Autumn Scenery of Mount Hua
Location: Mount Hua is located in Huayin City, Weinan, Shaanxi Province, between 34°25′—34°00′N latitude and 109°57′—110°05′E longitude. It stretches 15 kilometers from east to west and 10 kilometers from north to south, covering an area of approximately 148 square kilometers. It is 120 kilometers west of Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province.
Elevation: The elevation of Mount Hua is 2154.9 meters.
Overview: Mount Hua, historically known as Xiyue, is one of China's famous Five Great Mountains. It is renowned for its majestic and steep peaks, high cliffs, deep valleys, and unique rock formations. Mount Hua is not only an important birthplace of the Chinese nation, but the character 'Hua' in 'China' also originates from Mount Hua, earning it the nickname 'Root of China.' Mount Hua has five main peaks: East Peak (Chaoyang), West Peak (Lotus), Middle Peak (Jade Maiden), South Peak (Landing Goose), and North Peak (Cloud Terrace). Among them, South Peak (Landing Goose) is the highest, with an elevation of 2154.9 meters; West Peak is the steepest, with an elevation of 2082 meters; and North Peak is the lowest, with an elevation of 1614.7 meters. Mount Hua is famous for its treacherous paths, with the saying 'There is only one way up Mount Hua since ancient times.' There are over 210 scenic spots on Mount Hua, including Huashan Gorge, Thousand-Foot Precipice, Hundred-Foot Gorge, Laojun Plow Groove, Canglong Ridge, Sparrow Hawk Turnover, Chess Pavilion, and Changkong Plank Road. The Huayue Immortal Palm is listed as the top of the Eight Scenic Spots of Guanzhong. Mount Hua is not only beautiful but also has a long history, being a site where many emperors in Chinese history toured or held sacrificial ceremonies. A total of 56 emperors have visited or held sacrificial ceremonies at Mount Hua.
Opening Hours: Mount Hua is open daily from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Visitors must book tickets online at least one day in advance. Only after successfully booking can they enter the Mount Hua scenic area at the reserved time. The maximum daily visitor capacity of Mount Hua scenic area is 6000 people.
Precautions:
1. Be sure to check the local weather in advance and bring a raincoat or umbrella. The author climbed on a rainy day, which is not bad, just a different scenery. Pictures will be uploaded later.
2. If climbing at night, still check the weather. Because your purpose might be to see the morning sun.
3. Bring enough water and food, as climbing consumes a lot of energy and prevents heatstroke.
