This place really comes Alive at Night
#china #yunnan #xishuangbanna
Our first visit to Gaozhuang market was during the day. We were able to see the beautiful structures and artwork dotted around without a soul around. But when you come back at night, the place comes alive with people, vendors and photographers.
You can hire traditional clothes and have professional photos taken, buy souvenirs and sample some of the best street food in China.

Am i in Thailand?
Getting There - taxi
Attractions - so many! night market, sights to see, bars ext.
Hotels - few on the outskirts
Food & Restaurants - plenty of street vendors
Shopping - street vendors
stepping into the night market, all of a sudden i felt like i had been teleported back into Thailand and that is no joke! i have seen many street food roads in my time but nothing like this, from vendors selling clothes, drawings, trinkets, incense, food and more to beautiful scenery, this night market is like no other you will fond in china and definitely worth a visit!

everyone does the whole dress up and take pictures at the night market … so you have too 🤣 it was fun and we got some nice pictures from it. Xishuangbanna Night Markets
Gaozhuang night market in downtown Jinhong, Xishuangbanna is one of the most vibrant and amazing market areas I have ever visited. It consists of several streets leading to a central market area that has areas for souvenirs, local crafts, clothes, food and more.
If you want to dress up in local clothes to take pictures there are many shops catering for you.
The food area near the river market overlooks the river and a music show area. Many stalls selling barbecue, fruit and drinks so you can buy some local food and sit to watch the shows on the river.
The prices in the market are generally very affordable and you won't get ripped off. Definitely worth a visit even if you aren't into markets.

where china meets Southeast Asia
If you want to travel Thailand and China in one go, then look no further than Xishuangbanna! Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, as it is known officially, is located in southern Yunnan Province of China, on the borders of Laos and Myanmar. Compared with the distance to Beijing, the capital of China, Xishuangbanna is about a third of closer to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. Therefore, unlike typical China you may imagine, you will get a strong taste of Thailand besides the charm of China in Xishuangbanna. Xishuangbanna is a paradise for foodies, and such a belief will be especially profound at night. Night markets with dizzying neon glow will light the night and drive the night away. Forget your bed until you full your last bit of belly space.

Burma, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand in CHINA!
Xishuanbanna, or just Banna, is getting really busy after each sunset. Architecture and local language will make you confused where you actually are. The main market is full of people looking for souvenirs or night food. It’s also a really popular area for taking awesome pics! For 100-200 kuai you can rent a beautiful Dai people costume and your private photographer will take you to the best spots. What to eat? I recommend cold or fried noodles and definitely try BeerLao - really good beer from neighbouring Laos! The whole area is huge so you can endlessly walk there for hours. I also recommend daytime! Nobody is there but still beautiful. Mekong River is just beside - also nice walk along the embankment. Enjoy! #yunnantravel #xishuangbanna

interesting taste of Thailand and Burma without having to cross the border. fly direct from most cities. no Covid here. hotel prices reasonably low, with a tropical feel. I boycott anything with live elephants because of the issue of how they are treated. besides, elephants deserve to be free.
come in March-April when the temperature is just right, not to hot, not too cold. you can't get to the border as a foreigner, which sucks, or to the minority village.
.
all in all, it is a great place for a quick getaway. don't miss the often photographed night market, surrounded by Bhuddas. lots of food there, so come hungry
