🇸🇬 📸Capturing the Nighttime Charm of Boat Quay, Singapore
#photolocation #100waysoftravel
Boat Quay in Singapore is a photographer’s delight, especially after dark when the area comes alive with a vibrant atmosphere. Nestled along the historic Singapore River, this bustling waterfront promenade transforms into a picturesque scene at night, making it an ideal location for both photography enthusiasts and casual visitors looking to capture the essence of Singapore’s lively nightlife.
As you set up your camera along the quay, you’ll find the contrast between the traditional shop houses and modern skyscrapers of the financial district in the background a compelling subject. The reflection of twinkling lights in the river adds a magical touch to any photo, enhancing the visual appeal of your nighttime shots.
The real charm of Boat Quay at night, however, lies in its row of riverside restaurants and bars. Each dining spot offers not just delicious meals but also stunning views of the river and city lights. You can enjoy a meal or a drink while capturing long exposure shots of the water and the illuminated cityscape. The bustling activity, coupled with the scenic backdrop, provides ample opportunities for dynamic and beautiful photography.
Whether you’re an experienced photographer or simply enjoying the view, Boat Quay at night offers a unique blend of culinary delights and photogenic scenes, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to capture the vibrant spirit of Singapore after sunset.

World flavors and a lively atmosphere.
The contrast between day and night at the Boat Quay is striking, yet both are equally captivating.
During the day, there are plenty of places to explore, from the mural tunnel between Boat Quay and Clarke Quay to the luxurious Fullerton Hotel and the historic Asian Civilisations Museum.
At night, the area comes alive with lights, and the food at various restaurants, including seafood, Thai, Indian, Japanese, and even Irish pubs, is truly amazing.
Be sure to walk to the other side where the Asian Civilisations Museum is located to enjoy the stunning views of the illuminated buildings. The downtown area is within easy walking distance, filled with shops, bars, and restaurants. The statue of Sir Stamford Raffles is also located there.

Date night at a European Bar Restaurant
Address: LUMO Bar & Restaurant, 50 South Bridge Rd, #01-00, Singapore 058682
Price: $100/pp
My date took me here for my birthday. It's a speakeasy type bar restaurant serving signature cocktails, wines and modern european fare from the wood fire.
He told me that this place usually get fully booked fast. The interior and ambiance is pretty good - very dim and jazz club vibe.
We ordered:
1. Smoked cod fish liver taramasalata, avruga caviar, crumb, ciabatta and EVOO - 10/10 One of my favorite dish of the night. If my date didn't told me it was liver I wouldn't have known. I highly recommend this dish.
2. Hokkaido scallops, avruga caviar, celtuce root, carrot and truffle puree - 10/10 The scallops was cooked perfectly and the size was huge. I recommend this dish for anyone with a smaller appetite so you can enjoy a 3 course meal.
3. White fin prawn, trofie pasta, salted kelp, lobster bisque - 8/10 The portion was very generous but the flavour of the pasta was rather flat. you can't quite taste the lobster, but the pasta was cooked to perfection. Overall a rather heavy dish.
4. Aus. angus braised beef cheek, hen of the woods mushroom, celeriac puree, red wine jus - 2/10 This dish ruined the dinner. It was tasteless. Skip this dish and eat their seafood instead. The only thing great about the dish was the mushroom.
5. SUNFLOWER - 10/10 A sour pineapple cocktail for someone who sour food and drinks. The cocktails taste good but weak in terms of alcohol - which is okay to me if you're not an alcoholic.
6. COMPASSION - 6/10 Not a fan as it was on the sweeter side of things.
7. Choconuts, 64% dark chocolate cookies, peanut praline, earl grey gelato, Icelandic - 8/10 not a chocolate fan in general but they gave me this slice for free as it was my birthday. The chocolate cake was rich and not too sweet. Perfect for any chocolate lovers out there.
Overall a cute place to bring your date.

Birthday celebration by Singapore River
Address: Shrimp Prawn Seafood, 53 Boat Quay, Singapore 049842
Located along Boat Quay, this restaurant serves affordable Thai seafood by the Singpore River. It was my first time eating here and I'm very satisfied with the experience there.
We ordered:-
1. prawn ball - 8/10 crunchy crust with fresh prawn inside. It's a lovely appetiser but nothing too fancy.
2. mooping - 10/10 juicy and well balanced skewers that leaves you wanting more
3. Scallops vemicilli - 8/10 light and peppery! Scallops were huge and slightly overcooked.
4. King prawn vemicilli- 9/10 less peppery! I'm surprised both vemicilli dish had its own flavor. The prawn one was more flavourful and the prawn was crunchy and huge.
5. prawn noodle - 8/10 very unique dish but not something I would crave for regularly!
6. Red ruby - 9/10 not too sweet and very generous with the topping
7. lemon grass - 7/10 not too sweet but refreshing
8. thai milk tea - 10/10 thick and milky! tasted authentic
Overall it's a nice ambiance, we got a seat by the water and the staff was very attentive and friendly which made the whole experience enjoyable! They didn't chase us away despite eating very slowly. Do remember to book in advance (for the river seating) as it's usually full house.

Yakitori Yatagarasu izakaya
Address: 72 Circular Rd, #01-01, Singapore 049426
This is an izakaya and it means “The Japanese word izakaya (居酒屋) is made up of three kanji with the meaning, in order, “stay-drink-place.” A spot to grab a drink, settle in, and get comfortable.” Get yourself a bar counter seat and you can watch the chef cooking and even grilling yakitori right in front of you. A great place to know about Japanese drinking culture without flying away.
Once you are settled down, a big piece of frozen towel will be served. Yes, the iced towel has been freezed and laid out flat. It is interesting to see it for the first time. You can order as many yakitori as you wish, ala-cart style, or you can order their package meal.
Also, try out their rice dishes which are seasonal based on what is available. You might be shocked to know they are grilling the internal organs from chicken. But it is tasty and it looks perfectly delicious.
Please take note of their opening hours, they are open from 6pm to 11pm and close on Sunday. Please make reservations in advance or else try your luck by walking in, hoping for others to cancel their reservations.

River merchants
Address: 1 Fullerton Square, Singapore 049178
Nearest MRT: Raffles Place MRT Exit H
Take a walk along the Fullerton Hotel area and you will not miss these river merchants statues. Once you spot them, you will continue to look out for more statues because they are so comical as to tell you a story from their actions. From the website, these River Merchant statues are the work of Aw Tee Hong, a local sculptor.
In summary, his sculptures are built on the stories of the Singapore River back in her trading days. How it was like back then when Singapore River was for commercial use. It also showcases different ethinic groups from their costumes. Probably, if you bring your grandparents along, they might be able to recall some stories about the Singapore River too.
My parents told me they cannot recall much since they were still young and they did not go to Singapore River. Luckily I am able to retrieve the Singapore Stories via the National Library. If not, a local staycation at The Fullerton Hotel also can allow me to learn more about history.

dumplings darlings - recommended to try!
Address: 86 circular road, Singapore 049438
Dumplings darlings is located at circular road near boat quay. As expected dumplings are on of their signature dishes. Tried the xo prawn noodles and it was really good. Filled with a lot of shallots and tobiko which made it very very flavorful. The xo seafood sauce is rly good as well. Also tried two different types of dumplings. The original and the spicy shi Chuan. The latter is similar to hongyouchaoshou. Original is jus good. Ordered the lunch set n it came with a drink. Total price is $16/pax but becoz I ordered the xo prawn noodles, have to top up $4. So total damage done per pax is abt $20. Highly recommended! Suggest to reserve a seat before going because it can get crowded during peak hours!!

Singapore River boat quay
#myhiddengems
Was spending some time at Singapore river boat quay on a weekday evening. It was a bit crowded as many people were getting off work. But it was still nice to sit and chill here and just enjoy the views of Singapore. Really appreciate how clean and green the city is, and how beautiful it is. Suggest coming here to take some nice photographs as well. Super insta worthy. Nearest MRT is raffles place.

Seafood Pasta & Steak Pleaseee!
We stumbled upon this small restaurant at one of the back alleys im boat quay and it was the best food I had in boat quay!
We ordered the sea food pasta which was so so good, creamy, savoury and amazing flavours - really the best.
And the steak was so juicy came with a Vietnamese pho sauce, so unique and the fries were so crispy.
It was such a good discovery!
This place doesn’t have a vibrant ambience but its a must go for the food!
Im recommending this place to everyone!
Going back for these 2 dishes for sure.
Super reasonable price, our whole bill was only 59$ for an amazing steak and pasta (we didn’t have drinks) but they do have a nice cocktail menu!#Seafood #Pasta #steak
I couldn’t find the location tag here but the name of this restaurant is Naga House

Savoring Beef Noodles the Unique Co Chung Way
Walked passed this dining place at Boat Quay after my pilates class, the smell of noodles caught me by chance so I gave Co Chung Vietnamese Restaurant a try!
I got to embrace the art of enjoying beef noodles with a unique twist—pouring flavorful boiling soup into the dry ingredients bowl consist of noodles, vegetables and raw meat.
Was surprised by the eating style as it wasn’t shown in menu, nonetheless it was a great experience.

Unique Back Alley at Boat Quay SG
#2024wish
Tucked within Boat Quay, the shophouse back alleys exude a unique charm. These narrow pathways boast a captivating fusion of heritage and contemporary allure. The shophouses, adorned with vibrant facades and intricate details, create a picturesque tapestry of colors. Beyond the narrow lanes lie eclectic boutiques, quaint cafes, and hidden gems, offering a delightful blend of history and modernity. The play of sunlight highlights the architectural nuances, casting a spellbinding ambiance. Most people may overlook these back alleys, but I find them exceptionally beautiful, adorned with a mesmerizing array of patterns that add an extra layer of allure to this urban treasure trove.

Impressive Night View In Singapore
Took this pictures from a pub balcony at Boat quay. The pub is located at level 3, the name of the pub is Medousa. Is located at the other side of the boat quay that is facing the Singapore river. Below the pub is a restaurant name The Fine Line. Once you found this restaurant, the pub is just located at level 3 above this restaurant.
One tower of beer cost about $68 Singapore Dollars and one bottle of Martel cost about $188 Singapore Dollars.
The location is so prefect that it is directly opposite the great Singapore River! As you can see from the pictures, the night scenery taken was amazing. Almost everyone from the pub will come out to the balcony to snatch one to two pictures of the scenery and one to two pictures of themselves with the scenery.

This quaint eatery is located at Boat Quay and is very famous for their Goong Ob Woon Sen, which is a prawns baked with vicemicelli or glass noodles, an immensely popular and personal favourite Thai dish of mine.
The vicemicelli dish is loaded with yummy deep fried pork lard which I simply adore. Every pot comes with succulent and fresh tiger prawns which are slow-baked in the steel pot on top of a bed of savoury glass noodles.
Lastly, how can we leave without eating Moo Ping ? Moo Ping is a popular grilled marinated pork on a skewer. Super juicy, tender just like those found at the local street food stalls in Bangkok.
So fret not, if you have no time to fly over to Bangkok for authentic fare, you can pop by here for some authentic Thai fare.
Remember to make reservations first as this outlet is very popular. Otherwise expect a long queue / waiting time if you just go over without a reservation. Enjoy !

Goong On Woon Sen which means prawn baked with vermicelli. One of my highly recommended dish there. Talking about it makes me start salivating over this dish. The tiger prawn and the seasoning of the vermicelli. Oh not to mention one of the important ingredients which is the pork lard was definitely a bonus to it.
Side track : They have a few selection of add on ingredients to the dish if you intend to have more variety.

Thai food in the corner of boat quay
Address - 48 Circular Road
Ambiance/Facilities - Nice place to chill
Highlights - Authentic Thai Food
Avg. Price per Person - $18
Rating - 4/5
Food very nice, they have localised and authentic intense Thai flavours with a huge variety from seafood to meat! Outdoor dining available as well. Although just 2 tables and next to a bin but that didn't spoil the eating mood! Prices were fair at 9.20 for a main course and about 18-20 dollars per pax for sharing portions!
The chef was also very friendly coming out to interact and also taking our comments quite seriously as the fish was a little blend. They literally took it back and re-did the entire dish!
Thumbs up for service
