Hohhot | The Beauty of Islamic Architecture at the Great Mosque
If you visit the Huimin District's Kuangxiangzi in Hohhot to check out various delicacies, you can also visit the Great Mosque along the way to appreciate the beauty of Islamic architecture and experience different ethnic customs.
All the above pictures were taken with the original Xiaomi 14, and they all look beautiful no matter how you shoot them. Although I don't understand architecture, I can still feel its unique beauty.
⚠️ Friendly Reminder: Visit civilly and respect the customs of different ethnic groups. 🚫 Do not mention 🐷 (Don't misunderstand 🐷 as sacred or as the ancestor who saved someone; what you're thinking of is the reason why the Manchu people don't eat 🐶, not why the Hui people don't eat 🐷).
⚠️ If women want to visit the Great Mosque, do not wear clothes that are above the knee; short skirts and shorts are not allowed!
⚠️ The main hall is a place for worship and is not open for visits.
Parking 🚗 is available at the parking lot under the Aibo Feast Building, 4 meters per hour.
Halal specialty snacks: Youxiang, Sazi...
Inner Mongolia Museum was founded in 1957, and it is the largest comprehensive museum in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China, as well as one of the earliest established museums in the ethnic minority regions of the country. The new museum was completed in 2007, with a total construction area of 64,200 square meters. The architecture has distinctive ethnic characteristics, and its overall shape is modern and innovative, organically integrated with the surrounding environment. Its meaning is 'On the vast grassland stands a Mongolian yurt engraved with historical rings, moving from the profound ancient times to a beautiful future.' The museum's treasures include: Warring States period gold crown ornament with an eagle top, Han dynasty bronze stove with dragon head, Liao dynasty painted wooden coffin, Liao dynasty princess gold mask, and Jun kiln 'Xiao Song Zizao' incense burner. Around the museum, there are also art galleries, art theaters, and science museums, which you can visit if you have time.
Zhaojun Museum is located on the bank of the Dahei River in the southern suburbs of Hohhot, based on the tomb of Wang Zhaojun, and is an archaeological museum that integrates the collection, protection, research, display, and social education of cultural relics. The museum features 'Zhaojun Culture,' 'Xiongnu Culture,' and 'Heqin Culture,' and has permanent exhibitions such as 'Zhaojun Going Beyond the Great Wall,' 'Xiongnu Historical and Cultural Exhibition,' and 'Ancient Chinese Heqin Culture Exhibition.' Zhaojun's Tomb, also known as Qingzhong in historical documents, has been clearly recorded since the Tang Dynasty. According to research, it was artificially built and rammed during the Han Dynasty, about 33 meters high, with a base area of 13,000 square meters, and is one of the largest Han tombs in China.
The Qingzhen Mosque, located in the Hui District of Hohhot, was built in the 32nd year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1693), and is the oldest and largest mosque in Hohhot. The Qingzhen Mosque faces east and west, and is an independent three-entry courtyard, covering an area of more than 4,000 square meters. The temple gate has three rooms, and the 'Qingzhen Mosque' plaque is hung directly above.

Inner Mongolia Tourism | Chinese-style Exotic Charm, Hohhot Great Mosque
The Hohhot Great Mosque is the result of the development and innovation based on traditional Chinese architectural culture. It generally reflects the layout of traditional Chinese temple architecture, but the main buildings are connected by a central axis, and the buildings on both sides are not strictly symmetrical. The arrangement of entering the main gate and then the main hall in an inverted manner shows a flexible and unconstrained layout idea, which is a breakthrough from the traditional method.
The Hohhot Great Mosque faces west from the east and is an independent three-entry courtyard. The temple gate has three bays, with a horizontal plaque reading 'Great Mosque' hanging above. Inside the temple gate, directly opposite is the back wall of the prayer hall. The main entrance of the prayer hall faces east with three arches, and there is a small platform in front of the door. To the south is the storeroom. At the southwest corner of the three-entry courtyard stands the Moon-Viewing Tower.

Hohhot's weather is so nice that a casual snapshot is very healing.
➡️What can you do in Hohhot city area?
This time I didn't go to the grasslands, as the grass hasn't grown in April, so I mainly wandered around the city area for two days~
1⃣️Dazhao Temple: Recommended level🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Pictures 1 to 8
The ticket is 35 per person, we didn't make a reservation and just scanned the code to buy it at the temple entrance~
The temple is very large, with a visiting time of one hour, it has very large Buddha statues and buildings, very characteristic of Mongolia, and the photos look great~
Mongolian portrait photography📷: This time I took one at a photo studio, 299 per person, including makeup and clothes, photography, thirty negatives and eight retouched photos
☑️Photography experience: The service attitude is very good, I am very satisfied with the makeup! I wish I could weld the cloud decoration onto my face haha, the photographer will tell you a lot of movements that suit you👋☑️❤️
2⃣️Baohantan Pagoda: Recommended level🌟🌟🌟🌟
Free admission🆓
The pagoda is really beautiful when the lights are on at night! There is a pair of eyes on the tower that feels very mysterious, and when I got there, it was already night, after taking photos you can walk around the tower three times to pray for peace~
3⃣️Xilitu Zhao: Recommended level🌟🌟🌟
The ticket is 25 per person, not very cost-effective
There are a lot of pigeons at the entrance that are very photogenic! The temple is relatively small, and you can quickly walk around it, there is also a tower inside that looks very good, when there is sunlight it feels like a golden shining pagoda!
4⃣️Qingzhen Mosque: Recommended level🌟🌟🌟🌟
Free admission🆓
The temple has a great vibe, when the wind blows the ribbons fluttering everywhere it's really healing! But it's also a bit small and you can finish visiting soon~
➡️What can you eat in Hohhot city area?
This time I mainly ate at two restaurants, neither of which was a disappointment!
1⃣️Ice-cooked lamb: Recommended level🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Originally we went to Ze Cheng which always requires queuing, and the service attitude was not good so we ran to another one. It turned out to be quite delicious!
There are group purchase meal vouchers, we bought a double set for 129, and we were very full!
The lamb is very fresh, without any off-flavor~
2⃣️De Shun Yuan: Recommended level🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The average price of this restaurant is 30 per person, super cheap
We ordered a lamb offal soup and shaomai
The lamb shaomai is so delicious! Fresh and juicy, as a local Cantonese, I really love it, no gamey taste~
➡️Where can you stay in Hohhot city area?
This time we stayed at the four-star Wan Hao Hotel, four hundred a night, the environment is very good, only ten minutes drive from Hohhot East Station
The hotel is very smart, with smart toilets and curtains, and I am very satisfied with the bathroom with wet and dry separation!
➡️How to get around in Hohhot city area?
Ride a shared electric scooter🛵! There are several companies! It can seat two people, highly recommended!
If it's too far, you can take a taxi, it's very convenient and not expensive in Hohhot~
In the end, I want to say! Although there are not many things to play with in Hohhot, there were not many tourists during Qingming, it was not crowded and very quiet, and I also took some nice photos, personally, I am quite satisfied~

China's Dairy Capital, The Green City Beyond the Great Wall (Part IV): The Great Mosque
The Great Mosque, located on Tongdao South Road in Da Bei Street of Hui Min District in Hohhot, the capital city, is a well-preserved ancient building, constructed in the 32nd year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1693 AD).
According to the inscriptions on the stele of the mosque's north and south lecture halls, 'Since the establishment of the Great Qing dynasty, it has been built over many years.' Initially, the construction was quite simple, but it was significantly renovated in the 54th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1789 AD).
In 1923, the local Hui people raised funds for another renovation, which led to its current scale. The mosque covers an area of about 4,000 square meters.
After the renovation, the main hall was raised by 1.7 meters, and the total area of the mosque was expanded by several dozen square meters. The mosque faces east to west, with the main entrance in the middle bearing a plaque with the inscription 'The Great Mosque' and the words 'National Peace' and 'People's Safety'.
There was originally a screen wall in front of the temple gate, over one Zhang tall (now demolished). The outer back wall of the main hall faces the main entrance directly.
There are side doors to the south and north of the main entrance, with blue walls on both sides.
Inside the main gate is the main hall—the main building of the temple, with a unique design. The hall door faces east and has three arch-shaped doors. The lintel is engraved with fine Arabic script, and in front of the main hall is a 'moon platform,' which leads into the main hall when ascended.
In addition to the sanctuary, there are also north and south lecture halls, Muslim baths, the Moon-Watching Tower, the Imam's office, the elders' meeting room, the scripture hall, and other buildings.
There is a stele pavilion in the mosque, among which the 'Hongwu Emperor's Inscribed Hundred-Word Stele for the Huihui Religion' and the 'Stele of the Great Mosque's Renovation in Suiyuan' are of significant research value.
The Moon-Watching Tower, the minaret to the southeast of the mosque, was built in 1933. It is 33 meters high, hexagonal in plan, and has a hexagonal spire. It is named for its use during the month of Ramadan to mark the beginning and end of fasting upon sighting the new moon.
The tower has two stories, shaped like bamboo sections, forming a hexagonal body. The west side of the tower is inscribed with the words 'Moon-Watching Tower' in both Chinese and Arabic.

Allah blesses, rectify the mind and cultivate oneself | Hohhot Grand Mosque
🕌️【National Day Seven-Day Joy·Allah Blesses, Rectify the Mind and Cultivate Oneself】There is a mosque complex in Hohhot city that was built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The bright and lively colors are eye-catching. The exquisite arches of the main prayer hall, coupled with Islamic-style decorations, are very beautiful. The Moon-watching Tower built during the Republic of China stands tall. Interestingly, we witnessed a unique Muslim wedding here, solemn and festive. Any faith should be respected, and the blending of various cultures will make this world more colorful.
📝Note tips:
1, The Grand Mosque does not require a ticket🎫
2, The dried beef jerky from Ma Zhangguang's commercial street at the entrance of the Grand Mosque is very delicious, you can take some
LILLIAN LITTLE
The Great Mosque
The Great Mosque is located outside the north gate of the old city, it was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and was once the residence of Heshuo Gejing.
The architecture of the Great Mosque is different from the surrounding Islamic style street, it is in traditional Chinese architectural style, paired with the deep green of Islam.

Free attractions in Hohhot: The Great Mosque
The Great Mosque is also a spot where many tourists check in. I put it after the penultimate stop and prepared to go back after buying special products.
Location: No. 28, South Tongdao Street, Huimin District, Hohhot.
The Great Mosque was built in the 32nd year of Kangxi and is now a standard building in Hohhot. No reservation is required, and no one is watching. You can directly enter for a visit. The visit area is limited to the yard, and the interior is not open. So you can see the place of worship inside through the glass. There are also some steles in the yard, describing the various changes that the mosque and its surroundings have experienced. The whole yard is mostly green, with a little fresh style. If you don't look carefully, about ten minutes is enough.
