More than just a residence, it is like a "hometown" for the soul.
Shanyu B&B, a simple building located in Shiwangping Town, Nanchuan, Chongqing, seems to be a "secret base" in the hustle and bustle of life. It is built on a mountain, surrounded by a large cedar forest, and close to the first karst ecological park in China. The air is fresh, and the sunlight shines through the forest, making people relax. The designer of Shanyu has skillfully integrated the wabi-sabi style and modern art into this old building full of a sense of age, making it more than just a residence, but a "hometown" for the soul.
The environment here evokes people's yearning for nature, as if returning to the long-lost homeland. The tranquility of the cedar forest, the natural materials everywhere, and the carefully preserved rural elements - whether relaxing by the window or watching the clouds under the old tree in the patio, this close-to-nature atmosphere allows you to escape the tension of the city and regain the long-lost peace.
The designer did not "implant" modern elements into the old building, but respected the local style and gave it a new expression in a modern way: the stable wooden frame, the delicate texture of stone, and the simple and powerful line aesthetics make every space here have a sense of time precipitation, without losing modern comfort.
Here, there is no need for excessive decoration and deliberate design. The freshness of the cedar forest, the rough architectural lines, and the warm furniture are the "natural posture" of Shanyu. Whether by the window or in a corner of the courtyard, every corner exudes a natural "wabi-sabi" aesthetic, allowing people to escape from the complexity and return to inner peace.
