Crystal Bay is a stunning beach with crystal-clear waters. It is the perfect spot for sunbathing, relaxing, swimming and snorkelling in the area. The beach’s atmosphere is absolutely peaceful, it is not a touristic destination on the island. If you love snorkelling this place is wonderful. It has great coral reefs and marine life. It is very easy to see turtles and if you are lucky enough you might see manta rays. The only drawback in Crystal Bay is that it is not well maintained, and the shore is full of garbage. It is a pity because it could be the perfect paradise. Apart from that, Crystal Bay has a few local beach bars selling snacks, drinks and Indonesian food. If you consume something from the bar you can use the chairs and tables for free which is very convenient. One of the highlights in Crystal Bay are the sunsets. I experienced stunning sunsets the evenings that I went there. There are full of colours, they are totally magical! During my trip to Nusa Pendia, I had made it a mission to see the sunset from the beach on my first day there and i wasn’t disappointed. Crystal Bay is a gorgeous beach on the west coast of Nusa Penida, an island about a 45 minute fastboat ride from Bali's main island. It features a roughly 200m long stretch of grey and white sand, with a small but prominent islet jutting out from the waters, right in the middle. Crystal Bay is quite small compared to most beaches, and is rather secluded too. Apart from suntanning and swimming, there are many things to do here. One can rent snorkelling equipment, which is highly recommended as the bay is known to be a chilling spot for manta rays! There are also opportunities to jet ski and canoe, among other water activities. There are many eateries right on the sand, so don't worry if you start feeling hungry. I suggest coming earlier in the day and spending a few hours here. The water is quite shallow for a distance, so it is great to swim there! Tips for visiting Crystal Bay: 1. Swim on the extreme left side of the beach. It is less rocky. 2. Sunbeds are IDR100.000 per pair with no time limit. 3. Use the islet as a picture background - incredibly beautiful! 4. Here's a quick guide on getting to Nusa Penida from Bali: Transport: The only way to Nusa Penida is by fastboat. The journey will take 45 minutes each way, and boats depart from Sanur Harbour. There are various companies/timings, but a majority depart at 0730/0830 and return at 1530/1630. Ticket Info & Cost: IDR150.000 per person/one way. The price will vary if you book a tour package. Most travellers either book tickets through their drivers, or show up at the harbour and buy directly at the counters. Tourist fee is IDR25.000 adults and IDR15.000 children. Experience: Sanur Harbour was opened this year, so it's comfortable. The fastboat ride was fine. However, arriving at Nusa Penida will require you to walk through sand/water up the beach. The island is rustic and underdeveloped, so the rides are bumpy, narrow and a bit dangerous. But, the sites and views were worth everything. Look at the pictures! You MUST see them in person. Water was certainly not crystal, but seemed rather muddy (possibly from all the people...) and sometimes very rocky - better to wear shoes. During our stay at Nusa Penida I enjoyed this beach the least.
