Golden Lane - Prague, Czech Republic
Golden Lane is located within the grounds of Prague Castle, in Prague, Czech Republic. It’s a picturesque street that offers a glimpse into the city’s medieval history. It’s a must-visit attraction for history enthusiasts, photographers & those finding a unique travel experience.
Dating back to the 16th century, Golden Lane is a narrow lane lined with small colourful houses that were originally built for castle guards, artisans & goldsmiths.
Walking along Golden Lane feels like stepping back in time. You will be able to enter some houses & discover various exhibits showcasing historical artefacts, armor, medieval weapons & traditional crafts.
The cobblestone street, together with the charming facades & colourful buildings create a fairytale-like atmosphere. I would highly recommend visiting Golden Lane during your trip to Prague.

Golden Lane: A Colorful Walk Through History at Prague Castle
#europetrip #prague #Goldenlane
Visiting Golden Lane at Prague Castle was like stepping into a fairy tale. Originally built in the 16th century to house Rudolf II's castle guards, it takes its name from the goldsmiths who lived there in the 17th century. The charming little houses, painted in bright, cheerful colors, each hold their own unique history and character. For instance, the fortuneteller Matylda Průšová lived in number 14 before World War II. In the summer of 1916, Franz Kafka’s sister rented house number 22, where Kafka himself spent a year writing. Later, in 1929, Jaroslav Seifert, who went on to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1984 and became a signatory of Charter 77, lived here. Wandering through this picturesque alleyway felt magical, especially in the early morning when we had it almost to ourselves. The absence of crowds allowed us to fully appreciate the beauty, tranquility, and rich history of this special lane. Golden Lane is a must-see, but be sure to go early to enjoy its charm in peace.

There is a famous golden alley in Prague, Czech Republic. The small alley is a small house with a fairy tale. This alley is so famous because of the small house number 22, where the writer Kafka once lived.
A student's "Transformation", the hero wakes up and becomes a story of the Beatles, which makes me very impressed with Kafka...
Loociwin.
In the Prague Castle, the location of the Golden Lane is not obvious. After turning into an alley, you will arrive at the golden alley where the lodge stands, like a small house in a fairy tale. This is the most poetic street in Prague. The Golden Lane was originally the place where the servant artisans lived. Later, because of the collection of many warlocks of the king's alchemy, this name was given. However, after the 19th century, it gradually became a slum. Re-planning in the mid-20th century, the original house was changed to a small shop, now you can see different kinds of souvenirs and handicrafts in each store. The Kafka Book House on the 22nd is one of them. Kafka used to like the environment of Golden Lane very much, so I rented the house with the number 22 on the house as a studio at 20 kr. per month, and silently completed the unknown work "Country Doctor" and " Report to the Academy of Sciences.
Jojos trip.
A colourful golden alley that takes you back to the fairy tale world. Come to Prague Castle, how can you miss this alley full of childishness!
There are a lot of tourists coming and going here. The whole alley is full of lovely toy stores. I don't know if I can find your childhood here.
