A Great Self-Service Lunch at Renaissance Cafe

A friend celebrated my birthday for me🎂, choosing the Wan Chai Renaissance Cafe highly praised by YouTubers. On that Saturday noon, it was fully booked, quite exaggerated, with an average cost of 511 yuan per person (service charge included), which definitely matches the price of a five-star hotel. It was time to feast and see for ourselves.
Seafood:
There were snow crab legs, shrimp, crayfish🦞, mussels, and whelks. The snow crab legs were not overly salty and had a decent thickness, making it worth the price after eating a few. The shrimp had a firm texture and were easy to peel. The whelks were large and chewy, and when dipped in cocktail sauce, their flavor was enhanced. The crayfish🦞 also had a notable freshness.
Cooked Food Section:
There was a variety of international dishes, including lobster laksa made on the spot, pork ribs, stir-fried beef with tri-color peppers🫑, braised mushrooms with beancurd sticks, fried pork neck meat, and even vermicelli. The highlight was the Indian curry with prawn crackers, which was quite tasty, and there was also long-grain rice for those who were still hungry.
The must-try highlight was the sirloin steak🥩, which was tender and free of excess blood, seasoned with a hint of rosemary. In contrast, the shoulder steak prepared on the spot was less impressive, lacking a strong beef flavor, but its side dish of mashed potatoes cooked with butter🧈 cream showed more thought. Even the asparagus was stewed with spices.
Salad Section:
There were various cold cuts, pre-seasoned salads🥗, and a selection of dressings and toppings for customizing salad flavors. With five or six types of sauces, the must-try Thai-style chicken feet, seafood salad, chicken salad, and even Wagyu beef salad were all to taste.
Desserts:
The dessert selection was rich and varied, with a strong recommendation for the angel cake🍰.
The freshly made waffles🧇 were outstanding, paired with homemade GELATO ice cream, a perfect combination of hot and cold.
There was also the nostalgic sweet soup with red beans and glutinous rice balls, and of course, the chocolate fountain⛲️ that both adults and children love.
The most commendable was the five types of fresh fruit🍊 provided, including pineapple🍍, melon🍈, honeydew, and not-too-sweet watermelon🍉👊🏼.
Beverages:
Surprisingly, coffee refills were unlimited, and there was self-service for tea bags and hot water, with a glass of orange juice/soda included for each person.
Conclusion:
The most impressive was the sirloin steak🥩.
The seating was comfortable and worth the price.
