[2025 Bali Attraction] Travel Guide for Gate of Heaven Lempuyang Temple (Updated Mar)

Lempuyang is a very popular spot in Bali! We left Ubud at 8:30 in the morning!! It takes about 2 hours to get to Lempuyang from Ubud, but we got stuck in traffic and it took about 3 hours, and we arrived just before noon! From there, we took a shuttle bus up the mountain, got a numbered ticket, and it was number 587!!! And we were told that we would have to wait 5 hours🤣🤣🤣🤣 We were told that we would have to wait an average of 2 hours, so we were prepared, but we didn't expect it to be 5 hours! Maybe it was because Lempuyang was closed for a festival the day before? We waited for an hour, but it didn't move forward, so we paid and went to nearby Lahangan Sweet! (I'll post about it later ✌️) After playing at Lahangan Sweet for about an hour, when we came back, our number was in the 400s! I guess everyone had given up and gone home~ Our number was hardly called from there, so it was our turn in about 10 minutes🤣 We got some great photos like the ones you see in travel magazines!! Lempuyang Temple The Instagram-famous photo spot 'The Reflection of the Gates of Heaven' is located at the top of Lempuyang Temple. To reach the top, you need to purchase a ticket and take a shuttle. The entire path up the mountain is quite steep, and the ticket includes the photo opportunity at the Gates of Heaven. The photo spot at the Gates of Heaven is not available for random shooting; you must queue up. You can pose for 5 to 10 shots, and the photographer will use special tools to create a mirror reflection effect in the photos. The dreamy aesthetics are created using photo trickery with a mirror to get that epic reflection shot. There is a whole team at work, which we guess is necessary to manage that many people. 💡 The best time to visit the place is early in the morning, just before sunrise when the temple is less crowded. Getting There - Hire/Rent a Car 🚗 - This is a 2-3 hour ride - We departed from the city to this place around 3AM and arrived just before 6AM - buy a shuttle bus tix - queue in line for the number for the picture taking at the famous gate at the temple (we got number 19) - once you got the number you kay proceed to the temple, just a little hike up about 5-10 minutes - practice your 5 poses - ideal number would be 25-40 since its still foggy by the time we took our pictures and the mt. Agung isn’t visible. Attractions - temple Food & Restaurants - we brought breakfast so while waiting we can eat. - there’s a local warung below the temple - I recommend to check the place below the famous gate, we had plenty of time taking pictures below and there was no queue. Just give a donation to the local photog Shopping - you can buy some souvenirs beside the temple. #lempuyangtemple

#christmastrip 📍 Lempuyang Temple The highlights of this temple is to come and take pictures at what they call the Heavenly gate. On a clear day you can actually see Mt. Agung in the background. When we came it was cloudy but very cool pictures anyway. 🚐 From the parking lot you can take a shuttle bus up to the temple. At this place I would actually recommend taking the shuttle because it’s on a hill that is quite steep. 🎫 Once we arrived at the hotspot we had to pay the entrance and then we got a number. We were 151 and when we arrived they were at 106, so we did have to wait for a while. There are shades to hide under and they will announce your number on a speaker so that you don’t have to stand in line. I did not check the time but we might have waited for two hours. 📸 When it’s your turn you give them your phone and they will take pictures for you, they will use a mirror to get the special effect. #favouriteitinerary #bali If you haven’t seen Bali’s gate of heaven then I would say you’re lying. Nearly everybody I know that goes there posts a picture with it! This place is notorious itself for the magical feel. Before going, people told me Bali was overrated and too crowded but all it took was looking at the amazing views to realize that it was all worth it! Their green fields and the coasts are one of the few things that I will always remember from vacations. The only downside of Bali was that people were right about the traffic in Seminyak and Canggu! Also the lizards :’) Would love to stay in a private villa the next time I visit!

#bali Have you seen those pictures in instagram of huge gates and pond that reflect sky and gates? There’s no pond, it’s just a small truck with using a mirror. Entrance fee is 50 k rupees (3.5$) + shuttle bus that take you to the gates 40 k (2.8$) and if you go there not to the opining time which is 6 a.m, you will wait couple of hours to take a photo in gates because there will be a lot of people! Actually there is nothing else to see . You can’t enter the temple . Just gates and a few coffee shops.

#balitrip The place is really nice and you can really feel it’s sacred. We went there in the afternoon We arrived around 2 pm. Since we were in a group, we waited about 3 hours to capture the photo taken by everyone there . If it were only up to us, we wouldn’t have waited this long. We will just leave The picture would have been better if I could see the mountain in the back. There are also other places in Bali that offer excellent views and opportunities for great photo shoots. The guys who sit there take pictures are very friendly and impressed by their patience! I would just suggest whether there is some kind of salad to keep the place clean or even some other boxes as there is a lot of garbage left by all visitors. We got here around 6.45am and it wasn't too crowded. 55 thousand entries per person, including a ticket for a picture of the sky gates. We were number 28 We weren’t going to wait for the picture after reading the queue reviews but since we were only 28 years old, we decided to wait. You don’t have to get a shuttle bus, the gates are only a 5-minute walk to the top of the hill. They offer a shuttle service for 10,000 per person if you want! We waited maybe 30 minutes but when we finished around 7.30, we saw that people had the number 90 on their card, so if you want a picture, it's worth getting there early! There are 7 temples in total and it takes about 4 hours to explore everything. So glad I came because the pictures are beautiful

Make sure you plan your itineraries, if possible join any groups in any social media to help you decide on what is better to do. Hiring a private tour guide/driver is the easiest way to enjoy your trip! 2. Food in Bali is quite cheap and there's a lot of western resto and bar but since you're in Bali make sure to try all their Balinese food, trust me you'll definitely love it! 3. Shopping souvenirs is a bit intimidating since all vendors and shops have the same products. They tend to post some price signage which is not the actual price . Make sure to ask them and confirm the price and don't haggle too much (Let locals earn). 4. BALINESE MASSAGE and Water flower therapy is a must! 5. Avoid Bali Belly!
