#Budapest Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Is Budapest Suitable for Solo Travelling?
European Journey, Day 2: Immersed in the Romance of the Danube River.
Back in my childhood, it was the song 'Blue Danube' that introduced me to the allure of the Danube River. George Ezra's 'Budapest' beckoned me to this city, and the movie 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' firmly placed it on my travel bucket list.
However, upon arrival, I discovered that the Danube isn't actually blue, George Ezra never set foot in Budapest, and the Grand Hotel scenes had no connection to the city itself.
My travel timing couldn't have been better, coinciding with Hungary's 150th anniversary of independence, making it one of the liveliest times to visit. Just as Tomorrowland had wrapped up in Belgium, Sziget Island was hosting its own carnival here, infusing this historically rich city with the vibrancy of summer.
As I boarded the 100E 🚌 bus from the airport to the city center, I could hardly believe I was fulfilling a dream I had ten years ago.
Despite the bus screen displaying the route, I managed to miss my stop due to forgetting the station names, enduring an hour-long trek under the scorching 30-degree sun, lugging my backpack and luggage. European cobblestone streets are quite challenging, and I had to navigate them in a foreign land while keeping an eye out for pickpockets. Fortunately, a kind stranger helped me with my luggage and directed me to the right location.
⚠️ I was staying in the Blaha area, known for it’s ‘safety’, all because it's close to the New York Café 😂
Here are some precautions I've been taking during my stay:
It's essential to stay vigilant because every city has its share of bad actors.
1️⃣ Self-defense: Avoid walking alone at night, stay away from desolate streets, and return to your accommodation early. There are many bars near my hotel, and occasional approaches happen, but ignoring them does the trick.
2️⃣ Homeless individuals: They're generally quite friendly
3️⃣ Dressing modestly: 💰 I wear a money belt under my clothes for added security. When going out, I carry only a canvas bag filled with tissues. This student-like appearance probably discourages potential thieves😅
4️⃣ Sightseeing: 📷 You still want those photos! Since it's a public account, I noticed many strangers viewing and tracking my activities after check-ins. So, from that day onwards, I only share with close friends or post updates with a delay, avoiding disclosing my whereabouts.
5️⃣ Selfie stick: My photographer, and a self defence tools too!
6️⃣ Ticketing at subway stations: Use BudapestGo to buy tickets and avoid fines

Trip to Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺
This is a post to share some of my favorite spot in Budapest. I travel to Budapest from Vienna as they are very close to each other. During this trip, I spent about 2days and 2 nights to explore the city.
Upon arrival, I went to explore New York Cafe. I was amazed by the interior design of cafe. It is known as one of the prettiest cafe in the world. Aside from the design, they do serve very good dessert and coffee. I had their passion fruit cheesecake and coffee latte. The cheesecake was the best passion fruit cheesecake that I’ve ever had. It was so good until I ordered one more for takeaway 🤣
New York Cafe
📍Budapest, Erzsébet krt. 9-11, 1073 Hungary
We also visited the larger building in Budapest, Hungarian Parliament Building. The building was very stunning! Do remember to buy a ticket in advance if you don’t wanna be like me, reaching there and can’t get any ticket on spot 😂 But the outside of the building was so nice and we took quite a lot a pictures around. It’s definitely worth to visit.
Hungarian Parliament Building
📍Budapest, Kossuth Lajos tér 1-3, 1055 Hungary
Aside from all other tourist spots that you can find online, I would suggest you to visit Szabadság híd, the liberty bridge. I would recommend you to visit the place during the evening before sunset. It would be great if you can get the chance to capture a tram passing by. The view is amazing 🙌🙌🙌

Do let me know what’s your favorite spot and cafe in Budapest 🙌🙌🙌 Cheers 🍻

Depending on your budget, for me Budapest can be extremely affordable and the local foods are so delicious. If you're on a budget you can visit the city with just as little as 70000 forints a day including accommodation. From this budget you will get access to public transportation and have some simple, yet delicious Hungarian meals.
When you visit Budapest, you get two cities for the price of one. Buda is the old city, with cobblestone streets and hills. Pest is the new city, a bustling commercial center with transportation infrastructure. I’d recommend staying in Pest, on the Eastern side of the Danube, because it’s easier for a short visit.
The daily costs to visit Budapest are not as high as other European capital cities. You can have a good meal for € 11 or eat during a boat ride for around € 69 ( US$ 75). Prices and costs in Budapest are relatively inexpensive, especially when compared to other European capital cities.
The best times to visit Budapest are from March to May and September through November. These shoulder seasons are when the weather is idyllic and the city isn't overcrowded with tourists.

Bronze Hero: Prince Eugene of Savoy
#freehotelstay#hungary #budapest
The Statue of Prince Eugene of Savoy in Budapest is like a magnificent time traveler from the past, bringing history to life. Picture a brave general, Prince Eugene, with a twinkle in his eye, leading his troops to victory in the 18th century. It's almost like he's a superhero in a historical movie!
This bronze masterpiece captures his essence. He's not just any old general; he's the guy who helped Hungary and Austria win epic battles. He was like Captain America of his time, but with a fancy uniform and a mustache.
Imagine him on horseback, his sword raised high, ready to charge into battle. It's a snapshot of a moment when wars were fought with valor and honor. If statues could talk, Prince Eugene's would have tales of bravery and courage to share.
So, when you visit Budapest, don't forget to swing by this historical gem. Give Prince Eugene a salute, or maybe a high-five (if you can reach that high). He's the guy who made history exciting and Budapest even more awesome, turning dusty old books into thrilling adventures! 🎩🗡️🏛️

From the East to the West, to the Charming Buda-pest
From Vienna, Budapest is around 2 hours ride by bus. There are a lot of day tours to purchase on the internet. The view on the way is also fascinating, making me not bored at all. Budapest is the capital of Hungary, and while they became part of the EU since 2004, they still use Hungarian Forint. Many establishments accept Euros, though, if that's what you have, but you can exchange money at the border, too. The Danube River runs through the city with Buda on one side and Pest on the other. I am in awe of the classical buildings which were built from long time ago. I love the food, too. What a very charming city! I wish I had more time to explore. I hope to be back again one day. 😍

Budapest is my pure enjoyment
Exploring Budapest becomes an extraordinary experience when you embrace its unconventional delights. Beyond the iconic landmarks lies a world of captivating eccentricities. Start your day with a visit to the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, immersing yourself in the thermal waters surrounded by stunning architecture. As the sun sets, head to the Ruin Bars, like Szimpla Kert, where dilapidated buildings are transformed into eclectic bars filled with art installations and live music, offering an unforgettable night out.
