Memorial Building in Taipei
#timetotravel
Beautiful memorial building in Taipei that is free of charge.
I visited in late July and it was very hot and humid, so I did not spend that much time outdoor exploring.
As I am writing this post, I found out that every hour there would be changing of guards. It is such a shame that I had missed it…
Because of the heat, I spent more time indoor at the level one gallery since it is air conditioned. Exhibits are all related to human rights and Taiwan’s history and some contain political messages.

Iconic Place to visit!
The Place (Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall) that you shouldn’t miss in Taipei, Taiwan! I was so astonished at the intricate details of the building. The entire complex is very clean and beautiful. Come before 12 noon to witness the changing of the guards and get a close up view of the monument. There is also a wide garden beside the monument. You can enjoy taking pictures and enjoy sightseeing 🩵
It’s worth it! Highly recommended! #taipeitravel

The Memorial Hall is white with four sides. The roof is blue and octagonal, a shape that picks up the symbolism of the number eight, a number traditionally associated in China with abundance and good fortune. Two sets of white stairs, each with 89 steps to represent Chiang's age at the time of his death, lead to the main entrance. The ground level of the memorial houses a library and a museum documenting Chiang Kai-shek's life and career, with exhibits detailing Taiwan's history and development. The upper level contains the main hall, in which a large statue of Chiang Kai-shek is located, and where a guard mounting ceremony takes place at regular intervals.

Nice place to view Sakuras
Conveniently connected by MRT, this park is a great place for a morning walk in the city.
The park is quite large . There is a garden tuck at a corner of this place where there are many sakuras in full bloom when we were here. We also see many locals walking around the park taking photos of all the flowers and sakuras.
It is interesting to know that this is one of the famous sakura viewing in the city.

Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial

The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall resembles the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. The Park, however, is quite unique. It is a park in traditional Chinese style. Apart from the gardens, it has a wall with Chinese windows. You will often see elderly Chinese men with caged songbirds. It's quite common to see old men playing traditional Chinese musical insruments together. By the way, the basement area of the CKS Hall has some interesting souvenir shops and some traditional Chinese restaurants. #taiwan #traveladdict #beautifuldestinations #travelinspiration #traveler

Chiang Kai Shek
What a great memorial hall park secluded in the middle of an ever busy city. The center piece of the hall is flanked by two traditional Chinese building structures.

Night visit @ Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
If you googled "places to visit in taipei", the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall will definitely be one of the top place that is recommended.
Most of the time, people tend to visit this place in the morning as that's when you can visit inside the hall. However, I had the chance to visit it during the night and it was a total different experience as compared to when I came in the day. The area is brightly lited up and it gives off a very romantic vibe. There isn't much tourist around too.
I actually recommend you to come visit it in the night if you want to enjoy a more peaceful and romantic view of this area.

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial is an absolute must-go place in Taiwan. You just can’t miss this symbolic place. Entrance is for free.
Tip: It’s really hot to visit this place at this time. It was a mistake of mine to not consider the hotness of the weather. I suggest that you visit this place around 4pm. Perhaps visit this after the Taipei 101 below.

The second thing I love about Taipei is its rich history and the people’s love for democracy. The people are great, very respectful, nurtured by its past.

The Memorial is in a big park where the national theater and another building building for cultural performances are locates. There is a big garden in front of the Memorial. At the other end is what looks like a huge gate.
You can enjoy the place both for leisure and historical purposes.
