Weining Caohai, the largest natural freshwater lake in Guizhou
Weining Caohai, the largest natural freshwater lake in Guizhou, is also a nature reserve where the lake surface is not open to tourism, and there are no lake tours. The air here is fresh, and you can stay in small villages by the lake, enjoy the scenery along the lakeside road, and walk to the edge of Caohai. The terrain of Caohai is low, and you can overlook the entire lake view from the lakeshore.

Off-the-Beaten-Path in Guizhou: Weining Caohai & Baicaoping
The sky is vast, the field is boundless, the wind blows the grass low and reveals the cattle and sheep. Bijie is a wonderful place, we successfully avoided the crowds and came to Weining Caohai and Baicaoping.
Compared to the popular Wumeng and Axilixi, Baicaoping is definitely not to be overlooked~ No admission fee, really few people, cattle and sheep can be seen everywhere, just drive onto a gravel road, and suddenly, wow, it's so spectacular! When leaving, I forgot to go back the same way to the main road, later when I wanted to return the same way, unfortunately, the slope was too steep, couldn't go up and had to keep circling around the mountain. Not many people camping, so quiet~
Axilixi Grassland is known for its wavy roads, very special, with many bends, kids love it~ To each their own~

The Cao Hai Tunnel is just too beautiful!!!
For the babies in Kunming, how can you miss the lakeside ecological park for a photo shoot on the weekend?
Recently, there are blue skies, white clouds, grass, water, reeds, everything you could want. The air is particularly good, the photos come out especially well, the atmosphere is full of vibes, you really shouldn't miss it!
Finally, remember to go around four-thirty, it won't be too hot and the light is very good for taking beautiful photos, and you can also see the sunset, it's truly amazing📷

Cao Hai is an unmissable summer retreat!
Guizhou Weining Cao Hai - A pristine plateau lake summer resort
Weining Cao Hai is located in Cao Hai Town of Weining County, Guizhou. Cao Hai Town is the county seat of Weining County, and Cao Hai is right next to the county town of Weining. Cao Hai is a complete and typical plateau wetland ecosystem, known as one of China's three major plateau lakes along with Erhai and Dianchi.
🌟🌟🌟
The summer Cao Hai is most attractive for its natural greenery and the cool sanctuary of the plateau lake. Summer in Weining is a comfortable retreat from the heat, when most parts of the country are engulfed by scorching heat, the temperature in Weining county town often stays between 16-24℃. The summer Cao Hai is known for its cool and refreshing air, lush vegetation both above and below the water, and a multitude of natural creatures including flowers, birds, insects, and fish, all brimming with life.
🌟🌟🌟
The autumn and winter Cao Hai is a paradise for bird-watching tourism. The local farmers and fishermen have a tradition of protecting birds. The lake and wetlands are crowded with migratory birds that are not too afraid of humans, creating a spectacular and beautiful scene. You can always see rare birds protected at the national level, especially the black-necked crane. In 2015, the China Wildlife Conservation Association awarded Weining County the honorary title of 'Hometown of the Black-necked Crane in China'.
🌟🌟🌟
Cao Hai is now completely closed for conservation, and all production and tourism activities on the lake have been stopped. The entire lake is in a state of pristine ecology. The original Cao Hai Pier and Xi Hai Pier no longer have tourist boats, and there are no fishing boats on the lake. When we went to Cao Hai Pier, the original plank road had decayed. Now, in summer, you can only enjoy the coolness and the unique fresh air here.
🌟🌟🌟
Staying and dining in Weining during the summer is not expensive. The hotels and homestays by Cao Hai are only a couple of hundred yuan, and dining in the county town is also cheap, although there is not a wide variety of dishes, mostly hot pot.
🌟🌟🌟
Location of Cao Hai: Inside Weining County Town, adjacent to Weining County Town, it only takes about ten minutes to walk from the town center to Cao Hai.

Going to "Caohai" to find a bird, I also saw a variety of grass
Guizhou "Caohai" and Qinghai Lake, Dianchi was listed in China's three famous highland lakes. This time, I went to the "Caohai" of the world's top ten bird watching bases to watch the birds. At the Weining toll station, I saw the latest notice board of "Caohai Lake No Forbidden Fishing". I couldn't help but feel cold.
This was once voted by the National Geographic magazine as the most popular tourist destination in the world, and is known as a sapphire in the crown of Guizhou tourism; the scenic spot with the reputation of Pearl of the Plateau and Bird Kingdom is currently In the recovery period of the culture.
Although it is impossible to raft the lake now, as long as you can quietly stand on the edge of this plateau wetland with a complete ecosystem, this group of birds fly and play in the 228 kinds of important wintering grounds and migration stations on the lake. And the scene of foraging is still very fascinating.
Unfortunately, it is a bit late to enjoy the spring light to Caohai. The most important wintering bird here, the large black-necked crane, has already flew north, and has been looking for the spring that belongs to them. The remaining wild ducks and pelicans in the sea, the reflection of the hay and the gradual greening of the lake, all of which have interpreted another kind of spring.
