A Day Trip to Seongsu-dong, Seoul
Seongsu-dong in Seoul is a community full of local charm. Today, I'm sharing my pocket itinerary for a one-day trip to Seongsu-dong!
1. Cafe Onion
Cafe Onion is located in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, and is a coffee shop with an industrial theme. This café was converted from an old metal factory, retaining its original red brick walls and rusty iron doors, creating a unique nostalgic atmosphere.
Cafe Onion is famous for its unique industrial design and delicious bread. The bread in the store is made by the renowned bakery Bread 05. I particularly recommend their Pandoro bread, which looks like a small mountain covered with white powdered sugar, perfect for enjoying with coffee. Additionally, the second floor and terrace area of the café provide excellent photo spots, allowing you to enjoy the food while taking in the scenery of Seongsu-dong.

2. Dior Pop Up Store
The Dior Pop Up Store is located in Seongsu-dong and was opened to celebrate the 2022 Fall Women's Fashion Show held in Seoul. The design of this store is inspired by Dior's flagship store at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, blending French romance with modernity.
The exterior of the Dior Pop Up Store features metal mesh and transparent glass, resembling a theater surrounded by a beautiful garden that combines Korean plants with French garden elements. Inside, the store showcases Dior's latest fashion collections, including the Dior Union women's wear and Book Tote Room bags. Additionally, there is a Café Dior inside, offering a romantic rose garden view, making it a perfect spot for photos.

3. Handmade Shoe Street
Seongsu-dong Handmade Shoe Street is the largest handmade shoe industry cluster in Seoul, gathering about 70% of Korea's handmade shoe enterprises, making it the heart of Korea's handmade shoe manufacturing.
Handmade Shoe Street retains the appearance of many old factories, full of vintage charm. The handmade shoe stores here offer custom services, allowing visitors to order unique leather shoes according to their needs. Additionally, there are many cafés and galleries converted from old factories nearby, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely coffee time while shopping.

This is another branch of Onion cafe and it is located in Seongsu area and the cafe is setup inside a factory building. It is totally different from the other popular branch which is located inside a traditional hanok house. The menu is similar and the ordering concept is the same. You will choose your bread and pastry and pay it together at the cashier when you place your drink order. You will also have to find your own seats and this place is so popular and seats are limited. I recommend their cafe latte and sausage buns, it taste so good together.

Cafe Onion
Cafe Onion Anguk in Seoul is a hipster paradise that exceeded all my expectations. The vibrant and quirky decor made it the perfect spot for Instagram-worthy photos. The signature Onion Croissant Sandwich was a flavor explosion, with flaky croissant, caramelized onions, and savory fillings. And the unique Onion Latte, a blend of rich coffee and a hint of caramelized onion, was a delightful surprise. I even joined a calligraphy workshop, connecting with local artists and unleashing my creativity. Cafe Onion Anguk is a must-visit for anyone seeking a fun and Instagrammable experience in Seoul!

Highlights:
As soon as we reached, we were already in awe of the beautiful Hanok style interior. Every single corner was instagrammable, and the smell of baked pastries will instantly make this your favorite cafe in Seoul.
We ordered the Fig Pastry, Iced Americano and Chai Latte. Chai wasn't the best, but the pastry and americano was top notch!

Such a pretty little place. The pastries, breads and other items were so nicely laid out. Very clean and neat. Basically there is a separate section where you purchase your items and then take your tray to a seating area, relax and enjoy. Get a tray, select your items yourself and go to the counter to order drinks if you want and pay. The pastries have been some of the most memorable. The café is themed in the traditional hanok village style, and it has indoor and outdoor seating. The seating area had minimal decor but it was like stepping back into ancient Korea with a modern vibe. Loved it. You can either sit on the floor with pillows (take your shoes off) or on the more modern tables nearby. Nice light music. Fast wifi. I sat for over an hour. Loved the vibe. Not too busy. Staff were super sweet and friendly. But, the queueing time is only good for those who dont mind waiting. Expect a minimum 45-60min wait to get a seat. Another 20-30min to get baked goods and coffee. If taking out, just join the food ordering queue. Regardless, as the cafe culture is strong in Seoul, this is one place that you can’t miss!

Café Onion (Anguk) - Seoul, South Korea
Café Onion is a Hanok-themed, cozy and chic café located in the heart of Seoul’s historic Bukchon Hanok Village, in Anguk.
The café boasts a stylish and minimalist interior design, creating a serene & relaxing atmosphere. The café features lots of different pastries, breads and drinks. I will recommend trying the well-known Pandoro, Black Soybean Scone and their Onion Latte.
The staffs are friendly and attentive, making this café a great place to unwind and enjoy a light meal after exploring the nearby attractions like Gyeongbokgung Palace.
I feel that you could pop by this café if you have the time, as you will need to queue for minimum an hour to get in.

Onion? Onion
Went to the highly raved onion cafe in seoul. It took us 15-30 mins plus to get in and the staff were really nice. Food was amazing??!! The coffee is *chef kiss*, honestly so much better than sbux. They had a really nice range of interesting and creative pastries to try. Price wise; it isnt very expensive, comparable to usual cafe prices.
To take note its really crowded as the anguk outlet is in the city and near major tourist attractions. The other is in a suburb (so its quieter).
Recommend: If you enjoy cafe vibe, a foodie or just a curious cat. Do check them out.

ONION - “A MUST “
We braved the heavy rainfall to go to Onion. The hot cup of coffee paired with delicious pastries were a welcome contrast to the cold and rain. My friends and I had the best time. Would love to be back and do this all over again.

The cafe is a renovated old factory, retaining decorations from over 40 years ago, such as brick walls and cement surfaces. The interior space is very spacious, making it a comfortable place to enjoy coffee and desserts. The Hanok Cafe with Delicious Bread 'Onion Anguk'
I think I've already visited Onion about 5-6 times! The cafe uses the Hanok space as it is, so it's great to enjoy bread in a serene Hanok setting. That's probably why there are more foreign customers at the Anguk branch. There are many types of bread, including meal bread and dessert bread, and it's fun to order various kinds and share them with coffee while chatting. The staff was kind enough to call out your name when you go to pick up the coffee after ordering 🙂

Seoul Special Forces city walk
Korea Seoul four days and three nights trip, I feel that I have basically gone to all the places that should be checked in, and the efficiency is quite good. I admire myself for being the first in WeChat sports every day. The food feels still better in China, and the clothes in the duty-free shop are not cheap.
Day1 Morning 8 o'clock flight from Shanghai to Seoul, booked 2 nights at Crown Hotel and 1 night at L'Escape. The location of Crown Hotel is really good, just a few steps away from the subway station which is very convenient. Next to it is the Lotte Building, had a casual lunch, then walked along the big square, visited Cheonggyecheon, had Korean beef for dinner, which was not cheap but tasted very good, went to Myeongdong shopping street, didn't eat snacks, went to Olive Young, the alkaline water biscuits were delicious, regretted not buying more.
Day2 Slept in, took a taxi to a coffee shop in Hanok Village, the photo spot on the 3rd floor is excellent. Walked around Hanok Village, went to Gyeongbokgung Palace, saw many people taking photos in Korean traditional clothes, watched the 12 o'clock performance, had ginseng chicken soup, I think it was just so-so, but it seems wrong not to eat it when in Korea. The street near Gyeongbokgung Palace is very artistic and you can take photos everywhere. In the evening went to Seong-su-dong Onion, the desserts were as good-looking as they were delicious. Went to Ader, went to Point of View, didn't shop enough. Had potato pork spine soup, to be honest, didn't have high expectations before going, but there was a Chinese aunt who came to take orders, recommended a set meal for two, lots of meat, very satisfying, cheap, recommended. Walked around Hongdae, lots of street performances.
Day3 Comic street, just near the hotel, lots of graffiti, took some photos and went to Lotte Duty Free, there is a Chow Tai Fook, the price is very good but the good-looking styles were all sold out. Checked out and went to L'Escape, this is a designer hotel, booked a large suite, felt quite luxurious. Went to Sinsa-dong to eat honey rice wine, quite innovative, kimchi pork pot, mediocre, seafood pancake with fresh and large shrimp, just a bit greasy after eating too much. Went to Apgujeong, every store's style is so good-looking, simply can't see enough, checked in at the London Bagel shop, it was all sold out, too popular, luckily there is also one in Shanghai. In the evening went to Myeongdong to eat purle jang crab, afraid of not getting used to it, only ordered a small jang crab set meal, the mixed rice was actually not bad.
Day4 Bought some snacks at the convenience store and went to the airport.
Seoul is not big, many shops only open at 12 o'clock, but went to all the popular places, also ate the delicious food...

Recommended Citywalk route in Seoul: Seongdong-gu
🥤This Seoul walking tour is too addictive! If I could only recommend one citywalk route, it would definitely be Seongdong-gu. Just on Yeonmujang Street alone, there are all kinds of cafes, boutiques, and home stores, and you can eat a lot of delicious food, it's simply a happy hometown.
·
🗺Take the subway line 2 to 'Ttukseom 뚝섬' station, walk to Yeonmujang Street after getting off the station, walk to the other end of Yeonmujang Street and you can take the subway line 2 back at 'Seongsu 성수' station, you can also walk in the opposite direction.

ONION
One of the most popular cafes in Seoul is Onion. It is located close to Anguk Subway Station. Unlike other cafes, onion has a hanok style structure, like the traditional Korean houses. You should go early to avoid the long queue. It gets packed in the afternoon. This is a good place to relax after going to the Hanok village nearby.
In 2024, I want to visit other cafes that are unique.

Cafe Onion Anguk 🇰🇷
Cafe Onion is one of the most well-known cafes in Korea. This is the Cafe Onion Anguk.
Cafe Onion Anguk has a traditional architecture with a mix of modern elements. Known as the mix of past and present.
We ordered their iconic signature, pandoro. I didn't find anything special in it tho lol We also had dark chocolate & maldon salt, salty caramel cake, and Olive Bacon. The pizza is good, try it. Their coffee is regular, we had cafe latte and cappucino. Overall experience, 6/10.
Getting there:
The nearest subway station is Anguk Station on Line 3. It’s a short walk from Exit 2/3.

Cafe Onion Anguk is my favourite cafe in Seoul as it is housed in a traditional Korean Hanok style building which is something to experience when in Korea!
I have been here twice and I like it’s close approximately to Bukchon Hanok Village which allows you to soak into Korea’s culture together.
Known for its constant long queue and lack of seating, be sure to be prepared to wait while trying to get a seat.
I’m glad this time I’m here with my partner and I could try more food and the different drinks. All the bread looks very tempting and once you order they will ask for you name while preparing your drinks!

Cafe Onion In Korea
Cafe onion was a cool, awesome and hip place to hang out when you’re currently visiting in Seoul. One tip is to go during the weekdays to avoid a lot of people especially tourists like you! Try a couple of their pastries!!! Everything we picked out all tasted good and even the coffee is also good. There is also a nearby garden that you can also visit and take a tour #koreatravel

Brunch at The Onion in Anguk
#foodie #seoul #southkorea
Just a 0.3 mile walk from Changdeokgung Palace we found The Onion. Situated inside a century-old Hanok, it’s a great place for photos and for taking a breather before walking to your next destination.
The pastries were so delicious ! My favourite was the mini panettone cakes. Super soft and dusted in icing sugar. An absolute pick-me-up after a long cold day of sightseeing, but make sure to take your shoes off before going inside.
