The blue tears of Dujiangyan are so magical

Sichuan's Dujiangyan Sanlian Taofen Bookstore: A Comprehensive Bookstore Coffee Shop Next to the Scenic Area
The weather in Dujiangyan is a bit stuffy in spring. By chance, I walked into the tourist center next to the ancient city scenic area and found a surprisingly comprehensive bookstore. Entering the bookstore, you are immediately enveloped in a quiet and cozy atmosphere. The bookstore is located right next to the South Bridge, where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the South Bridge.
The bookstore offers a wide selection of books. Neatly arranged books and various artistic items make it a place where you can linger and forget the time. The bookstore also provides simple drinks and snacks, adding a touch of leisure and relaxation to the spring days.
We ordered the kumquat passion fruit drink and panda cheese cake recommended by the staff. The kumquat passion fruit drink is refreshing and slightly sweet and sour, perfect for the somewhat stuffy spring weather. Even more eye-catching is the cute panda cheese cake, which looks just like an adorable panda. The filling is a rich and delicate blueberry jam, making it both delicious and fun.

It's perfect for a day trip from Chengdu by high-speed train 🚄,
especially for friends who are visiting Chengdu.
I suggest you definitely set aside one day
for a pilgrimage to the water conservancy project of Dujiangyan.
🚅 Departing from Chengdu Xipu, a high-speed train to Lidui Park Station in Dujiangyan costs only 10 yuan, and it takes just over twenty minutes to get there.
(ps: Dujiangyan Station is a bit farther, so remember to buy a ticket to Lidui Park Station)
First stop: Selfie with a Panda 🐼
Right after coming out of Lidui Park is the popular selfie 🤳🏻 spot with the super cute lying-down giant pandas, where you can take a photo with them.
Second stop: Guanxian Ancient Town
Opposite the selfie spot with the giant panda is Guanxian Ancient Town, where there are many special snacks like fried potatoes, sweet wine rice balls, scallion rolls, soy milk buns... all delicious!
Third stop: Dujiangyan Scenic Area
You really must visit the Dujiangyan Scenic Area, where the scenery throughout is particularly beautiful. Recommended tour route: Qinyan Tower — Erwang Temple — Anlan Suspension Bridge — Fish Mouth — Feisha Weir — Baopingkou — Fulong Temple.
When visiting the Dujiangyan Scenic Area, besides walking and enjoying the scenery, it is also highly recommended not to miss the 'Furong Essence · Shangshan Dujiangyan' performance in the scenic area, a stunning large-scale immersive stage drama with the legend, history, culture, and folklore of the ancient Dujiangyan as the narrative background.
It is divided into 'Ancient Weir Legend', 'Water-Born Tea Fragrance', 'Marketplace Variety', 'Inquiry of Dance and Fans', 'Millennium Change', 'Water Worship and Blessing', which recreates the legendary history of Li Bing and his son leading the construction of the ancient weir 2,279 years ago, and also integrates many Sichuan characteristic performances, such as Sichuan Opera face-changing. After watching it, you really feel it's very exciting and totally worth the ticket price.
The ticket for the Dujiangyan Scenic Area and the Furong Essence · Shangshan Dujiangyan performance are separate. There are two performances each day, one at 11 am and the other at 3 pm, each lasting about fifty minutes.

Dujiangyan, known as the 'Ancestor of World Irrigation Culture'
Dujiangyan has been a life-sustaining legacy for the children of China for generations. It is the only ancient, longest-lasting, and still-in-use damless water diversion project in the world, and is hailed as the 'Ancestor of World Irrigation Culture'. In Dujiangyan, 'Du' refers to Chengdu, 'Jiang' to the Minjiang River, and 'Yan' means a weir or dam. In ancient times, Dujiangyan was called 'Du'an Yan' because it was located in Du'an County. After the Song and Yuan dynasties, it was renamed 'Dujiangyan' and is known as the unique and eternal 'Treasure of the River'.
Dujiangyan is located in the city of Dujiangyan, west of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, on the Minjiang River at the western edge of the Chengdu Plain. It consists of a vast engineering system that includes the headworks (Fish Mouth, Feisha Weir, Baopingkou), various levels of irrigation channels, various types of engineering structures, and large, medium, and small reservoirs and weirs.
For those who want to see everything: Enter from the South Bridge main gate - Fulong Temple - Baopingkou - Feisha Weir area - walk or take the sightseeing car to Fish Mouth (walking is recommended, there are small scenic spots along the way - Anlan Suspension Bridge - Erwang Temple area and Qin Yan Tower - Li Bing Memorial Hall - Yulei Pavilion
For a more relaxed visit: Enter from Qin Yan Pavilion - Erwang Temple - Anlan Suspension Bridge - Fish Mouth - Feisha Weir - Fulong Temple - South Bridge main gate.

I regretted it as soon as I came to the back mountain of Qingcheng!!!
Wuwuwu forgive me for the clickbait
I regret not coming earlier, the back mountain of Qingcheng is really too chill!!
.
Here is a detailed 2️⃣ day tour guide of the back mountain of Qingcheng📝
Day1️⃣: Xipu-Qingcheng Mountain Station-Qingcheng Back Mountain Scenic Area
Day2️⃣: Dujiangyan-Yangtianwo Panda-Guanxian Ancient City-Zhongshuge-Nanqiao Night View-Return
.
✔️In the morning 🚄 Xipu-Qingcheng Mountain Station, take the scenic area bus to the entrance of the scenic area 30r/person (round trip) on the left hand side of the station, or self-drive🚘
✔️I personally think that the most beautiful scenery route is mainly concentrated in the section from Wulonggou to Youyicun, which is to walk up the mountain and take the cable car🚠 down the mountain, which is not tiring and can take beautiful photos📷
✔️Most of the road up the mountain is stone roads and wooden plank roads, all the way up are streams and waterfalls, the air after the rain is really fresh, walk and stop to take pictures to Youyicun about 3 hours, not tired at all!
.
This time we came to the back mountain, we stayed at the Yun End Hot Spring Hotel in Qingcheng Mountain
It's in the scenic area, the main purpose is to come for the hot spring♨️, not only there are outdoor soup pools here, but also indoor ones~ It's very suitable for climbing the mountain and returning to the hotel for dinner and rest and then soaking in the hot spring♨️ with the little sisters, looking at the misty mountains, while soaking in the hot spring while enjoying nature! Soaking in the hot spring can not only relieve fatigue, promote blood circulation, but also relax after soaking, and sleep until the next day naturally wake up!
.
The next day can be self-driving or Qingcheng Mountain Station-Dujiangyan Station
Recommended route: Yangtianwo Panda-Guanxian Ancient City-Zhongshuge-Nanqiao Night View-Return
.
🔘Back mountain ticket: 20r/person, cable car 30r/person
🔘The climbing stick bought at the entrance is 3r, I personally think that climbing must be prepared, but the cable car cannot be taken away (foldable can be)
🔘The temperature difference on the mountain is large, you must wear waterproof and warm clothes and non-slip good walking shoes
🔘 It is recommended not to bring a lot of water, there are a lot of snacks and water for sale all the way, and it is not recommended to drink a lot of water, there are really very few toilets on the road (don't ask me how I know😭)
.
Worship the water Dujiangyan Ask the way Qingcheng Mountain⛰️
There is still snow in the back mountain these days, if you have one or two days on weekends or weekdays, you must come to Dujiangyan/Qingcheng Back Mountain!

Dujiangyan Irrigation System
We travelled by car from Chengdu to Dujiangyan (approximately 2 hours with traffic). It was fascinating to visit this beautiful site and learn about the famous irrigation system.
The park was clean and immaculately cared for. We took the shuttle bus out to see the further sections of the irrigation system.
We hired a private tour guide to assist us and found him to be knowledgeable and helpful in that he took care of the purchase of tickets & helping us navigate the park. However, a guide would not be necessary at this attraction.

The Dujiangyan Irrigation System is considered a UNESCO World Heritage site and with good reason. It serves a very important purpose in the region supplying water to hundreds of thousands. Such an interesting place to visit. #merrychristmas

-
🌟 Tour route:
1️⃣ Yangtianwo Square
Get off at Lidui Park Station and you will see the same giant panda as Dilraba's selfie! Start taking photos as soon as you get off the bus. You can stand on the head of the panda and take photos in the same pose as the panda, or you can take photos on the stairs of the panda's head.
2️⃣ Guanxian Ancient City Xuanhua Gate
Yangtianwo Square is diagonally across the street from the Xuanhua Gate of Guanxian Ancient City.
3️⃣ Guanxian Ancient City
Once you enter through the Xuanhua Gate, you are in Guanxian Ancient City. There are many shops and restaurants along the way. You will pass through Baifu Gate and the Water Conservancy Office Ruins.
4️⃣ Yuelu Mountain
Walk forward from the Water Conservancy Office and you will reach Yuelu Mountain (take this route to Dujiangyan Scenic Area). The City God Temple is also on the mountain. If you don't want to go, you can walk towards Wenmiao Street on the right.
5️⃣ Wenmiao Street
There are many second-hand items on display along the way, which feels like the 1980s. Walk down Wenmiao Street and pass by Wenmiao. The red wall outside is also a great place to take photos! You can also visit Wenmiao. There is no entrance fee. There are shops and noodle restaurants with Dujiangyan stickers on the opposite side.
6️⃣ Wenmiaoshan Street
Take a break and have a cup of coffee here. Li coffee, where many people take photos, is at the end of Wenmiao Street.
7️⃣ Nanjie➡️ Xijie
At the intersection of Nanxi Street, there is a 200-meter-long ancient city wall - Ming City Wall. You can also overlook the ancient city from the wall.
8️⃣ Langqiao
The lights turn on at 7:00 every day. The Langqiao at night is completely different from the Langqiao during the day. It's so beautiful! It looks green to the naked eye, but it's blue when you take photos with your phone. It's really amazing!
9️⃣ Yangheliu Snack Street (Lou Wai Lou Snack Street)
A night market street with tons of snacks! It's all in one place!
-
That's the end of the day's itinerary. If you want to return to Chengdu, take a car🚗 from Lidui Park.
If you don't want to return, you can find a hotel in Guanxian Ancient City and continue to have fun the next day!

Half day trip through Dujiangyan irrigation system
How could we miss this?
The Dujiangyan irrigation system is the oldest one without any dam. We've been told it's actually the only one in the world!
Walking in the scenic area can be a bit exhausting, but you will be rewarded with magnificent views.
The Yulei pagoda inside the scenic area (free of charge) offers a good viewpoint above the entire area, so if you feel like climbing some more, don't skip this part. It's better to enter through the west pass as the only walk up that you'll have to do is to go to the pagoda (you don't have to go there if you don't want to), otherwise, if you want to go to the irrigation system directly, then you just have to walk down. We encountered many people that went through the main entrance and then had to go up for a long time to reach the west pass.
Before crossing the bridge, you can admire and pray at the old temples along the way.
Then you can cross the bridge above the water, it's so impressive as it's flowing fast. Crossing the bridge is actually funny as it's bumpy like a trampoline!
It took us around three hours to walk all around it, so a half day is more than enough.
If you want to stay in Dujiangyan, you can exit in the old town and enjoy some delicious local food 😋
💰Average Price per Person: 80rmb/person
💞Reasons to Recommend: family friendly, historical landmark, beautiful landscapes
🗓️Itinerary Scheduling: half day (starting through the west pass for an easier walk)

Blue Tears of Dujiangyan! The best viewing spot is not Nanqiao! It's here!
Friends, listen to me! The spectacular 'Blue Tears' of Dujiangyan cannot be fully appreciated by just crowding at Nanqiao! This weekend, let's drift to Dujiangyan with the wind of longing, and embark on a spontaneous hiking adventure with Wang Niu'er, just to have a romantic encounter with the Blue Tears on a quiet night!
Summer nights always come so slowly, so let's leisurely wait until 9 PM when it gets completely dark. That's the perfect time to go, no need to rush!
Here's the key point, pay attention! The best viewing spot for the Blue Tears is not the crowded Nanqiao, but from Nanqiao, navigate to 'Tianfu Source Langqiao', walk about 800 meters, and you'll reach the incredibly beautiful and atmospheric Tianfu Source Langqiao (also known as Yingtianwo Bridge). It's much more beautiful than Nanqiao, with rapid water flow and full visual impact, definitely thrilling! Moreover, what you see with the naked eye is a lush green, but in photos, it turns into a dreamy blue. Isn't that amazing?
How to get there? The high-speed train is super fast. From Chengdu Station 2, walk to Xipu, then buy a high-speed train ticket from Xipu to Lidui Park, it only costs a few bucks, easy! For those driving, head straight to the Nanqiao parking lot, it's free!
Travel tips:
1. Secure a good spot at the riverside restaurant in advance, pay the deposit, and wait for the delicious food with peace of mind!
2. Want a selfie with a giant panda? Just stroll around Nanqiao for ten minutes, and you'll easily get one!
3. Walk north from Nanqiao, and the West Street of the ancient city of Guanxian awaits you.
4. Don't worry if you play too late, remember the last high-speed train from Lidui Park to Xipu is at 21:55, don't miss the train home!
Alright, pack your bags, see you in Dujiangyan, let's chase that unique 'Blue Tears' together!

Please, stop taking your kids to Huanglongxi for crowded activities
Go to Qingcheng Mountain to play with water.
🖐️Qingsen Wanxiang is one of the few stream-tracing forest water play camps around Chengdu. The water is shallow and cool, making it safe for children to play freely with a low risk factor!
Moreover, the experience is great, and it's not crowded at all!
The key point is that the water quality is excellent 👍👍, crystal clear, and both adults and children can safely wade in the water!
There are also tadpoles, and children can bring nets to catch them!
Inside the camp, there is a huge natural lawn where children can run around freely 🏃.
You can also pick walnuts and persimmons, allowing children to experience the joy of picking 🎊.
When you're tired, you can have tofu hotpot for lunch. It's very fresh and light, perfect for children, and the taste is great! Adults can dip it in red oil sauce, which is very delicious!
In the afternoon, you can also have a barbecue. When the kids are tired, they can eat some meat to replenish their energy and feel very comfortable!
ps: 🅿️ Parking is free.

The Shock and Charm of the Millennium Water Conservancy Project
Dujiangyan, this water conservancy project that has endured for a thousand years, is like a dazzling pearl embedded in the land of western Sichuan. When I stepped into this magical land, my heart was filled with an indescribable shock.
Entering the scenic area, the first thing that catches the eye is the rushing river water, its grandeur is breathtaking. The roar of the river echoes in the ears, as if telling the story of a thousand years.
Walking along the road paved with bluestone, the Fish Mouth Water-Dividing Dyke appears in front of you. This ingenious design cleverly divides the Min River into two, with the outer river for flood discharge and the inner river for irrigation, making one marvel at the wisdom of the ancients. Standing on the dyke, watching the river water rushing away, a boundless respect for the ancient water conservancy engineers surges in the heart.
Continuing forward, we arrive at the Feisha Weir. Here, the principle of bend circulation is cleverly utilized to achieve automatic sand discharge. Watching the river water carrying sand rushing over the weir, one can't help but admire the perfect combination of nature's power and human wisdom.
The Bottle-Neck is the throat of the entire project, controlling the intake of the inner river. Looking at the narrow and deep channel, imagining it continuously delivering irrigation water to the Chengdu Plain for thousands of years, nourishing this fertile land, one is filled with emotion.
Walking in the Dujiangyan scenic area, ancient trees tower, and pavilions and towers are scattered. Every relic carries the weight of history, and every brick and stone tells the vicissitudes of time. Here, one can feel the grandeur of the water conservancy project and appreciate the harmonious coexistence of natural and cultural landscapes.
Climbing Yulei Mountain and overlooking the entire Dujiangyan scenic area, the magnificent scenery is intoxicating. The distant green mountains undulate, the river water rushes underfoot, and the city and countryside intertwine, forming a beautiful picture. At this moment, it seems that time has frozen, only this thousand-year-old water conservancy project silently continues to play its role, benefiting the people.
Leaving the Dujiangyan scenic area, my heart is full of reluctance. This sightseeing experience is not only a visual feast but also a spiritual baptism. Dujiangyan, this great water conservancy project, will forever be engraved in my heart.
