It was established by Zuo Zongtang, a minister of the Qing Dynasty, and the production area had 13 shipbuilding workshops, including a machine shop, iron foundry, and shipyard. China's Shipping Administration.
China's Shipping Administration is the cradle of China's modern navy and aviation industry, as well as a pioneer in the shipbuilding industry. In 1866, Zuo Zongtang, the governor of Fujian and Zhejiang, founded the Shipping Administration in Mawei, Fuzhou, with the aim of enriching the country and strengthening the military to rejuvenate China. This was the first national institution in Chinese history dedicated to the modernization of coastal defense. The Shipping Administration carried out a series of activities such as building shipyards, manufacturing warships, producing aircraft, and running schools, which promoted the birth and development of modern Chinese industries such as shipbuilding, electric lighting, and telecommunications. The Shipping Administration created several firsts in Chinese shipbuilding, such as the first 1,000-ton steam-powered warship and the first self-made steel-armored ship. The Shipping Administration School also trained a large number of outstanding talents, such as Deng Shichang, Yan Fu, and Zhan Tianyou. The culture of the Shipping Administration reflects the unique spirit of the Chinese nation, which is characterized by perseverance, humility, and innovation. It is a source of pride for the people of Fuzhou and a spiritual treasure passed down from generation to generation by the Chinese nation. The original buildings of the Fujian Shipping Administration included more than 80 buildings, such as government offices, schools, art gardens, offices and residences for foreign staff, warehouses, factories, docks, and dormitories. Today, the engine factory, art institute, dock No. 1, bell tower, and official hall pool still exist. These are well-preserved modern industrial buildings that are still in use and have high cultural relic value. On June 25, 2001, the Fujian Shipping Administration buildings were announced as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

Type A No. 1 Seaplane.
Type A No. 1 Seaplane was the first aircraft designed and manufactured by Chinese people, Ba Yuzhao, Wang Zhu, and others. In August 1919, the Chinese Navy successfully designed and manufactured the first seaplane, Type A No. 1 Primary Trainer. Ba Yuzhao and Wang Zhu, the former was called the father of Chinese aviation by Qian Xuesen, and the latter was considered the father of Boeing aircraft. In June 1916, Ba Yuzhao and Wang Zhu obtained a master's degree in aeronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with excellent results. After graduation, Ba Yuzhao was appointed as the chief engineer of the American General Aircraft Manufacturing Plant, and Wang Zhu became the first chief engineer of Boeing Aircraft Company. There is also a bronze plaque portrait of Wang Zhu in the museum of Boeing Company in Seattle, with the words "the first engineer of Boeing Company" engraved on it. Ba Yuzhao, Wang Zhu, and others used the original shipbuilding machinery and equipment of the Fuzhou Ship Administration, selected domestic materials, tested physical properties, and concentrated excellent technicians for professional training. Under simple conditions, they finally built China's first double-float biplane seaplane named "Type A No. 1" in August 1919. The Iron Factory is one of the oldest buildings in the core area of the shipyard. It was originally a wooden frame workshop built in the late 1860s and was rebuilt into a steel frame workshop in 1898. After more than a century of vicissitudes, the current Iron Factory is restored on the remaining steel frame, with aircraft parts inside the factory and aircraft models outside the factory.

Fuzhou Ship Administration Cultural Scenic Area - The 'Living Fossil' of Modern Chinese History
Fuzhou Ship Administration Cultural Scenic Area is located in Mawei District, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. It is the first theme park in China with a focus on ship administration culture tourism, and it is the largest ship administration cultural base in the country as well as a patriotism education base in Fuzhou City. Mawei is situated at the mouth of the Min River in Fujian, just across the water from Taiwan. It has been the maritime gateway for Fuzhou since ancient times and was designated as one of the five treaty ports in the modern era. As early as 1866, Zuo Zongtang and Shen Baozhen founded the Fujian Ship Administration here. This was the first professional machinery shipbuilding factory in modern China, marking the beginning of a series of vigorous 'enrich the country and strengthen the military' activities, including building shipyards, constructing warships, manufacturing airplanes, establishing schools, recruiting talent, and sending students abroad for study. These efforts cultivated and produced a group of outstanding industrial and technological talents and distinguished naval officers of modern China, represented by figures such as Yan Fu, Zhan Tianyou, Sa Zhenbing, and Deng Shichang. They pioneered the spirit of 'observing the world with a detached view' and boldly proposed to 'look at the world with a cold eye'. By introducing advanced Western science and technology, spreading Chinese and Western cultures, and promoting the modernization process of China, it is known as the 'Living Fossil' of modern Chinese history.
