Deoksugung Palace Inside and Out
Every time I visit Seoul City Hall, I make sure to stop by Deoksugung Palace. Touring the palace, including Seokjojeon Hall, is always enjoyable, but it's also a delightful experience to view Deoksugung from the Plaza Hotel right in front of it while having a meal. Whether inside or outside, the palace always offers a stunning view.

Deoksugung at Sunset
Deoksugung, where King Gojong resided during the Korean Empire period instead of Gyeongbokgung🙂. The Seokjojeon Hall, a modern architectural marvel at that time, creates a unique balance within the serene Hanok structures. Whenever I have a chance to visit near Seoul City Hall, I always include a stroll through Deoksugung in my itinerary. Enjoy a tranquil palace tour😊😊

Seoul Travel - Deoksugung Palace, Where East Meets West
After getting off at Seoul Station, I visited the nearby Deoksugung Palace. Deoksugung was a temporary palace during the Imjin War and later became an official royal palace known as Gyeongungung.
1️⃣ The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Deoksugung is Seokjojeon, built in a Western neoclassical style. It was designed by the British J.R. Harding and constructed with granite.
2️⃣ As it functioned as the main palace for the Joseon Dynasty and the Korean Empire, Deoksugung also houses the royal family's ranks and various pavilions.
3️⃣ Deoksugung consists of pavilions such as Jeukjodang and Junghwajeon, and it harmoniously blends Korean and Western architectural styles.
4️⃣ Like Gyeongbokgung, Changgyeonggung, and Changdeokgung, Deoksugung is located in downtown Seoul, so structures like the Bank of Korea, Seoul Station, and The Plaza Seoul Hotel are immediately visible nearby.
5️⃣ The Seokjojeon West Wing is currently being used as the Deoksugung Art Museum (a branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art), displaying various artworks, crafts, exhibition paintings, and relics.
6️⃣ Also, as many people know, Deoksugung is famous for its stone wall path, so be sure to visit.

At Deoksugung Palace takes place at main entrance of Daehanmun Gate, every-days except Monday, trice daily at 11:00, 14:00 and 15:00 hrs.

Grand Palace right in Seoul
#seoul
Great spot in the heart of the city right beside the City Hall Metro station . Despite its location, it seems to be one of the least busy of the palaces in Seoul. It's not as big as Changdeokgung or Gyeongbokgung, but it is very beautiful and its design is similar to the Forbidden City in Beijing. The changing of the guard that takes place at the gates of the palace is also very beautiful. it is definitely worth visiting there
I can’t remember the ticket price but I remember it free entry if you wear the traditional Korean clothing.

Deoksugung Palace
#seoul
Deoksugung palace is one of five royal palaces remained in Seoul. Deoksugung Palace means Palace of virtue and longevity. It is also the only palace that sits alongside a series of western style buildings that add to the uniqueness of the surrounding scenery. I was very surprised seeing western style buildings and korean trafitionsl style buildings inside the same palace.
Deoksugung Palace is virtually two palaces in and it includes Korea’s first Western-style garden. Palace is not that big so you can freely visit it and have a walk during your day.

Beautiful Deoksugung Palace
Deoksugung Palace is not very large, and its outer wall is the stone wall road where the drama 'Goblin' was filmed. In November, the streets are filled with ginkgo trees, which is really beautiful.
I took a selfie with the guard at the entrance, and then an uncle wearing a Deoksugung vest came to help me take a photo. After thanking him, he asked me what brand my phone was. Haha, luckily I had a Samsung 😂
This is a palace of beauty and sorrow, with history gently treading on every stone brick. In addition to traditional Korean ancient palace architecture, there are also Western-style buildings used for diplomatic purposes. The combination of Eastern and Western architecture is truly magnificent.

Deoksugung Palace and Stonewall Walkway

Deoksugung Palace, located in the heart of Seoul, is a harmonious blend of traditional Korean and Western-style architecture. The adjacent stonewall walkway is particularly romantic, especially in autumn when the leaves turn golden. Evening visits are magical with the palace illuminated under the night sky.

Corridor of Time: The Tranquil Moments of Deoksugung Palace
Stepping into Deoksugung Palace in Seoul, one is greeted by a serene and ancient world, starkly contrasting with the bustling modernity outside. The winding stone paths, flanked by towering ancient trees standing silently like guardians, allow sunlight to filter through the leaves, casting dappled shadows as if time has slowed down at this moment.
Reaching the main hall, the exquisite eaves and subdued colors vividly showcase the royal majesty of the Joseon era. Sitting under the Jeonggwanheon Pavilion, a gentle breeze rustles the leaves, and the water in the pond gently ripples, imbuing the entire space with a timeless poetic charm. Occasionally, visitors dressed in traditional Hanbok stroll by, adding a rich historical flavor.
As the sun sets, the palace walls are bathed in a warm golden hue, and the ancient buildings exude a solemn yet gentle beauty in the twilight. Deoksugung Palace is not only a reflection of history but also a spiritual haven where one can escape the hustle and bustle and quietly feel the passage of time. This brief day trip allows one to deeply appreciate the endless charm of Korea's classical beauty.

A rarity among Seoul’s palaces 🇰🇷👫😎
Visiting Deoksugung Palace in Seoul is like stepping back into a fascinating part of Korean history. The palace’s architecture is truly mesmerizing, combining traditional Korean styles with Western influences, a rarity among Seoul’s palaces. Walking through the grounds, you’ll see beautiful hanok structures next to Western-inspired buildings like Seokjojeon Hall, a stately neoclassical building. 🇰🇷 Wearing Hanbok in Korea
Hanbok is the traditional Korean clothing worn by people in Korea. It is characterized by vibrant colors and simple lines without pockets. Hanbok consists of a jeogori (jacket) and baji (pants) or chima (skirt) for women, or baji for men. The ensemble is often accompanied by a jeonbok (vest) and a hair accessory called a norigae. While it is commonly worn on special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and celebrations, you can also find people wearing hanbok at cultural events, historical sites, and during traditional holidays in South Korea.
There are many hanbok rental shops in Seoul such as Insadong, Bukchon Hanok Village and Gyeongbokgung Palace. These shops often provide a variety of styles and sizes for both men and women. Some major palaces and cultural heritage sites in Seoul, such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, and Deoksugung Palace, also offer hanbok rental services on-site. Visitors can rent hanboks and explore the grounds while dressed in traditional attire. Most of the time entry to the palaces is free for those who are dressed in hanbok. You should definitely experience wearing a hanbok when you are in South Korea!

Deoksugung Palace
#koreatrip was meant to be exploring historical place. Deoksugung is one of the palaces in Seoul with historical background and now inculde colonial building inside. Entrance fee is 1000 won, and if you are lucky, you can see when guards change shift. It's quite small and not so many things to see, but worth to pay for with so many spots to take a picture at. If you are alone, you can try selfie or ask some passerby to take picture of you as there are many instagrammable spots; but would be best if you have someone who can take a nice shot.
