Shanghai Flavors in Full Bloom.
Visited the Peace Hotel!! Took photos at the Gucci store on Nanjing Pedestrian Street!! Captured both day and night views at Yu Garden!! Snapped day and night shots at the Bund!! Also visited the M&M's flagship store!! Went to Lujiazui too!!
From the Bund, you can walk straight to Nanjing Pedestrian Street and then bike to Yu Garden, experiencing the retro charm of Shanghai along the way 🤤. Make sure to stop by the M&M's flagship store to cool off with some air conditioning 🥵. The day and night views of Shanghai offer different vibes, so set aside a full day for it!! Walking around Lujiazui to watch the sunset is also beautiful 🌇, and you can take a boat from the pier back to the Bund!!
But remember to plan your time well because it's super crowded. I went at 7 pm just as it was getting dark and only managed to take a few photos before leaving because it got so crowded I was afraid I wouldn't be able to move. So, make sure to time your visit well!! It's so crowded that even the cars and subways are packed!!

Why is Shanghai known as the City Walk city?
When the current generation needs a slow journey to relieve mental exhaustion and rediscover the beauty 'nearby', citywalk becomes popular. Shanghai, with its large and small, uniquely characteristic streets spread out like capillaries, is the deserved City Walk city.
While people in other cities are still considering how to follow the trend, the young locals in Shanghai will pretend to casually say: citywalk is nothing more than 'strolling on the streets', which is a daily routine for us.
It's not hard to understand why people living in Shanghai love citywalk so much. Compared to other major cities in the country, Shanghai has more and denser streets, naturally making it a pedestrian-friendly city plan. To preserve the city's historical appearance, there are also 64 'never to be widened' streets that have not been swallowed by the wave of urbanization.
At the same time, the capillary-like streets also provide convenient conditions for the growth of commerce. Shanghai is the city with the most developed block economy in the country, with more than 6,000 convenience stores and over 8,000 coffee shops, ranking first in the country, truly making it the 'Capital of Convenience Stores' and 'Capital of Coffee'. When you're tired from citywalk, you can just turn your head to have a cup of coffee and rest your feet, or grab something to eat.
Shanghai, this bustling metropolis, is like a flourishing and diverse bloom. The bloom is made up of many small flowers, and Shanghai has countless streets. It can be said that the bloom of Shanghai is hidden in the repeated citywalks.

Original Art Deco details at the Fairmont
#urbanexplorer #tripblazers #shanghai
There is no way you can miss the beautiful Art Deco architecture of the Fairmont Peace hotel when you first see it. But have you ever taken a look at the details before? Sassoon, the original owner, had his pet hounds immortalised in the decoration of the building as the unofficial mascots. Look for them on the windows and in the plaster work.
If you’re lucky, you can take a peek inside what used to be the old management building and see a beautiful original stained glass window!

Art Deco Shanghai: The Peace Hotel
⛴ Getting There - take the river bus over from Pudong or head to Nanjing West station
🏨 Attractions - The hotel was the largest building in the city when build in the 1920s
🏯 Hotels - it is a hotel!
🥃 Food & Restaurants - they have some very retro old school restaurants largely unchanged since the 30s
🎁 Shopping - it’s just at the mount of Nanjing East Road, one of Shanghai’s biggest shopping streets
This is one of Shanghai’s most famous hotels and was previously called the #Cathay - it was all the stars of the 20s and 30s stayed. Head inside to check out the lobby and some for the Art Deco features, then hit the Jazz bar for the Peace Hotel’s live band (the band look as old as the hotel) for some old school tunes, unchanged since Shanghai’s golden era! 🎺 #shanghai #architecture #newyearadventure #artdeco #上海

Old Jazz Band in Shanghai
World’s famous Old Jazz Band in Shanghai. I was so lucky to visit that place and enjoy amazing jazz!
📍Bar is located in Fairmont Peace Hotel, 1st floor, right off the Bund.
✅It’s better to book the ticket and make a table reservation beforehand, especially during National holidays.
✅ They start at 6:30 pm. Don’t be late! :)
Drinks and snacks are included in the ticket.
Vintage atmosphere and a good music- everything you need to finish the day perfectly.
Audience from all over the world. It’s good to dress up in vintage style to support the mood 😉
In the hotel’s hall you will find lots of photo locations. Posters on the walls represent Shanghai of 1930s.
Highly recommend that place. Open one more page of Shanghai’s history!

Fairmont Peace Hotel
Awesome time hanging out and staying at the Fairmont Peace hotel in Shanghai for my birthday. I took the tour of the hotel which was offered in English and it was very interesting to learn about the long and storied history of the hotel and all the world leaders and celebrities who had stayed there in the past. I went to the Jazz bar in the evening and listened to some good music while sipping on cocktails. It kind of gave me that old-timey Shanghai feel. The architecture in the building is really awesome, it has that quality and attention to detail that modern buildings just don’t have anymore. It’s no wonder why so many US Presidents stay here when they visit Shanghai. The view from the rooftop cafe is quite amazing and not to mention the staff was always friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend!

Shanghai|Peace Hotel
Shanghai Peace Hotel as a landmark building, the experience of staying for one night is really great. Its really invincible to take pictures inside the hotel in the afternoon. The retro stairs are super nice, I wear it very simple. Every staircase here is an excellent choice for taking pictures. The art gallery also displays movie magazines for viewing here. The retro revolving door at the entrance is also invincible. The spiral staircase is already a must for the Peace Hotel. Its hard to find, ask the service staff to find it, and the photo art is not good. At night, the terrace of Huaying Pavilion and the night view of the Bund are also a new realm.
Miss.Pumpkin.
The afternoon tea at the Cathay Room and Jazz Bar at the Fairmont Peace Hotel is amazing.
🍵If you want to enjoy the best view of the Bund and the Huangpu River, the Cathay Room at the Fairmont Peace Hotel is the best choice. The terrace of the Cathay Room is usually not open to the public, and the view is amazing. You can enjoy the view of the Bund from above, and the view of the river, the "Lujiazui Trio" and the traffic on the Bund are perfectly integrated. The gentle or rapid wind by the river makes you feel like you are there. 💎💎💎
🍵I visited the Fairmont Peace Hotel again this time and tried the "Hong" magnificent afternoon tea at the Cathay Room and the Shanghai-style afternoon tea at the Jazz Bar. I came here to make up for the regret of missing the bar, gym, swimming pool, and other facilities last time, and to experience the extraordinary charm of this legendary hotel that you must visit in your lifetime. 💖💖💖
🍵The "Hong" magnificent afternoon tea can be enjoyed at the Cathay Room or the Jasmine Lounge on the lobby floor. The afternoon tea is basically the same, but the experience is different. At the Cathay Room, diners can enjoy delicious food and drinks in a refined and elegant Western restaurant environment with a beautiful view of the Bund. At the Jasmine Lounge, diners can enjoy delicious food and tea in a luxurious setting of old Shanghai with cultural context and sentiment. Therefore, there are more local uncles and aunts dining at the Jasmine Lounge, because the Peace Hotel was once only open to foreign guests and was unattainable, but now they can experience it at will, which is a dream come true for them. 🌞🌞🌞
🍵The food of the "Hong" magnificent afternoon tea is also worthy of the Fairmont Peace Hotel's reputation. The ingredients are exquisite and the taste is good, and the service of the waitresses is very attentive. I also tried the Shanghai-style afternoon tea at the Jazz Bar, which is free for guests in executive rooms, but the quality is also excellent. A set of afternoon tea is for two people, each with six different pastries, almost all of which are local specialties of Shanghai. The presentation and taste are very good, and you must take photos before enjoying them. 📸📸📸
🍵To be honest, you must experience a room with a bar treatment at such a classic hotel as the Fairmont Peace Hotel. The dinner currently served at the Jazz Bar is a selection of a la carte dishes, and like the afternoon tea, it is all about refinement, deliciousness, ritual, and nobility. The free supply saves guests some of the dining expenses, which is very cost-effective. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
🍵Remember to book a table in advance for the "Hong" magnificent afternoon tea, and if you want a window seat, please book a few days in advance. 📱📱📱

The Nine Nations Suites at the Fairmont Peace Hotel are the hotel of my life!
There are 9 suites overlooking the river in the Fairmont Peace Hotel, a classic landmark in Shanghai. Although the price is high, it costs nearly CNY 20,000 per night, but it is always in high demand. These 9 suites are the Nine Nations Suites that you often hear about!
The Nine Nations Suites are one of the most distinctive rooms in the Fairmont Peace Hotel, located on the 5th to 7th floors of the hotel. These nine suites represent the different styles of India, the UK, China, the US, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, and Germany. Each suite is about 178 square meters, facing the river, and has an excellent view.
The interior decoration of the suite is luxurious and full of exotic style, such as the old wooden floor in the British suite, the rose pattern on the top carving; the wide fireplace and Art Deco decoration in the American suite; the Japanese-style sliding door and tatami in the Japanese suite, etc., all make people feel as if they are in a foreign country.
I stayed in the Italian suite on the 6th floor this time. The room is a very classic traditional Italian style, with a lot of reddish-brown furniture and home furnishings, and the roof and eaves are also outlined with lines. The suite is very close to the Huangpu River in the entire building, and you can enjoy the invincible river view through the window! Their newly replaced sound system is really great!
In addition, each suite is equipped with a separate living room and dining room, which can accommodate 8 people to enjoy a private dinner, and also provides facilities such as a mini bar and coffee machine, allowing guests to enjoy a comfortable stay while also enjoying a high-quality life.
The bathroom is equipped with a luxurious classic bathtub and LCD TV screen, allowing guests to relax and feel the convenience of modern technology.
The Nine Nations Suites of the Fairmont Peace Hotel have accommodated countless celebrities and left countless classic moments. There will be a record of celebrities who have stayed at the door of each room, including Charlie Chaplin, Hua Luogeng, and British Marshal Bernard Montgomery who have stayed in the British suite, and the Queen of Burundi has also stayed here. In addition, the American suite has received many international friends including Edward Snow and Du Bois. These suites have witnessed countless important moments and visits by people, and have become an important witness to the fleeting moments in Shanghai over the past century.
These suites not only attract many politicians, celebrities and stars to stay, but also become a shining business card of the Fairmont Peace Hotel. Whether from a historical and cultural perspective or from the perspective of accommodation experience, the Nine Nations Suites of the Fairmont Peace Hotel are a luxurious choice worth exploring.

Is the Bund a must-visit? The North Bund is less crowded and more photogenic.
Walking in Shanghai, an international metropolis, the Bund is undoubtedly the most shining pearl. It not only gathers many historical buildings, but also has an unparalleled urban skyline. This travel note will take you into the world of the Bund, explore its charm, and share a detailed and practical travel guide.
[Attraction Introduction]
Waibaidu Bridge: As the historical starting point of the entire Bund area, there are many old houses with a history of more than 100 years.
World Architecture Expo Group: From the Peace Hotel to the Bank of China Building, various European-style buildings stand along the river, each with its own story.
Oriental Pearl Tower and Lujiazui Financial District Night View: Standing on the Huangpu River and looking across the river, the modern high-rise buildings are brightly lit, especially at night.
Shiliupu Wharf: You can take a sightseeing ferry or speedboat to visit the Huangpu River and feel the scenery on both sides of the strait.
[Itinerary Suggestions]
1. Arrive at the Bund around 3 pm and visit the World Architecture Expo Group first;
2. Choose a riverside restaurant for dinner (see the recommendation below);
3. After dinner, walk along the riverside promenade to Shiliupu Wharf and experience a short Huangpu River night tour;
4. Finally return to the Bund to watch the night view, and end the beautiful day until the lights are on.
[Must-try Food]
Laozhengxing: A good place to taste authentic local dishes, the signature braised pork melts in your mouth.
Xinbailu Restaurant: Located on Nanjing East Road Pedestrian Street, it is famous for its exquisite creative dishes.
Tsui Garden: Provides Cantonese dim sum and seafood dishes, the environment is elegant and suitable for family gatherings.
M on the Bund: If you want to try Western flavors, this restaurant on the Bund No. 3 is definitely worth a try.
[Transportation Guide]
Subway: You can take Metro Line 2 to Nanjing East Road Station and get off. After leaving the station, you can walk to the Bund in about 10 minutes.
Bus route: Many bus routes can directly reach the Bund nearby station.
Self-driving/taxi: Although parking in the city center is relatively difficult and the cost is high, if conditions permit, driving directly is also a good choice; using Didi Chuxing and other services is also very convenient and fast.
Whether it is day or night, the Bund can always bring different surprises. At the same time, I also look forward to every traveler leaving their own beautiful memories here. Remember to bring a camera, because every frame here is worth recording!

Eternal Bund Night Scene
As night falls, I stroll along the riverside avenue of the Shanghai Bund. The lights come on, the city is brilliantly illuminated, and the entire Bund seems to be shrouded in a golden halo.
On the river, boats glide by slowly, their lights reflecting off the shore. The rippling waters of the Huangpu River mirror the lights on both sides, resembling a sparkling Milky Way. I stop by the river, feeling the cool breeze on my face, and am deeply moved by the beauty of the scene.
Turning my gaze to the opposite bank in Pudong, the skyscrapers stand tall like giants. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower shines like a brilliant pearl, sparkling in the night sky. The outlines of the Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai Tower, and other high-rise buildings are highlighted by colorful lights, forming a spectacular city skyline.
As I walk along the Bund, I occasionally stop to admire the historic buildings. The Bund's Thirteen Factories, HSBC Building, and Peace Hotel appear even more dignified and elegant under the lights. These buildings have witnessed Shanghai's century-old changes and now face the modernized Pudong across the river, creating a unique picture of old and new blending together.
Among the bustling tourists, some are taking photos, some are enjoying the view, and some couples are snuggling together. I immerse myself in this lively yet warm atmosphere, feeling the pulse of the city.
Late at night, the lights of the Bund remain brilliant. I reluctantly leave, filled with admiration and nostalgia for this city. This night at the Bund will surely become an unforgettable memory for me.

Passing through the revolving door and entering the iconic octagonal hall, what comes into view is a dazzling peace dove made of glass shards. Above the peace dove is an octagonal dome made of stained glass, and the surrounding walls are adorned with large reliefs showcasing the old Shanghai style, making one feel as if they are in the old Shanghai of the 1930s, with a strong historical and cultural atmosphere.
The Peace Hotel also houses a small museum, displaying various antiques, crystals, silverware, porcelain, as well as old photos, newspapers, and menus related to the Peace Hotel. It is worth a visit.

Enchanted by Shanghai's Day and Night
Booking a four-day, three-night Shanghai package with Trip.com went seamlessly. This city has always been on my mind, and it lived up to my expectations. Visited all the must-see places: The Bund, Nanjing Road, Lujiazui, Huanghe Road. Saw all the landmarks: The Peace Hotel, Oriental Pearl Tower, Lujiazui trio, An'kang Building, Jing'an Temple. Tasted all the must-eat foods: crab roe fried rice, pan-fried buns, soup dumplings, sesame noodles, soy milk with fried dough sticks, pork rib rice cake. Bought all the must-have souvenirs: Qingzhi hand cream, International Hotel butterfly pastries, headline rice cakes, green dumplings, White Rabbit candy. The only shortfall was time; I wish I had stayed longer to fully experience the city and its vibrant Shanghai charm. The first night's view of The Bund was breathtaking, and the excitement made it hard to sleep. Shanghai, I promise to return!

The world's first LE LABO inside a hotel
LE LABO has opened a new store, and it's the first one globally to be located inside a hotel, specifically within the Peace Hotel. The antique furniture and decor in the new store surprisingly match the historical ambiance of the Peace Hotel, and since not many people know about the store's opening yet, the shopping experience is excellent.
I didn't find No. 33 shampoo when I visited Xintiandi last time, but I discovered it's available now, which makes it much more convenient to buy when I go to the Bund for exhibitions. The staff are also very friendly, and I'll come back to purchase the No. 33 soap once it's in stock.

The Peace Hotel in Shanghai.
The hotel was built in 1929, originally named Cathay Hotel, featuring Chicago School Gothic architecture. It was constructed by the wealthy British Jewish businessman Victor Sassoon, earning the reputation as 'The Number One Building in the Far East'. Upon completion, it became famous in Shanghai for its luxury, primarily hosting the financial sector, business community, and international celebrities. It is the first modernist building in the history of Shanghai's modern architecture. The second floor houses a museum exclusive to the hotel.
The room layout is like the Bermuda Triangle; we felt like Liu Laolao wandering the streets, perpetually searching for our room. A once-in-a-lifetime experience is truly satisfying!

Hey, friend, ready to explore the heart of the Magic City? Join me on an impromptu journey to the bustling Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street! Here, you'll find not only the neon-lit prosperity but also the taste of old Shanghai. Let's weave through this vibrant street together.
Tips Before You Go
First, we need to figure out how to get there. The subway is the best option, take Line 1, Line 2, or Line 8 to People's Square Station, and you'll feel the vibe of Nanjing Road as soon as you exit the station. If you're coming from Pudong, you can take the subway Line 2 to East Nanjing Road Station, which leads right to the bustling street corner. Of course, buses are also a good choice, with routes like 20 and 37 taking you straight there, depending on where you're starting from.
Shopping Route Planning
Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street is actually quite long, about 1.5 kilometers, but don't worry, we'll take it slow. Start from Henan Middle Road and head east, you'll see century-old shops standing shoulder to shoulder with trendy malls. Don't forget to look up at those old buildings, such as the Wing On Department Store and Sincere Building, which have witnessed the changes in Shanghai. In the middle, Century Square is a great place to take a break; you can sit there, watch the hustle and bustle, and feel the pulse of the city. Moving forward, you'll reach the East Nanjing Road end, where there are more modern shopping centers and plenty of delicious food waiting for you.
A Foodie's Paradise
Speaking of food, Nanjing Road is a hidden dragon and crouching tiger. Xiao Yang's pan-fried buns and Nanxiang steamed buns are must-try Shanghai snacks. If you want something different, try the Peace Hotel, where the cuisine has both the old taste of Shanghai and innovative flavors, sure to satisfy your palate.
Shopping Strategy
Nanjing Road isn't just about food; shopping is also a great pleasure. From luxury goods to everyday items, you can find everything here. If you want to take home some Shanghai specialties, consider visiting Shao Wan Sheng or the First Food Store, where traditional pastries and candies make great souvenirs.
Precautions
While shopping, remember to keep an eye on your bags, as pickpockets are common in crowded places. When taking photos, don't block the way, and try to choose a less crowded time for better results. Before making a purchase, compare prices at different stores, and don't rush to spend money to avoid regret.
Travel Suggestions
Nanjing Road is relatively quiet on weekdays, while weekends and holidays are extremely crowded. If you don't mind the crowds, then go for it. If you want to get to know Shanghai better, you can combine Nanjing Road with other attractions, such as the Bund, City God Temple, and Yu Garden. After a day, you'll definitely have a deeper understanding of Shanghai.
Alright, Nanjing Road is right in front of us. With this guide in hand, let's immerse ourselves in this charming city! Remember, have a pleasant journey!

This old road, forgotten by time, actually hides stories of stunning times
🚃 With the popular TV series 'Blossoms' airing, this Shanghai road, once forgotten by time, has come back into people's view. There's no Boss Huang, no Miss Wang, nor Zhenzhen Garden on Huanghe Road, but this newly popular Shanghai internet-famous road is indeed Huanghe Road.
🏘️ Compared to Wukang Road, it is closer to the Bund. There are many historical buildings along this road, and the well-known International Hotel is located here. Of course, the long queues of people waiting to buy the butterfly pastries also show its unique taste, attracting many tourists to purchase eagerly.
🏞️ The Taisheng Garden on Huanghe Road is the prototype of the Zhenzhen Garden in the TV series 'Blossoms'. Although it doesn't have the thrilling business battles or the passionate Miss Wang as in the TV series, it retains the authentic flavor of the old Shanghai alleys.
🌄 The spareribs rice cake mentioned in 'Blossoms' was reportedly not sold on this road before. With the TV series' explosion in popularity, many shops along the road started selling spareribs rice cakes. Personally, I find the taste average, but some might find it delicious. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I'm not accustomed to it. Xinghua Lou, however, is an old Shanghai brand that I highly recommend for friends to try.
❤️🔥 The end of Huanghe Road is East Nanjing Road, and at the end is the Bund. The world-renowned Peace Hotel is located here, which is also the office of Boss Huang in 'Blossoms'. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the Peace Hotel to Zhenzhen Garden on Huanghe Road.
🚗 Transportation tips: Take the subway lines 2, 8, or 1 to People's Square Station, exit 8, and walk about 100 meters to reach.
🔍 Nearby famous brands: Jinmen Hotel, International Hotel, Taisheng Garden, Xinghua Lou

The Shanghai Peace Hotel, with its integrated dining, living, and entertainment facilities, offers a taste of Shanghai's charm
As I stepped into the lobby of the Shanghai Peace Hotel, it felt as if I had traveled through a time tunnel, back to the bustling yet elegant old Shanghai. The vintage chandeliers hanging in the lobby cast a soft glow, illuminating the exquisite marble floor and the bronze-colored decorative railings, with every detail exuding the luxury and taste of the last century.
I was greeted by a cheongsam-clad concierge lady, whose smile was warm and welcoming, making me feel at home instantly. Under her guidance, I walked down the long corridor, flanked by black and white photos that chronicled the hotel's and Shanghai's changing history, each step feeling like a slow progression through the river of time.
Upon entering the room, I was greeted by an atmosphere that blended classic and modern elements. The interior decor retained the artistic style of old Shanghai, with wooden floors, high ceilings, and vintage furniture, each aspect revealing the traces of time. However, modern amenities were all in place, including a spacious bathroom, comfortable bedding, and high-speed internet connection, ensuring a comfortable stay for guests.
In the afternoon, I enjoyed afternoon tea at the hotel's jazz bar. The bar played melodious jazz music, and the live band performance added a touch of dynamism and vitality. I ordered a classic Shanghai cocktail, savoring it while listening to the music, immersing myself in the unique cultural atmosphere of the city.
For dinner, I chose the hotel's Chinese restaurant, where the dishes were exquisite and authentic. I tried several signature dishes, each one delicious in flavor and appearance, especially the braised pork, which was fatty but not greasy, melting in the mouth. The waitstaff moved between tables with politeness and attentiveness, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable.
At night, I returned to my room and looked out the window towards the Bund, where the brilliant night scene caught my eye. The buildings along the Huangpu River appeared even more majestic and mysterious in the night, and the Peace Hotel's location is undoubtedly one of the best spots to enjoy this beautiful view.
The next morning, I enjoyed a rich buffet breakfast in the hotel's breakfast room, from fresh baked goods to traditional Chinese dim sum, offering a wide variety to satisfy different tastes.
When leaving, I couldn't help but look back several times at the Peace Hotel, which has witnessed Shanghai's century of vicissitudes. It is not just a hotel, but more like a living history book, telling the story of the city, making it hard to leave.
The Shanghai Peace Hotel, a place full of historical charm and modern comfort, is a wonderful chapter not to be missed by any traveler to Shanghai.
