A beautiful historical and cultural museum by the sea in Chaoshan: a travel guide
🏮When traveling to a city, I always choose to visit the local museum. When I visited Shantou and encountered a heavy rain, I decided to visit the museum. This is a museum facing the sea. The architectural design of the museum is full of Chaoshan elements, combining gold, wood, water, fire, and earth.
🏮In the first-floor lobby, there is a 1:1 scale model of a 'Red Head Boat', promoting the spirit of the 'Red Head Boat'. The flowing corridors on both sides are perfect for taking photos.
There are five floors in total where you can fully understand the history and traditional culture of Chaoshan,
🔸Chaoshan Overseas Chinese Museum
🔸Shantou Art Museum
🔸Shantou City Planning Exhibition Hall
🔸Famous Collection Exhibition Hall
🔸Chaoshan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall
If you don't have enough time, you can go directly to the 5th floor's Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall, which is very worth visiting. There are wood carvings, inlaid porcelain, Chaoshan embroidery, opera stages, ancestral halls, traditional cultural activities, and Chaoshan cuisine, etc. The treasure of the museum is the long scroll of Chinese painting 'Chaoshan Scenic Map'. The most impressive thing is the wood carving, which is known for its full, complex, exquisite, transparent, and brilliant features, and is known as one of China's 'Four Famous Carvings'.
You can take photos of the sea view through the floor-to-ceiling windows. You can visit for half a day, and you can also collect stamps at the museum. You can buy a Chaoshan Museum passport and stamp it, a total of 8 stamps.
Opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday 9:00-17:00
Tickets: Free, no reservation required, just swipe your ID card to enter. The underground parking lot charges 8 yuan

Four days and four nights travel guide to Nanao Island, Chaoshan
On the third day of our itinerary, we were still in the Chaoshan area, starting a series of exciting explorations. At noon, we queued for a long time and finally tasted the Chaoshan specialty beef and beef brisket double rice. The meat was tender and juicy, it was incredibly delicious! In the afternoon, we went to the Panshi Scenic Area on the opposite side of the river. We chose to take the cable car up the mountain. Although the time was not long, overlooking the entire scenic area from a high altitude, the scenery was magnificent. Unfortunately, when we wanted to take the slide down the mountain, we were told that the slide tickets were sold out, which was a bit regrettable. Later, we visited the Chaoshan Museum and had a deeper understanding of the history of Chaoshan. In the evening, we took the ferry back to the opposite side of the river and tasted the famous local Xinghua Wuji, which was indeed well-deserved and delicious! 🚠🏞️🎢
On the fourth day, we went straight to Nanao Island. We rented an electric car, which was convenient for us to shuttle freely on the island. In half a day, we rode a big circle and enjoyed the beautiful coastline on the east side of Nanao Island. The sea view of Nanao Island is really too charming! Back in Shantou, we tasted the local fruit juice ice, which was both cooling and thirst-quenching! 🏖️🍹
At noon on the fifth day, we ate traditional rice noodles and then said goodbye to Chaoshan and returned to Xiamen. Overall, the trip to Chaoshan was very worthwhile! Not only were the hotel and dining prices affordable, but we were also able to experience the unique food culture of Chaoshan firsthand. The magnificent sea view of Nanao Island was a surprise for us. This trip made me fall in love with Chaoshan, and I will definitely share this wonderful experience with more people! 🌴🍜🌊

Embroidering the vast landscape of the motherland·Chao Museum is exhibiting "Silk Needle Painting"
"Towards Revival - The Patriotic Sentiment in the 'Silk Needle Painting' of Yang Yixin, a Chaozhou artist living in America" exhibition is being held at the Shantou Art Museum in the Chaozhou History Exhibition Center, displaying dozens of unique art pieces of 'Silk Needle Painting' by Yang Yixin, a Chaozhou artist living in America, which is a fusion of traditional Chinese embroidery and modern photography art. Those large-scale works are even more shocking, the author turns the fine embroidery needle into a paintbrush, through the delicate colorful threads, 'painting' the mountains and rivers in his heart with every stitch, embroidering the vast landscape, embroidering the historical process of the great revival of the Chinese nation, expressing his passionate feelings for the motherland.
