The Ganxi Residence in Nanjing, also known as Ganxi's Former Residence or Gan Family Courtyard, was built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. It is the largest and best-preserved private residence in Nanjing, commonly referred to as 'Ninety-nine and a half rooms.' It is also the largest and most complete ancient residential building in the major cities of China. Together with the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum and the Ming City Wall, it is known as one of the three major Ming and Qing Dynasty scenic spots in Nanjing.
The architectural features of the Ganxi Residence blend northern and southern styles, combining the delicate and elegant charm of southern residences, characterized by 'blue bricks, small tiles, horse head walls, and lattice windows,' with the grandeur of the northern 'running horse buildings.' The successive courtyards are very similar yet each has its own unique characteristics.
Despite its location in a busy area, the residence usually sees few visitors, and each courtyard is very quiet.
Now is the season when loquats are ripe. The yellow loquats on the courtyard walls, the green plants, and the mottled light and shadows on the walls form a stunningly beautiful Chinese painting!
This place is also home to the Nanjing Folk Museum, where many traditional handicrafts such as Yunjin brocade, velvet flowers, paper-cutting, and gourd painting can be seen.
Address: Xinnanli Block on Zhongshan South Road, numbers 15, 17, 19 of the Southern Catchment Office and number 42 of Daban Lane.
Ticket price: 20, park annual pass is valid, closed on Mondays.
Transportation: Sanshanjie Station on Subway Line 1, with underground parking available.

Strolling around, you'll see white walls and black tiles, full of Jiangnan charm, making you feel as if you're in a tranquil ink painting 🎨. The culture of intangible heritage here has a long history, and every brick and stone carries the traces of time 📚.
🎨 Xinanli
This place is a blend of art and fashion 🥰, with the aroma of coffee, the taste of gourmet food, the sweetness of desserts, the fun of groceries... everything is so delightful 💕. There's also that special unmanned bookstore, where the cat shopkeeper lazily stretches 😽, and various art exhibitions are open to the public for free. In the springtime fragrance of flowers and the atmosphere of art, Xinanli at night is even more charming 🌃.
📚 Cang Alley

🚉Travel Guide
Transportation is very convenient, direct access to the subway Sanshan Street station. There is an underground parking lot, which is equipped with a lot of catering, eating, drinking and playing.
👎Least recommended
Actually, it's a pretty boring little attraction. It's okay to look at Nanjing's intangible cultural heritage. The garden landscape is not good at this time, only when the Muxiang flowers bloom.
