A truly unexpected surprise! After finishing lunch, I wandered around and unexpectedly stumbled upon the House of Vincennes. I was immediately drawn to its red and green checkered style.
Compared to other Gaudi buildings, it can be said that this one has a very different style, small yet exquisite.
The entire building integrates natural elements in many ways.
Incorporate natural design into a variety of tiles to decorate rooms with gorgeous and bright symmetrical designs, pointed arches, and geometric shapes that seem to blend in like a vacation villa on the Moroccan coast.
No need to queue, with few people, you can observe and take photos at your own pace, and enjoy Gaudi's early architectural design.

Gaudí’s first house - Casa Vicens
In 1883 young architect Antoni Gaudí took on a project to design a summer garden house for a wealthy stock exchange broker, Manel Vicens.
Two years later, in 1885 Gaudí would finish the construction of Casa Vicens - even though expansion of the gardens and perimeter wall would happen years later.
This monument is considered to be of orientalist style, taking on elements Neo-Mudéjar architecture - the Arabic style in the Iberian peninsula - and evokes Gaudí’s main inspiration, nature.
Casa Vicens is located in the Gràcia neighborhood, nowadays a booming area in downtown Barcelona with plenty of cafes and designer stores, but back when it was built it was a village in its own, separate from the city, hence its conception as a summer villa, where the Vicens family would enjoy cooler summer night alway from the polluted streets of industrious Barcelona.
The detailed works on ceramics, the combination of colors, the integration of nature and the smart usage of advances architecture elements make Casa Vicens a lesser known yet mandatory visit among Gaudí’s works.

Barcelona's Casa Vicens declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005, it located in the neighbourhood of Gracis . The building is covered with spectacular green and white tiles.
It was built by a young Gaudi as a summer house. It is the first of Gaudi works in Barcelona in which he was able to display the full range of his talents. He created an innovative and original project that broke completely with the style of anything else built in Catalonia up to that point. Casa Vicens is one of the first examples of an aesthetic renewal in art and architecture that took place in Europe at the end of the 19th century. It marks the beginning of Gaudi artistic career and is considered to be one of the first masterpieces of Modernism.

Spain | Who can shoot a film in Gaudí's house?
In 1883, 31-year-old Gaudí was appointed as the architect of the Sagrada Família. In the same year, brick manufacturer Manuel Vicens i Montaner planned to build a villa in the suburbs of Barcelona, and Gaudí took on the commission.
For a young architect, it is hard to imagine a more luxurious debut. Casa Vicens stands in front of people with strong oriental colors like a fairy tale castle in One Thousand and One Nights. The highly decorative and complex facade makes the whole building look like a crystal cut into multiple facets. This Neo-Mudéjar style mansion is a representative work of Gaudí's early design.
The smoking room is the most iconic room in Casa Vicens, with an area of only 10 square meters. In this small space, Gaudí condensed the romantic longing of the West for "Oriental style" in the 19th century through Islamic-style date palm plaster pendants (Mocárabe), bright geometric glass windows, and pulp bricks, creating a fantasy, brilliant, and luxurious Moorish world.

[Recommended for repeat visitors to Barcelona] Gaudi's mansion is a World Heritage Site!
✩
📍Casa Vicens Gaudí
Among the buildings designed by Gaudi, this is a relatively new building that was opened to the public in 2017.
This villa was designed by the young 31-year-old Gaudi.
Gaudi's buildings are known for their curved buildings, but Casa Vicens is influenced by Islamic style and nature, and is characterized by its use of tiles and iron and few curves.
The exterior is also very exotic🏝️
As one of Gaudi's early works, it is also registered as a World Heritage Site🫶🏽
There are not many tourists, so you can enjoy a relatively leisurely tour and it is recommended‼ ︎🥹
The glittering room with stained glass was apparently a smoking room😳
The building can be visited from the first to third floors and the rooftop, and is well worth seeing.
There is also a gift shop in the basement, so if you have time, be sure to stop by💕

Must-see Gaudi's building in Barcelona! ✨✨✨
#traveldiaries
Antoni Gaudí, best known and most influential architect from the beginning of the century in Spain. Gaudí spent most of his life in Barcelona and the city boasts the largest concentration of his works in the world. His style is unique, often imitated but never matched.
Gaudí´s ideas shaped the way of thinking about architecture for a whole generation. His influence on Catalan modernism was immense, creating a unique style that many have tried to replicate.
My must-see Antonio Gaudí´s building in Barcelona:
1. Casa Milà
has the most iconic terraces in the city due to the sculptured chimneys and air vents that Antoni Gaudí designed for this emblematic building.
2. Casa Battlo
unique exuberant and marine-inspired façade, adding involuntary sculptures, recycled materials and decontextualised objects, converting them into art.
3. Casa Vicens
First house Gaudí designed—a Moorish fantasia of palms, pink walls, and flower-adorned tiles.
4. Park Guell
an enormous garden with stunning and distinct architectural elements.
5. Sagrada Família
Roman Catholic minor basilica, notable for its tactile organic form.

Spain - Casa Vicens, the House of Vicens
The second Gaudí building I like is Casa Vicens.
This is the first house designed by Gaudí.
It was built between 1883 and 1885.
Before 2014, it was a private residence.
After 2017, it was acquired and turned into a museum.
Only then did we have the chance to go in for photos
and listen to the guided tour.
Influenced by neo-Moorish architecture,
there is a large arrangement of geometric patterns.
Decorations with tiles, metal products, and bricks.
Notice that all the iron railings have different floral designs.
Photo 3 shows a small room with a blue to purple gradient, which is the smoking room.
Hey, even the smoking room is so stylish.
It's so beautiful that smokers might want to 'chur' a few more.
Photo 4 is the ceiling of the first room right at the entrance.
It's a place you don't want to leave,
because every corner is beautiful.
Photos 5-7
The design of the terrace and the rooftop.
There are always surprises, like a fairy tale castle🏰.
A little tip🔔 At the underground souvenir shop,
where they sell books, there's a video playing
about the restoration of the entire Casa Vicens.
After watching it and then looking at photos 8-11,
you'll understand why I love this house so much.
A good architect and designer
is responsible for construction and aesthetics,
but it takes good builders
to turn the ideas in their minds into reality.
Gaudí in his earliest days
must have really loved plants and flowers.
You can see his careful thoughts in many delicate details.
Just look at the bricks and wrought iron he used, and you'll know.
A little secret from the trip🤫
is that I foolishly didn't make a reservation
and ended up not being able to enter the Sagrada Familia.
So, I went to this Casa Vicens instead.
Is it a blessing in disguise?

#Barcelona# Casa Vicens was designed by Gaudi in 1883 for Manel Vicens, a Spanish stock and currency broker, as his villa. This was Gaudi's first complete large-scale project at the age of 31. The Vicens House took 2 years to design and build, and was completed in 1885. It was the first independent architectural work completed by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí, marking the beginning of his career and one of the first buildings of the Art Nouveau movement. Originally a private villa, the house was included in the #UNESCO World Heritage# in 2005 and officially opened to the public as a museum in November 2017.
