Sailing Through Time - Cape Bruny Lighthouse
#2024wish
Another place that I wish to revisit is Cape Bruny Lighthouse in Tasmania. This iconic beacon isn't just a tourist magnet for its breathtaking views; it's a living testament to a culturally rich history.
Commissioned in 1835 following a string of shipwrecks around Bruny Island, the Cape Bruny Lighthouse was completed and lit in 1838. Its powerful glow, visible for an impressive 26 nautical miles, became a guiding star for countless ships navigating the treacherous waters. Fun fact: among all of Australia's lighthouses, Cape Bruny holds the title of being the longest continuously manned lighthouse until its decommissioning in 1996.
Our adventure unfolded on a full-day Tasmanian tour, visiting not just the lighthouse but also the scenic Two Tree Point beach. Here, we indulged in fresh oysters and wine with the beautiful sea as a backdrop. Following after, we went for a beer tasting session where we tasted beers produced in Australia and Tasmania. The beer that we eventually bought back was the Bruny Island beer, made with locally grown fresh ingredients.
Our experience in Tasmania is amazing and I wish to go back again in 2024!
