Kunming’s Green Wonder!
Attraction name: Green Lake Park (Cui Hu Gong Yuan)
Location: Central Kunming, Yunnan province.
The Green Lake park in Kunming is located in the centre of this spring city. There is a metro station nearby and the taxi price is inexpensive in the us city.
Enter from the South Gate and walk around the entire lake. It takes 50 minutes to walk right around. See the beautiful lily pads, trees, and flowers as you wander through the green space.
A must when visiting Kunming!

Gorgeous Park
Beautiful park in Kunming, Yunnan. Loved the ducks and wildlife here. The green colour comes from the algae and the greenery of the lotus leaves. When they are in full bloom they are breathtakingly beautiful.
It's a reasonably sized park, nice to walk around and get some fresh air. It's not that new so has a more authentic vibe than some of China's overly manicured parks. You'll see lots of locals strolling and enjoying themselves.
Wonderful spot

Kunming - Place worth moving to.
Great city to visit. Vibrant, breathable, interesting, historical and most of all relaxed. The city is reasonably large and spread out around the lake Dianchi, but the interesting part of the city center is actually rather compact and easy to navigate on foot or with one of the numerous e-bikes you can find parked almost everywhere. Aim to have your hotel somewhere between WuYi and the DongFeng Guang Chan subway stations if you want to be close to the pedestrian streets and tourist center. There are some places you will want to use the subway or taxi for, like the XiShan or the Yunnan Ethnic village, both of which I highly recommend, but Green Lake park, Yuantong temple, NanChang Jie, Kunming Lao Jie are all situated in the center and easily reached on foot.
The climate in winter was super pleasant, with bright clear skies and comfortable 15-20c during the day. During the night the temperature drops considerably, but it does not seem to stop the locals from dining on the open terraces.
The city actually has so many great things to see and visit, that it is basically up to you how long you wish to stay. We extended our stay twice and honestly, I would seriously consider moving to this city long term, because it does feel like it has got it all.

An afternoon stroll in Green Lake park
Green lake or Cui Hu park is a beautiful urban park in the center of downtown Kunming. It is a park of several large lakes, which have different classical chinese water plants on them, such as lily pads, lotus plants, bamboo and trees.
This park was about 10 minutes walk from our hotel and is right next to Yunnan university. It was free to enter and a really nice place to walk around, there are many souvenir, food and drink shops around the park, and different areas to explore with some small pagodas and temples. There is also a small museum about tap water within the park which was sadly closed.
My favourite part of the park was the bamboo forest, with several types of bamboo which stretched up into the sky and hung down over the path making it shady even in the middle of the day it was an incredible effect to walk through.
A great place to take an afternoon stroll in Kunming.

Kunming- Green Lake Park
“Green Lake Park, aka Cuihu Park, situated almost in the city center and facing Yunnan University, is one of the most beautiful parks in Kunming city. It is at the foot of Luofeng Mountain and on the west side of Wuhua Mountain. Green Lake itself occupies 15 hectares (37 acres) in the 21-hectare (52 acres) Green Lake Park and used to be a part of Dianchi Lake, but has become an independent lake now because of the water level decreasing of Dianchi.”
📍 Getting there - I believe the closest subway station is Panjiawan (line 3).
I personally rode a bike there. It is very easy to get around in Kunming!
Attractions - It’s a lovely and peaceful park. I went there around 7pm and it wasn’t really busy.
Recommended time - I stayed there for about an hour and a half. I’d recommend you bring food and drinks so you can enjoy a little picnic!

The stunning street views of Kunming in spring make people linger and forget to return
Kunming in spring, the city known as 'Spring City', seems to be forever immersed in gentle sunshine and intoxicating fragrance of flowers. Wandering through the streets and alleys of Kunming, you will find that spring here has a unique charm, as if the air is filled with a vibrant breath.
In the morning, when the first ray of sunlight falls on the surface of Cuihu Park's lake, the water suddenly looks like it's sprinkled with a layer of gold dust, shimmering and extremely beautiful. The willow trees by the lake sprout tender green branches, swaying gently, as if to greet the passing visitors. The early birds sing melodiously on the branches, intertwining with the soft breathing of people exercising and the melodious music of Tai Chi, forming a harmonious picture of the morning light.
Walking along Cuihu East Road, you will soon arrive at the famous Dongfeng Square. This place was once the commercial center of old Kunming and is still bustling today. The fountains on the square dance to the rhythm of the music, attracting many children to play and frolic. The surrounding old buildings and modern skyscrapers complement each other, telling the story of the city's historical changes.
Continuing on, passing through the bustling Nanping Pedestrian Street, you will find yourself in a neighborhood filled with a strong local atmosphere—the Jingxing Flower and Bird Market. This place is not only a paradise for flowers, birds, fish, and insects, but also full of a wide variety of small commodities and authentic Kunming snacks. Walking in the crowded alleys, smelling the fragrance of fresh flowers and various delicious foods, listening to the cries of the vendors and the laughter of tourists, it feels like you have returned to the old times.
In the afternoon, why not visit the Kunming World Expo Garden located in the city center. Here, the horticultural essence of the world is gathered, and strolling among them is like visiting beautiful gardens around the globe. At this time, Kunming is in the midst of spring, with countless flowers blooming competitively, cherry blossoms, peach blossoms, tulips... They sway gently in the warm spring breeze, as beautiful as poetry and painting.
In the evening, climb up to the Western Hills to overlook the entire city of Kunming, and you will see a magnificent scene: the sparkling Dian Lake under the sunset, the Sleeping Beauty of the Western Hills lying quietly by the lake, and the entire city of Kunming shrouded in a golden glow. This peaceful and beautiful scene makes one want to cherish it forever.
As night falls and the lights come on, the street scene of Kunming changes again. Neon lights flicker, and the traffic is busy, but it still retains that unique tranquility and serenity. Walking on such streets, with the spring breeze on your face, even the tiredness of the heart is released.
The street views of Kunming in spring are like a flowing painting, changing colors and postures every moment. Whether it is the long history or the modern prosperity, the city always greets every visitor with its most beautiful side. Here, every detail is full of the taste of life, and every step is an unforgettable journey.

Cuihu Park - The Emerald.
Cuihu Park is known as an emerald embedded in Kunming City, and it's not an exaggeration 📸. Inside the park, willow branches drape down 📸🌹, swaying in the wind 📸🌹, graceful and overwhelmingly beautiful 💯👍. I visited Cuihu Park in the evening, strolling along the green paths 🥰, basking in the sunset, feeling extraordinarily content 🥰. I walked and paused 😘, sat by the lake 👍💯😍📸, experiencing the local's slow pace of life. When tired, I stepped into a lakeside cafe for a cup of coffee ☕, watching the twilight slowly merge into the lake 📸❤️.

A springtime rendezvous, wandering through the rapeseed flower seas of Kunming, Yunnan
The spring breeze is gentle, and as it caresses my face, I arrive in Kunming, Yunnan, a city where flowers bloom in abundance. With the early spring, vast fields of golden rapeseed flowers burst into view, like a magnificent tapestry that intoxicates the senses.
The first stop, I find myself in Kunming's Luosiwan rapeseed flower sea, strolling amidst the endless golden hues. The breeze blows, the sea of flowers sways, emitting a faint fragrance. Distant mountains and villages appear and disappear in the haze, creating a beautiful landscape. Here, I feel the breath of spring and my mood becomes exceptionally joyful.
Next, I head to Dongchuan Red Land in Kunming, where not only the red soil is striking but also adorned with golden rapeseed flowers, presenting a uniquely beautiful scenery. The sunlight filters through the clouds, shining on the sea of flowers, making them glitter as if it were a golden ocean, captivating the heart.
Finally, I arrive at Kunming's Cuihu (Green Lake) Park, an ideal place to admire the rapeseed flower sea. The lake water is crystal clear, surrounded by lush greenery, and the rapeseed flowers bloom right by the lake, reflecting in the water, a sight too beautiful for words. I find a corner to settle down quietly, listening to the wind and the birds, feeling the beauty of nature.
In Kunming, Yunnan, the blooming rapeseed flowers fill the spring atmosphere, each sight a beautiful painting that makes one linger and forget to return. The spring sunshine warms the body, the breeze brushes the face, and the heart is filled with joy and gratitude. Green Lake Park
#hiddengems
Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and tranquility of Green Lake Park, a serene oasis nestled in the heart of Kunming, China. As a nature enthusiast and avid traveler, I recently had the pleasure of exploring this picturesque park, and it truly exceeded all expectations.
From the moment I stepped foot into Green Lake Park, I was captivated by its lush greenery, tranquil waters, and vibrant array of flora and fauna. The park's centerpiece, the expansive Green Lake, shimmered under the sun, its crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding mountains and sky in a breathtaking panorama.
As I strolled along the park's winding pathways, I encountered charming pavilions, scenic bridges, and quaint tea houses nestled among the trees. Locals and visitors alike gathered here to relax, socialize, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life amidst the beauty of nature.
One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to observe the park's resident black-headed gulls, who migrate to Green Lake every winter from Siberia. Watching these graceful birds soar through the air and glide across the water was a truly mesmerizing experience that left me in awe of the wonders of the natural world.
But perhaps the most magical moment of all was witnessing the park come alive at sunset. As the golden rays of the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the lake, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of peace and serenity wash over me.
As I reluctantly bid farewell to Green Lake Park, I left with a renewed appreciation for the beauty of nature and the importance of preserving our natural habitats. Whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat, a leisurely stroll, or simply a moment of quiet reflection, Green Lake Park offers an unforgettable experience that will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and inspired.

Cuihu Park | Slow down your life!!!
| Slow down your life!!! Walking hurriedly from the noisy and complex city and the rigid workplace, as soon as you step into Cuihu, you will immediately feel relaxed both physically and mentally. Stress dissipates from life, and troubles and grievances are diluted a bit by the mundane concerns of daily life. Unconsciously, people's pace slows down, and they even stop to sit on the stone benches, looking at the surrounding scenery. 😌
Cuihu is the root of Kunming!!! 💚
The facilities in the park are as follows:
1. Guanyu Tower: A Qing Dynasty Chinese-style building, with pavilions and towers built along the lake for the pleasure of watching fish, it is a good place for leisure. 🐟
2. Lianhua Zen Temple: This is a temple that was rebuilt in the tenth year of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1884), and later converted into a stage by Long Yun, a place to experience traditional Chinese culture. 🎭
3. Haixin Pavilion: In the thirty-first year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1692), Wang Jiwen, the governor of Yunnan, built the 'Biyi Pavilion' on the island in the heart of Cuihu Lake, which we now call 'Haixin Pavilion'. 💖
4. Lotus and Willow Area: In summer, sitting on the dike covered with willows, quietly watching the splendid lotus flowers and lush lotus leaves, people often say: 'A world of fish in ten acres of lotus, half the city of willows and Buddhist towers.' You can also see a few Jacaranda trees by the lake, which is truly an unexpected delight. 🌿🌸

Spring Flower Viewing - Kunming Cuihu (Free Attraction) One
Address: No. 67, Cuihu South Road, Wuhua District, Kunming City, Yunnan Province
Before the Yuan Dynasty, the water level of Dianchi Lake was high, and this area was still a small bay outside the city, with many rice fields, vegetable gardens, and lotus ponds, hence the name "Caihaizi". Due to the nine springs in the northeast, which converge into a pool, it is also known as "Jiulongchi".
By the early years of the Republic of China, it was transformed into a garden. Willow trees were planted throughout the garden, and lotus flowers were cultivated in the lake, thus it began to be known as the beautiful "Cuihu".
Within the garden, the Ruan Dike (built in 1834 with funds allocated by Ruan Yuan, the Governor of Yunnan and Guizhou), which runs north to south, and the Tang Dike (constructed in 1919 with funds allocated by Tang Jiyao, who was then the Commander-in-Chief of the Nationalist Army of Yunnan, Sichuan, and Guizhou provinces under Sun Yat-sen), divide Cuihu into five scenic areas; the central island scenic area is dominated by Qing Dynasty structures such as the Lake Center Pavilion and the Fish Viewing Tower.
Particularly worth mentioning is that since 1985, a large number of seagulls have flown from Siberia to Kunming to spend the winter every year, and some of them settle in Cuihu. This fully demonstrates Kunming's eternal spring.
🌈Transportation: Take bus No. 1 and get off at Yunnan University Station, or take bus No. 101 and get off at Cuihu, or take buses No. 5, 23, 4, etc., and get off at Xiaoximen Station and walk there.
🌈When we went, camellias, azaleas, and tulips were in bloom.

Cuihu is the eye of Kunming
Kunming Cuihu Park. Cuihu Park is located at the foot of Luofeng Mountain in Kunming city, at the west foot of Wuhua Mountain, opposite the main gate of Yunnan University, formerly known as Cai Haizi. This place was originally a bay in Dianchi Lake, but later became a clear lake due to the drop in water level.
Cuihu's water is sparkling, the trees are shaded, the building is in the heart of the wave, the environment is beautiful, it is a green gem in Kunming city. It enjoys the reputation of the jade in the city.
Before the Yuan Dynasty, the water level of Dianchi Lake was high, and this place was still a small lake bay outside the city, with many rice fields, vegetable gardens, and lotus ponds, so it was called 'Cai Haizi'. Because there are nine springs in the northeast, they converge into a pool, also known as 'Jiulong Pool'.
In the early years of the Republic of China, it was converted into a garden, with willow trees planted all over the garden, and lotus flowers planted in the lake, hence the beautiful name 'Cuihu'.

The Jade of Kunming - Cuihu Park
Cuihu is located at the foot of Luofeng Mountain in the center of Kunming. It was once a part of Dianchi Lake, but became a separate small lake due to the decline in the water level of Dianchi Lake. In the early years of the Republic of China, it was transformed into a park. With willow trees planted throughout the park and a variety of lotus flowers in the lake, it earned the beautiful name 'Cuihu'.
The waters of Cuihu are sparkling, surrounded by green trees and a beautiful environment, making it a green gem within the city of Kunming, worthy of the name 'The Jade of Kunming'. Its central location also makes it the first stop for people to learn about Kunming.
The park covers an area of 21 hectares and is divided into five scenic areas by the Ruan Causeway running north-south and the Tang Causeway extending east-west: the Lake Center Island scenic area is dominated by Qing Dynasty garden buildings such as the Lake Center Pavilion and the Fish Viewing Tower; the southeast side features the Shuiyue Pavilion and Goldfish Island; the northeast side has the Bamboo Island and the Jiulong Pond; the south side includes the Gourd Island and the Nine-Turn Bridge; and the west side is home to the Haixin Pavilion.
There is also an unassuming little house in the park, which is the pump room of Kunming's earliest waterworks, now the Kunming Water Supply History Museum, which briefly tells the history of Kunming's water supply.
Particularly worth mentioning is that since 1985, a large number of seagulls have flown from Siberia to Kunming to spend the winter every year, and some of them settle in Cuihu, making it a great place in Kunming to watch seagulls.

Spring Dawn at Cui Lake
Cui Lake Park is located at the foot of Luofeng Mountain in Kunming's city area, on the west side of Wuhua Mountain, opposite the main gate of Yunnan University. It was originally a bay of Dian Lake, but became a clear lake after the water level dropped. Cui Lake is shimmering with water, shaded by green trees, with pavilions in the heart of the waves, and a beautiful environment, making it a green gem in the city of Kunming, known as the 'Jade of the City'. It is said that before the Yuan Dynasty, when the water level of Dian Lake was high, this area was still a small bay outside the city, with many rice fields, vegetable gardens, and lotus ponds, hence it was called 'Vegetable Sea'. Due to the nine springs in the northeast, which converge into a pool, it was also named 'Nine Dragon Pool'. In the early years of the Republic of China, it was transformed into a park, with willow trees planted throughout and lotus flowers in the lake, thus earning the name 'Cui Lake'. Running through the park from south to north is Ruan Dike, which was built in 1834 by Ruan Yuan, the governor of Yunnan and Guizhou, imitating the beauty of Su Causeway on West Lake. Shuiyue Pavilion is located on the east side of Cui Lake's central island, connected to the east with Goldfish Island and to the west with Lotus Zen Temple, forming the central sightseeing area of Cui Lake. Waterfall flower walls, peacock-painted trees, rose flower hats... The Green Lake in spring is so beautiful that it feels unfamiliar to me.
Is this still the Green Lake Park I used to visit most often as a child?
The city's jade is formed by the convergence of springs into a pond.
On the embankment, there is a couplet that says 'Ten acres of lotus flowers make a fish world, half of the willows support the building terrace.'
Shaded by green trees, the water shimmers, and around the corner, there are exotic flowers and plants~ fiery sky.
Spring is in full swing, and here's a set of live pictures to prove it.
