend to go at night.

Bishan community park
Address - 51 Bishan Street 13, Singapore 579799
Bishan-Ang Mo Kio park is a really huge park that spans many hectares of land across the two districts, and there is a park connector that leads to this smaller community area with nice greenery.
You can easily walk, cycle, roller blade or skate here at the paths area generally quite level with no major steep inclines. The flowers here are pretty colourful too. I like walking here to soak up the scenery and breathe some fresh air!

Short Afternoon Walk at Bishan Ang Mo Kio Par
📍1384 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, Singapore
One of the largest parks in central Singapore, it stretches a big area in between Ang Mo Kio and Bishan housing estate. Being a hot weekend afternoon during our visit, there were not a lot of visitors. We also left earlier due to the weather, and only visited the River Plains area (west side) of the park.
Even so, it's a relaxing nature walk, with roosters & chicks spotted during the visit. We also came by a big Lotus pond with lots of lotus leaves & some lotus buds. Unfortunately for us, most of the lotus flowers had yet to bloom. Even so, everything looks so pretty. 🥰 I would love to be back here again soon the next time in the early morning to explore more of the other nature's beauty the park had to offer.

Weekend Destinations in Singapore: Pasir Ris Park/Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park
①Take the green line to Pasir Ris station, continue walking along the train line after exiting, don't enter the bus interchange, walk outside, then cross the road and turn right to get there.
②You'll first pass through a mangrove forest with lots of crabs and such, the environment is nice, but sometimes there's a smell of rotting silt.
③The park is quite large, you can rent a bicycle to tour around, there are many bicycle rental shops, didn't ask about the price, but it's usually just a few dollars.
④There are many chickens in the park, and feeding them is not allowed (traditional Singaporean rule).
⑤There are plenty of Carpark spaces, so those with cars can drive with ease, as there are many places to park.
⑥It's very suitable for bringing children to play, with lots of children's play facilities, the beach is not crowded, the sea is calm, and the waves are small, so you can let children play by the sea without worry.
⑦The sunset is really beautiful, it's recommended to come around five o'clock, sit by the beach when tired, chat, and enjoy the scenery, it's very nice. Opposite is Pulau Ubin, and you can also see airplanes landing.
⑧You can walk or cycle to Coney Island, those who like hiking can give it a try.
⑨As for Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, it's not crowded, mostly people walking, jogging, or walking their dogs, and there are also some young people playing frisbee. The scenery is the usual tropical one, all green, and there seem to be fewer mosquitoes than in the Botanic Gardens. Of course, along the way, you'll also see various wildlife such as wild chickens, otters, squirrels, egrets, turtles, and even more amazing creatures.
Directions: Get off at Bishan MRT station and walk north for 10 minutes to get there.

Adorable AMK park
Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park is rather big and is divided into 2 distinct parts: one is the River Plains, and the other is the Ponds Garden. Both areas are divided by Marymount Road. It takes about an hour to explore each of these two areas. The last time I came here was in March last year and I only managed to cover the River Plains. This time, I decided to cover the areas at the Ponds Garden.
This time, I led a group of 24 residents to this park for a morning brisk walk. Prior to this, I registered and obtained approval from the National Parks Board before organizing the walk. In compliance with safe distancing measures, the 25 of us had to divide into 3 groups with 8 in each group, each led by a Group Leader.
I am the odd one out, and after giving instructions that the 3 groups must not intermingle and to adhere to 1 m safe distancing apart when walking, I sped my way to the Ponds Garden. It was quite different from the River Plains. River Plains bustled with many activities while it was quietness and peace at the Ponds Garden.
We saw a large group of senior residents practising Taiji, children skating, and dogs enjoying the dog run at the River Plains areas, but the Ponds Garden was rather serene, peaceful, and devoid of any sports activities.
The Therapeutic Gardens showcase many variety of plants that triggered the senses as one walked into the gardens. But it was a bit of disappointment to me as I seem not to be able to appreciate anything special about this garden.
I found the Lotus Garden and the Landscape Pond were good vantage points for photography. With bridges running across the pond, the landscape looks unique and scenic. If time allows, I would choose a spot to sit down and meditate as the atmosphere was serene and peaceful.
The Allotment Garden did not impress me as I found the allotment box rather small, and not much vegetables or plants could be grown from the small planter box. Some of the planter boxes were barren and let to waste. Residents who rent the boxes found it meaningless to reap anything positive from the small box. I would suggest doing away with the allotment garden and replacing it with a better design.
There was a children playground with a castle and some parents were teaching their children rock climbing up the castle. Quite a creative idea and do help to gather some parents over here.
This park is big and may take 2 trips to complete unless you have at least 2 hours to spend. The time spent with nature is worthwhile and relaxing.
I remember a quote: I took a walk into the woods and came out taller than the trees. In nature, nothing is perfect, and everything is perfect.
