What a stunningly gorgeous and immaculately managed place, where every need—and more—is thoughtfully met. I had been eagerly anticipating my stay here since booking and didn’t expect it to surpass my expectations, but somehow it did. The resort, along with its incredibly attentive, professional, friendly, and above all, humble staff (especially Haary😉), made it unforgettable. I had read some reviews beforehand and honestly can’t understand the negative remarks—our own experience made them seem impossible. The photos online don’t fully capture the beauty of this place, which is both breathtaking and impeccably maintained. It's perched at the edge of the jungle, offering plenty of wildlife encounters—large monitor lizards wandering by, hornbills both seen and heard, wild boars making nighttime appearances, mischievous long-tailed macaques, and even a snake or two (non-venomous!). Snorkeling here was incredible, with vibrant schools of fish, spotted rays, baby reef sharks, cuttlefish, and my wife even had the rare luck of swimming with a green turtle! They’re quite elusive generally, but she found Nemo😉. We enjoyed an amazing seven days at Bungaraya, and I can’t thank everyone enough, from Carl the manager to Haary at the Pantai restaurant, as well as the courteous grounds crew, housekeeping staff, and everyone else we interacted with. Truly superb.

#NovemberTravelSupport Gaya Island, about a 15-minute boat ride from Kota Kinabalu~~ The resort boat picks you up and drops you off at the dock, so it was super convenient^^ However, alcohol is expensive, so aside from buying it on the way, we also bought a case of beer and a bottle from the duty-free shop in town. You can even snorkel right in front of the resort~ Pink jellyfish!! So beautiful and amazing. Also, you can go to a connected island from a nearby resort. Just ask the resort, and they'll give you a ride and pack a lunch for you to eat there. ^^v It was all-inclusive, so we could enjoy everything the resort had to offer without any worries~~ If you have kids, it's hard to go out on a boat to snorkel, but having everything right in front of the hotel was convenient. And there were hardly any Koreans, so it was great. #KotaKinabalu

We enjoyed our time here; it was so quiet and peaceful that we were reluctant to leave. The food was excellent, and the staff were all delightful. Our bungalow was beautiful. Just be aware that many of the bungalows are situated on steep hills with stairs. We stayed in Bungalow 19, and after the steep walk to the foot of the steps leading to the bungalow, there were 74 steps from the road to the bungalow. You could take a buggy to the steps' base, but then the steps remain to be tackled.

There are three free boats departing from Jesselton Point at 12:30, 16:30, and 22:00 every day, and the boat ride takes only about 20 minutes. We took the 12:30 boat, and although we didn't check in until 3 pm, it didn't affect our excitement. For the return trip, the 11 am boat is free, while other times cost 350 MR per person.
