Suzhou Gardens, this is how you should capture its essence! Traditional Chinese cheongsam, a dream back to the Republic of China era
🎢【Suzhou Gardens Day Portrait Guide】
【Cheongsam Portrait Shooting Guide】
🗓Itinerary:
Choosing the location
Cheongsam is suitable for shooting in the Republic of China style streets or Ming and Qing Dynasty style grey tile white wall garden buildings.
So this time we chose Suzhou Gardens for shooting. Suzhou Gardens are famous for their unique classical architecture and exquisite garden landscapes. However, there are many tourists, so you can choose relatively less popular gardens. Suitable gardens: Liu Garden, Canglang Pavilion and Ke Garden are just across the street, Yipu, etc.
When choosing a shooting location, you can decide according to the style and scene you want. For example, Humble Administrator's Garden is famous for its exquisite architecture and waterscape, suitable for shooting elegant portraits; while Lion Grove has a unique rock landscape, suitable for shooting portraits with a certain wildness.
🕙Shooting time:
One hour before the opening and closing of the garden, avoid the crowd, you can enjoy a truly quiet garden.
📝Tips:
Make full use of the light in the garden, find the time near sunset. Create rich shadows and light and dark effects. For example, when shooting portraits, you can choose where the sunlight shines through the leaves, using the tree shadows to add a sense of layering to the picture.
🧳Composition techniques
Use garden elements: Suzhou Gardens are famous for their unique architecture and garden elements, these elements can serve as the background or props for portrait shooting. For example, when shooting portraits, you can choose to shoot in the garden's corridors, pavilions or stone bridges, using these buildings as the background for the portraits, enhancing the artistic sense of the picture.
Capture the moment: There are often some unique moments in Suzhou Gardens, such as ripples on the water, petals falling, etc.
Pay attention to composition and posture: When shooting portraits, the choice of composition and posture is very important. You can try different angles and shooting methods to create unique picture effects. At the same time, pay attention to the model's posture and expression, let them relax naturally, showing their best state.
The most important thing is to make good use of the various shapes of door frames and stone windows in the garden: The background of Suzhou Gardens is often exquisite architecture and landscapes, which can echo with the portraits. When shooting portraits, you can use the garden background, interact with the model, and create interesting picture effects. For example, when shooting portraits, you can let the model and the flowers and plants in the garden complement each other, adding a sense of liveliness to the picture.

The rose bushes in Zhuanzhu Alley are full of life and poetry amidst the crowd
The roses in Zhuanzhu Alley,
Half are the worldly life,
The other half are the poetic essence of spring,
Compared to the 'high walls and large courtyards' of the Art Garden,
This place is brimming with the atmosphere of daily life.
It is worth mentioning that Zhuanzhu Alley is also filled with historical and cultural ambiance.
The name of the alley comes from Zhuan Zhu, the brave warrior who assassinated King Liao of Wu during the Spring and Autumn period. There is also a Zhou King Temple in the alley. When the Zhou King Temple was rebuilt, it was turned into the 'Jade Guild Hall' for craftsmen from Suzhou. The jade carvers of Suzhou's Zhuanzhu Alley revere King Xuanling of Zhou as the patron saint of their trade, and the treasure of the temple, a fine piece of Suzhou jade carving—the Jade Toad, is now well preserved in the Suzhou Museum.

National Heritage Check-in: Yi Pu (National Level VI)
Yi Pu, located at No. 5 Wenyabang Alley, Changmen, Gusu District, is a sixth batch national key cultural relic protection site, from the Ming Dynasty, classified as an ancient architectural site.
Yi Pu was originally built in the 20th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1541). It consists of a residential area and a garden. The residence is divided into five sections, including the Shilun Hall, Donglai Thatched Cottage, and the Biaoge Studio. The garden is to the west of the residence, with a central pond. To the north of the pond, the focus is on buildings, such as the Boya Hall, Yanguang Pavilion, and Yanggu Book Hall, while to the south, the emphasis is on mountainous scenery, with cliffs and stone paths by the pond made of lake rocks, offering both variety and a natural feel. To the east of the pond is the Rufish Pavilion, a remnant of the Ming Dynasty. Yi Pu's garden scenery is simple and open, natural and unpretentious. Wen Zhengming's great-grandson Wen Zhenmeng once lived here.

The Masterpiece of Suzhou Classical Gardens - The Yi Garden
The Yi Garden, also known as the Drunken Ying Hall and the Medicine Garden, is located at No. 5 Wenya Alley inside the gate of Suzhou City, and was originally built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. In November 2000, the Yi Garden was inscribed on the 'World Heritage List' by UNESCO.
The Yi Garden has preserved the style of Ming Dynasty gardens, winning with its simplicity, openness, natural simplicity, and exquisite construction. The garden's scenery is serene and can be called a fine work among the residential gardens of the Ming Dynasty. Therefore, it has high historical and artistic value.

There is a small magnolia tree by the central lake in Zhipu, and two large magnolia trees in front of the Donglai Thatched Cottage.

I declare that the spring of the Art Garden begins with this red plum blossom
The cold heart refuses to follow the spring mood, and the wine flushes unreasonably onto the jade skin.
The old poet does not know the plum's stature, yet looks again at the green leaves and the blue branches.
In the secluded alley, the small public garden and art garden,
Each season has its own characteristics,
And for the Art Garden's spring,
I think it is started by this red plum blossom!

In different seasons
Suzhou gardens always show people different beauty
At the end of winter, the plum blossoms bloom
Under the flickering light and shadow, every scene is like a painting
I have to say, the aesthetics of our ancestors are something.

Yipu is located in Wenyang Lane, Suzhou City, and currently covers an area of about 3,800 square meters. Its predecessor was the Zuiying Hall built by Yuan Zuge during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. After several changes of ownership, it was renamed Yipu during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. The Yipu we see now was rebuilt after it was bought by a silk industry peer in the 19th year of Daoguang.
The layout and gardening techniques of Yipu are concise, loose, natural and simple, and retain more of the style of Ming Dynasty gardens. The place where we are now is the entrance of Yipu. You can see the four characters 'City Mountain Forest' on the door lintel. This is the owner's positioning of Yipu and the owner's yearning for the wild interest of mountains and forests.

Roses are beautiful, but I love the unnoticed banana trees more | Suzhou Art Garden
This is not my first time to the Art Garden, it's small and not crowded in my memory. This time, I expected it to be crowded, but I didn't expect it to be this crowded. The roses at the entrance were in full bloom, surrounded by a sea of people. Even when it was close to closing time, the crowd only slightly decreased.
If everyone loves it, even if I originally loved it very much, it seems to become less likable, like a carefully guarded secret being torn open and suddenly occupied, inadvertently disturbed.
Banana trees, my favorite lush green, rarely attract attention, there is a kind of surprise of accidental encounter. The various postures of curling and looking up, large patches, set off against the flower window and white wall, are all good-looking.
The cat I met when I turned the corner and looked up, before I could see a cat face clearly, it turned around with its tail high and went to the other side of the eaves. After a few steps, I didn't expect to see it again. Its round body crossed the ridge of the roof, looking both funny and hardworking. I meowed twice, it turned its head back, its eyes were provocative and fierce, as if saying: 'Stupid humans, what are you looking at, haven't you seen a cat climb a wall?'

Yipu, a "secluded" garden hidden deep in the alley
In the Wenya Alley in front of the Tianku in Changmen, Suzhou City, there is a small garden covering only five acres, named "Yipu". Although Yipu is small, it is exquisite and beautiful, elegant and beautiful. The pavilions and pavilions in the Yipu Garden are exquisitely constructed. The garden is full of vitality, and the path is secluded. In ancient times, the wealthy families in Suzhou liked to build their treasured gardens deep in the secluded alleys, like the shy rich daughters hidden in the boudoir, Yipu belongs to this kind of small family jade garden.
Following the navigation, turning left and right, winding and turning, the author finally arrived at Yipu after a lot of twists and turns. The gate of Yipu is not grand, it is a typical Jiangnan architectural style. After entering the door, along the vine-covered path, through the Qixiang Public Office, you will come to the central pond of Yipu, which is the essence of Yipu. The halls and rooms in the garden are built around the water: there are Qixiang Public Office, Yanggu Shu Tang, Yangguang Pavilion, Xiangyue Corridor, Xiangcao Residence, Hechai Pavilion, Nanzhai, etc.
In the early spring, the central pond of Yipu is already full of plum blossoms, red, green, and yellow are competing to bloom, adding a touch of brilliant color to this ancient and simple garden. The pond is south of the fake mountain, which is piled up with soil. Where it is close to the water, it is stacked with lake stones to form cliffs and dangerous paths, and changes are seen in nature. Looking south from the north of the pool, the mountains and rocks here are rugged, the trees are lush, giving people a sense of the beauty of the mountains and forests, it can also be said to be the finishing touch of Yipu; to the west of the pond, it is the small courtyard of Qinlu, with a round hole door and other scenic areas. Both are separated and connected. Stepping into the courtyard, you can see a small pool in the courtyard, which seems to be connected with the large pool on the north side, which is unique in Suzhou gardens. The lake stones and flowers are scattered around the small pool in the courtyard, which is very elegant and comfortable.
As one of the nine gardens of Suzhou, a world cultural heritage, Yipu, Professor Liu Dunzhen, a master of architecture known as "South Liu and North Liang", gave this evaluation in the book "Suzhou Classical Gardens": "The layout is simple and open, the pool bank is low and flat, the water surface is concentrated, there is no feeling of congestion and crampedness, the style is natural and simple, and more of the original rules of the garden are preserved, with considerable historical value and artistic value."
The scenery of Yipu is beautiful and the garden is generous. Compared with some scenic spots that are overpriced, the ticket for Yipu is only ten yuan, which is very close to the people and worth the money, and the garden is worth the money. In the context of the current nationwide tourism boom, is it worth thinking about some of our domestic short-sighted scenic spots and attractions compared to Yipu?

Suzhou Tourism - Delicate and Quiet Yipu
For hundreds of years, Yipu, hidden in the deep alleys and shabby houses of the ancient city of Suzhou, has been listed on the 'World Heritage List' by UNESCO, but it is still somewhat deserted.
Yipu was originally the Zuiying Hall built by Yuan Zugeng in the Ming Dynasty. The second owner, Wen Zhenmeng, slightly repaired the already ruined Yipu and renamed it 'Yaopu'. In the 17th year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty, the garden belonged to Jiang Cai, a scholar of Chongzhen, and was later called 'Zhipu', which means the same as 'Yaopu'. Later, Yipu changed its owner several times. In the early Republic of China, it was a private house. It began to be repaired in the late 1970s. Although it was repeatedly repaired in modern times, it still retains the style, layout and gardening techniques of the Ming Dynasty gardens. The garden is delicate and quiet, and can be described as a masterpiece of Ming Dynasty gardens.
The entrance to Yipu is a winding, narrow alley. Old vines and green maples are planted against the wall, and stone bamboo and green bamboo stand in the corner. Following this alley like an ink painting, slowly entering the garden, the courtyard is deep, and the first thing you see is the water that occupies one-fifth of the area. The garden is not big, and you can see the whole garden from the edge of the pool. The method of seeing water at the entrance is a unique case in Suzhou gardens.
The overall layout of Yipu is 'south mountain and north water, half mountain and half water'. The layout of the whole garden is simple and open, the style is natural and simple, without complicated stacking and artificiality. From the layout of mountains and waters, the opening of pavilions to the detailed treatment of every flower and tree, it exudes the style characteristics of ancient elegance. The main building in the garden is Boya Hall, also known as Nianzu Hall, with a width of five rooms, a hard mountain structure, and the wooden structure is a relic of the Ming Dynasty. The South Courtyard has a rockery flower bed and plants flowers and trees.
The garden is full of scenery and few people, and it is quite enjoyable to visit the garden. Although it is not as famous as the Humble Administrator's Garden and the Lingering Garden, I like its natural simplicity and delicate quietness. Especially the 'Reflection Building', built in the lake, the reflection is clear as a mirror, and it is beautiful. If you wear a Hanfu and walk on the bluestone road of Yipu, it seems that you can travel through time and enter an ancient Chinese painting.

Wearing Hanfu is a must when visiting gardens in Suzhou
A few days ago, I went to Suzhou for a stroll and arranged a Hanfu photo shoot for my child. I did the styling myself and hired a young lady photographer. Unexpectedly, the child was very cooperative during the shoot, and the photos turned out great. The photographer was very friendly with the child, they held hands as if they had known each other for a long time. I didn't have to worry about anything. The shooting location was Yipu, which should be considered a relatively niche garden, hidden in an alley, inaccessible by car, and can only be reached by walking through a small city alley. The garden is not large but very exquisite, everywhere you go is a scene. Unfortunately, the maple leaves were not red at the time of shooting. Ten photos were retouched in post-production, but I still used my own retouching, out of habit. I plan to arrange another Hanfu shoot next spring.

The Art Garden of Suzhou
The Art Garden is a small but exquisite garden that preserves the style, layout, and gardening techniques of the Ming Dynasty. It wins with its concise, clear, natural and simple style, with delicate construction and serene garden scenery. The Art Garden is a cultural relic protection unit in Suzhou and has been listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. The entrance fee is 10 yuan. I came across a few young ladies taking photos in cheongsams with a Republic of China style, and I couldn't help but stop and admire for a while. The garden and the cheongsam match very well, and those who like it can go and check in.

A word leads to Jiangnan, a rain arrives in Jiangnan
A word leads to Jiangnan, a rain arrives in Jiangnan. Dreaming into the misty water path of Jiangnan, approaching Jiangnan, not meeting with the departed. I have arrived in Jiangnan again, at the beginning of spring, with many scenes like chaotic flowers dazzling the eyes. The green bricks and black tiles are like ink and wash, hazy and seemingly in a painting; the weak willows sway gently in the wind, brushing against the face as if entering a gentle land. Everyone says Jiangnan is good, tourists should only grow old in Jiangnan, the spring water is greener than the sky, the painting boat listens to the rain and sleeps. Jiangnan has nothing, just give a branch of spring.

This famous garden, built during the Ming Dynasty, is located amid small streets and deep alleyways. The surroundings are peaceful. This is a small, typical Ming-style garden that has preserved the essence of its time with ponds, stone paths, and rockeries. April marks the flowering period of the Japanese Roses in the Garden of Cultivation. This is by far the best time to visit!

The most beautiful geisha in Suzhou gardens
2-3 years ago, my friend came back from Suzhou and told me about the geisha that she never missed, and I began to look forward to it. But it is not clear from what time, the geisha of the niche became famous and became bustling and bustling.
"It's quite good," Su Daqiang, patriarchal, but the taxi sister in Suzhou said, how is it possible, we Suzhou like girls. Isn't it, Suzhou's bit by bit, the exudes are pure and gentle like a girl. Geisha, in my heart, is the most beautiful one.
The geisha's possession
geisha is hidden in the middle of the people's residence, and the entrance is hard to find. All the way up, there are serious signs at the beginning, the narrower the walk, the more I doubt the map in hand. In the end, I followed the guidelines of scribbling on the wall before I reached the entrance. It has also been deceived. In the meantime, it was suspected that there were businesses that deliberately made fake marks on the wall in order to attract passengers. It turns out that geisha is like a low key.
Geisha's small
geisha is the smallest of the Suzhou gardens. There is no promenade in the garden. There is no courtyard with a few rings. The buildings and courtyards around the pool are carefully designed and playful. Very rich.
Geisha's early
geisha is a garden of the Ming Dynasty, which is considered an early model of the Su Garden. The construction age is early, there are not many references, and relatively, it is less affected by others. The style here is simple and there is almost no trace of artificiality. It takes half an hour to walk around, but you have to spend your time immersing yourself. Going three or four laps, four or five laps, will not get bored.
Maple.
Geisha is the last garden to go to Suzhou this time, and it is my favorite. It is really big and hidden in the city, I heard that many locals can't find it. However, the old Suzhou especially likes to come here to enjoy the tea in the Yanguang Pavilion. It is also a city secret that only Suzhou knows.
Compared to the Lingering Garden, the geisha appears to be more refined and more arrogant, which may be related to its three owners. In history, the master of the geisha has a bit of sorrow, the first master is just right, from the grassroots counterattack to the high official but suddenly was dismissed, the second master is one of the four great talents of Wen Zhengming's descendants, is also a big talent, He also won the champion, but he was also dismissed for the official nine years. The third master has passed through the Ming and Qing dynasties. The geisha is where he used to express his ambition. He would rather live in the distance of the rivers and lakes and no longer loyal to the temple. high.
After three generations of masters, the geisha is not a big area, but it is a classic. It is a representative of Ming-style gardens and has been included in the world heritage.
Just entering the geisha, this wall full of vines deeply impressed us, how it really looks good.
The geisha takes water as the main body, and in the rain and rain, it is empty in the mountains and the water is vast. The language can't fully highlight its beauty. Although it is an ancient garden, many corners can take a sense of INS, but you can't drink tea after four o'clock.
This Yanguang Pavilion, which Suzhou likes, was built after the Seventh Public Office of the Qing Dynasty accepted the geisha. The Seven Miles Office is a weaving industry trade union. The Yanguang Pavilion of the Republic of China is also a very famous venue.
Address: No. 5, Wenyu Lane, Tianku, Tuen Mun
Morphie.
There are many alleys in the ancient city of Suzhou. The narrow cars in these alleys can't go in, and there aren't a few pedestrians. Most of the people who pass through the alley every day live in close proximity to each other. But occasionally, one or two strangers who look like backpackers walk through the alleys and seem to be looking for something. Because these alleys are hidden in lesser-known gardens. Geisha is such a small garden hidden deep in the old city. When it comes to Suzhou gardens, even those who have never been to Suzhou can say a few things, such as the Humble Administrator's Garden, such as the Lingering Garden, such as the Lion Lin Biao Lang Pavilion, which is famous all over the world. Most tourists go to these gardens when they visit Suzhou. One or two of them walked, and after reading it again, I thought that this is the whole of Suzhou gardens, but it is not. More small gardens are not known to outsiders, and locals seem to disdain. From the online search for the address of the geisha, you will find the words "Wenyu Lane No. 5". First of all, it is difficult to find the Wenyu, and the nearest bus stop is about 15 minutes walk from this alley. Only the motorcycles and bicycles can pass through the narrow alleys. According to the navigation of the mobile phone, after turning a few turns, I finally found a simple door. From the outside, I saw a common family of people, which read the words "geisha" and made sure that there was no mistake.
Speaking of geisha, it is also a fate. This small garden is not large, and the area is less than 4,000 square meters, less than one tenth of the Humble Administrator's Garden.
