Historic buildings
The "purse" of Brussels was made by a declaration of none other than Napoleon in 1801, yet the building that as of now houses Belgium's stock trade was not intended for an additional six decades. Development started on the site of a previous butter market, which already had been a Franciscan religious community. Following five long stretches of development, the lined neo-Renaissance building was finished in 1873. It ran consistently as the Bourse for the following 127 years, yet in September of 2000, the Brussels stock trade converged with the trades in Paris and Amsterdam to shape EuroNext. Within the building, which incorporates workmanship by Auguste Rodin, Guillaume de Groot, and French artist Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse must be visited by appointment, and a guide will give a visit to a gathering of at least 20.
