Tianjin Fun
Tianjin is a historical city full of exotic charm 🏙. Over the course of more than 600 years, it has developed a unique cultural landscape that blends Chinese and Western elements, appealing to both refined and popular tastes.
The Haihe River is the mother river of Tianjin and also a witness to its history. Tianjin's small Western-style buildings are known as an exhibition hall of international architecture, featuring Gothic-style churches ⛪️, the Romanesque Xikai Church ⛪️, classical revival French 🇫🇷 public buildings, and Western-style architecture that fills every corner of Tianjin. These buildings also hide many legendary stories. When you walk into them, you can't help but marvel at this city full of history and stories 🏙.
Recommended Historical Buildings:
The Astor Hotel: Built in 1863 by British 🇬🇧 pastor John Innocent, it was named after the teachings of Mencius, meaning 'benefit and virtue'. This time, stepping into it is to explore an old elevator, the first generation elevator installed by the Otis company, which still operates normally today. It can be called the oldest existing elevator in China, having witnessed many years of hardship and still standing by the Haihe River with many stories of celebrities and dignitaries.
Binjiang Dao Pedestrian Street: Centered around the Quanye Bazaar, this pedestrian street still maintains the local commercial atmosphere. Although it is currently closed for renovation, it is a mirror witnessing the history of Tianjin's commerce.
Italian Style Street: Located in the city center, it was once the only Italian concession beside the Haihe River. Walking through it feels like being in a European town. The first thing that catches your eye is the tall clock tower, followed by the hollow bronze carriage, red-roofed Italian buildings, and European sculptures. After restoration, it has become a street for food and cultural leisure, especially lively in the evening when the lights come on, with Western restaurants and cafes ☕️ flickering with lights and live singers performing. There is also a museum introducing the history of Tianjin and future urban planning.
Other attractions include Xiaobailou, Tianjin Eye, Liberation Bridge, Wudadao, Porcelain House, Century Clock, Tianjin Museum, etc.
Food Recommendations:
Goubuli Baozi, Erduoyan Fried Cake, Mahua, Jianbing Guozi, Guoba Cai, Sugar-roasted Chestnuts, Eight Big Bowls, etc.
Southwest Corner Snack Street: A food street full of local flavor and a gathering place for halal snacks. From breakfast to late-night snacks, it is always bustling with tourists, especially with very affordable prices. It features Hai Ji Lao Wei Juan Quan, Long Yue Zhai Zhang Ji Fried Cake, San Xing Zhai Jianbing Guozi, Guoba Cai, and Wang Sangu Beef Pie, etc.
Nanshi Food Street: Also a renowned food street, mainly operating local snacks and specialties. Over time, it has completed its mission and is currently closed for renovation.
Listen. Jiao'er Xiangsheng Teahouse (Binjiang Dao Branch): When you are tired from touring, go to this Xiangsheng teahouse to listen to cross talk and drink tea. The atmosphere is superb, with continuous laughter and applause washing away fatigue.
Two days in Tianjin passed in an instant. Walking along the Haihe River, seeing the dazzling lights and the blend of international architecture, it felt like being in Europe in the blink of an eye...

Tianjin Haihe Night Cruise~ A Dazzling Visual Feast
Tianjin Haihe Night Cruise: A Dazzling Visual Feast
As night falls and the lights come on, the banks of Tianjin's Haihe River seem to be enchanted, becoming dazzlingly beautiful. Choosing a night cruise ticket is undoubtedly the best way to explore the charm of this city. As the cruise ship moves slowly, every step is a captivating painting that leaves one mesmerized.
As the ship sails on the water, the scenery on both sides unfolds like scenes from a movie. The lights of skyscrapers and the outlines of ancient buildings complement each other, perfectly blending modernity and classicism at this moment. The dazzling lights not only illuminate the city's night sky but also light up the hearts of the tourists. The Haihe River, the mother river that runs through Tianjin, is even more charming at night.
Speaking of this trip to Tianjin, as someone who has lived in Beijing for many years, I have to marvel at the unique charm of this city. Although it is a northern metropolis like Beijing, Tianjin exhibits a different kind of charm. The cityscape is clean and tidy, the architectural style is modern and stylish, yet it does not lose its romantic quality. Walking through the streets, the numerous university campuses and vibrant young people everywhere make one feel the youth and vitality of this city.
However, there are subtle differences between Tianjin and Beijing. Perhaps because the atmosphere of daily life is stronger, people here seem more relaxed and leisurely, lacking the fast pace and tension of Beijing. This difference makes Tianjin stand out among northern cities, becoming a city where people are willing to slow down and savor every moment.
Against the backdrop of Beijing-Tianjin integration, the connection between the two cities is becoming increasingly close. But it is precisely this close connection that allows Tianjin to maintain its own characteristics while absorbing advanced elements from Beijing, constantly rejuvenating with new vitality.
In short, the Tianjin Haihe night cruise is not only a visual feast but also a spiritual cleansing. It made me rediscover this beautiful city and look forward to every future encounter with it even more.

A Day by the Haihe River, A Serene Escape in the Heart of Tianjin
My recent visit to Tianjin wouldn't have been complete without spending a day along the picturesque Haihe River. This river is not just a waterway but the lifeblood of the city, intertwining modern marvels with historical charm.

As the day progressed, I explored the various historical sites along the river. The European-style buildings in the Italian Style Town were fascinating, offering a glimpse into Tianjin's rich colonial past. Walking through this area felt like stepping back in time, with each building narrating a unique story.

If you wish to had an amazing and romantic getaway while visiting Tianjin, I recommend you to come here. The name of this attraction is Haihe River, and also the bridge. This spot is very close to the Clock Century of Tianjin. So, you can visit these places at the same time. There are many pretty flowers too blooming here. You can enjoy the night river view, listen to buskers' singing, as well as cruise sailing (if you want to experience this, it's available too!). Around this area there are many food stalls and restaurants. So, don't worry! You won't be hungry. Recommended time to spend: at least 1.5 hours. Come after 6 PM is better!

From Liberation Bridge to Lion Forest Bridge, the flashback of childhood memories in real walk!
The Haihe River, the mother river of Tianjin.
The line from Liberation Bridge to Lion Forest Bridge was once the place to linger and stop forty years ago.
On the fourth day of the first month of the year of Jia Chen, I revisited along the river. After the beginning of spring, the river surface is no longer stubborn, the river water surges between some ice surfaces, and the water under the bridge is completely melted, reflecting the beautiful bridge and tall buildings.
Liberation Bridge, Jintang Bridge, North Peace Bridge, Lion Forest Bridge, the old look is still there. It's a pity that the Diamond Bridge, although the new bridge is strong, it lacks the thickness of accumulation.
Looking back at the Haihe Square, Square Bridge, and East Floating Bridge of that year, they have been obliterated in the long river of history.
Yifeng Street, Ancient Culture Street, Old City, crowded. It's better to walk along the river and search for childhood memories in leisure.
The hundred-year-old Industrial Exhibition Hall shows the history of Tianjin. At that time, Tianjin could be called 'Great Tianjin'.

Old travel photos of Tianjin, a city I fell in love with at first sight
Tianjin / 2012.12
.
In a city that you will fall in love with at first sight
Tianjin must have a name
.
I still remember clearly
When I came out of Tianjin Station early in the morning
The Haihe River under the morning light was sparkling
Shining like broken diamonds
.
There are many different types of bridges on the Haihe River, whether you are on the bridge or under the bridge, it is very pleasing to the eye.
.
A few of my favorite check-in spots
.
🔵Wudadao
Wudadao refers to the area south of Chengdu Road, north of Machang Road, east of Xikang Road, and west of the intersection of Machang Road and Nanjing Road. The buildings in Wudadao include Gothic, Baroque, Roman, Byzantine, and other styles, gathering buildings from the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and other countries, and can be called a 'World Architecture Museum'.
.
🔵Xikai Church
Xikai Church is the largest Roman-style building in Tianjin, with a very delicate exterior and interior. We happened to be in Tianjin during Christmas, so on Christmas Eve we received cookies from the church outside, which felt very surprising and lucky.
.
🔵China House
China House is a French-style mansion built with ancient porcelain, very delicate and distinctive.
.
🔵Italian Style Street
Italian Style Street is a square area formed by Wujing Road, Boai Road, Shengli Road, and Jianguo Road, with more than 100 well-preserved European buildings with a history of 100 years. The commercial development is also very complete, it's nice to stroll around and take pictures here.
.
🔵Ancient Culture Street
Ancient Culture Street is a concentration of old Tianjin shops and folk handicraft shops, with an antique and strong national style.
.
🔵Quanyechang
Quanyechang was once the largest shopping mall in Tianjin, and was known as: the city within the city, the market within the market, it can be said that the prosperity of Tianjin's modern layout started from 'Quanyechang'.
.
Also, don't forget to visit the Tianjin Eye, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Tianjin by riding the Ferris wheel.
.
There are also higher education institutions such as Nankai University and Tianjin University, but it may not be convenient to visit now, you can see if you can make an appointment to go in.

How to enjoy two days in Tianjin without getting tired?
Tianjin's core attractions: You think the city is huge, but the distance between most core attractions is mostly 2.3km.
Children can't ride bikes on the road, this distance on foot, wastes the child, and is equivalent to wasting the mother.
I checked a lot of strategies, all of them were just touching on the surface, and in the end I didn't get it, how to solve the transportation problem with children.
Self-driving, let's make good use of the car.
The following is a strategy that is both exercise, not tired, not stuck in traffic and free, personally tested, effective, just for you.
Stay: Near Xiaobailou. Quanji Hotel, a reliable chain, smart home with intention, reasonable room layout.
Attractions:
Day 1: Xiaobailou Hotel—Leg—Wudadao——Horse-drawn tour—(Leg)—Café—(Leg)—Hotel—(Drive)—Lujiazui Qianxiangyi—Drive tour: Tianjin Eye, Haihe, Bei'an Bridge, Hotel
1. Walk from the hotel to Minyuan Square on Wudadao 1.5km+. Horse-drawn carriage for 20 minutes around the starting point. 80 yuan per person, same charge for children over height. There is explanation on the way, and horse "fragrance". Children like it.
2. Nearby coffee. Quiet, inclusive. Adults and children charge their phones at the same time. Walk back to the hotel 1.5km+
3. Qianxiangyi Crosstalk. The tables in the 1st and 2nd rows are all priced at 180, and you can even see the sweat beads on the actor's face. The location is particularly suitable for children who are willing to take over and raise their hands to answer questions. Went to the Lujiazui branch, on the 5th floor of Lujiazui Square, inside a shopping mall. Good parking, catering available. One-stop service.
4. Drive to tour Haihe at night, watch Tianjin Eye, brilliant Haihe, Iron Bridges, building advertisements and other Spring Festival night scenes. The landscape lights are good, worth stopping to admire. (Tianjin seems to not ban firecrackers, there are flowers by the river)
Day 2: Hotel—(Drive)—Tianhe City Shopping Center (Parking)—(Leg)—Porcelain House—(Leg)—Century Clock—(Leg)—Tianhe City Shopping Center—(Drive)—Isetan (Parking, Lunch)——Xikai Church
1. Porcelain House. Adults 50 yuan, 120-150cm 30 yuan.
The road and the driveway at the door are too narrow, not only traffic jams, but also people jams!
On the second day of the lunar new year, there are many people at the attractions, but at least they can move around and touch the attractions for photos. About 40 minutes, walk around and think.
As for the viewing, how to say: the original intention is not easy, the courage and perseverance are admirable! Artistry——Hey, all kinds of works have to be seen, no regrets.
2. Century Clock. Built in the millennium, hence the name. Looking from the south bank of the river, the unexpected joy is hearing the hourly chime of "The East is Red", and the 12 chimes. It feels longer than the interval at Beijing Station.
3. Xikai Church. I made a half-day strategy and forgot to go. It seems that food can make people forget everything...the main business.
The various small western-style buildings between the attractions, showing off Tianjin's hundred years of glory, and the people's longing for a better life.
Overall strategy for self-driving in Tianjin: Drive between attractions with large spans. Park at the mall near the destination, go to the destination on foot, save the trouble of traffic jams. Tianjin·China

Where to go in Beijing and Tianjin|1.5h to see the Yardang landform in Tianjin
Today, I came to the new popular tourist spot in Jizhou District, Tianjin, which is known as the Yardang landform in the northwest. It really has the familiar feeling of the Yardang landform in the northwest, and the feeling of being in the Devil's City.
The predecessor of the Devil's City in Jizhou District was a mining site. After the mining stopped, the strange-shaped stones and deep pits left by the excavation were preserved. They were gradually developed by knowledgeable people and turned into a new place for tourists to check in. The scale is not large, but it is fresh, and such places are rare.
Tips
It is suitable for friends who are not particularly far from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei to drive for fun and check in. Since the attractions are relatively single, the play time is not particularly long, it is recommended for friends who come to Jizhou to play along the way.
2 This place is about 8KM away from the 5A scenic spot Panshan Scenic Area in Jizhou District, about 5KM away from Panshan Ski Resort, and not far away, you can play together.
There are many farmhouses nearby, and those who come to relax can consider here. It is not far from the University Town of Jizhou District. There is a snack street next to the University Town. The stinky tofu sold by the old lady at the entrance is absolutely amazing, the best I have ever eaten.

The most beautiful sight in Tianjin in March is the begonias on the Five Avenues
The most beautiful sight in Tianjin in March is the begonias on the Five Avenues (with route)
The begonias on the Five Avenues are in full bloom this week. Currently, Dali Avenue is fully blooming, and this weekend will be the best viewing period. At the same time, after 3 years, the Begonia Festival on the Five Avenues returns this Friday. For the first time, night viewing of begonias is launched. At the same time, an immersive light and shadow show will be staged in Minyuan Square, and a flower parade will be held in the bustling area of the Five Avenues.
Walk or ride a bike from Xiaobailou Station to Dali Avenue, go straight from east to west, the whole Dali Avenue is full of begonias. At present, the west side of Minyuan Square is better than the east side. During the Begonia Festival, traffic is restricted on Dali Avenue, so it is recommended to take public transportation. For details, see P18.

Tianjin does not raise a 'idle bridge'!
Since this year, Tianjin's culture and tourism have been frequently out of the circle, and checking in Tianjin's bridges has also become fashionable!
'A strip of Haihe scenic belt, half of China's modern history'
If the Haihe scenic line is a grand and beautiful movement, then the bridges standing on the Haihe are the notes of the climax of this movement🎵
Recommended check-in👇
🍁Liberation Bridge
Built in 1902, it has a history of more than a hundred years and is one of the most expensive bridges in modern Chinese history. The Liberation Bridge is a double-leaf vertical rotating opening bridge, which can generate electricity by itself. 'Ships from all countries pass under the bridge' was a classic scene on the Haihe River in those years.
🍁Daguangming Bridge
The Daguangming Bridge, which was built in 1983, is named after the Daguangming Cinema next to it. The new Daguangming Bridge is decorated with the theme of 'light'. The four European-style bridgeheads are installed with sculptures with the theme of sun, moon, stars, and stars, symbolizing noble and brilliant gold. The main color tone has become a beautiful and colorful classical European-style bridge.
🍁Beian Bridge
Beian Bridge uses Qinglong, Baihu, Suzaku, and Xuanwu, implying peace in all directions of the southeast, northwest, and northwest. The Beian Bridge at night exudes the romance of French style, and it is also a holy place for many tourists to take pictures and check in!
🍁Yongle Bridge
Yongle Bridge, formerly known as Ciha Bridge, is located at the mouth of the Sanjia River in Tianjin, spanning the Ziya River, connecting Wuma Road in Hebei District and Santiaoshi Horizontal Street in Hongqiao District. Maybe you are unfamiliar with this bridge, but you must know the 'Eye of Tianjin' on this bridge. This huge Ferris wheel and the bridge together achieve a unique 'wheel-bridge integration' style, and it is also one of the well-known landmark buildings in Tianjin.
🍁Shizilin Bridge
The Shizilin Bridge has been repaired twice and built the shapes of 'Nezha making trouble in the sea' and 'Two dragons playing with beads'. The most eye-catching on the bridge is the lion relief at the bridge pier. Whether driving from both sides of the Haihe River or by boat, you can see thousands of small lions on the Shizilin Bridge.

Tianjin Riverside City walk, a unique sense of relaxation at sunset
🚶Mainly for a holiday, go wherever you want, wander aimlessly in the city, without climbing mountains, without seeing the sea, simply follow the Haihe River in Tianjin, feel the unique architecture along the river, and the unique relaxation at sunset, which is too much release.

Haihe River Tourism Boat Tour
Thanks to some great reviews on trip.com I knew that this sight had to be on my itinerary. I must say I wasnt disappointed. I was more fascinated about seeing the lights so I did the night tour. It lasted for about 45 mins and the cost was fairly affordable(80 yuan). The ride gives you the option of sitting in a cosy, fancy sofa setting or standing out on the deck of the boat and just take it all in. It's a great way to get a great view of the neighboring environment.
One of the most intriguing part of the boat your was being able to see the different bridges and examining the aesthetics of each.
One can easily get to the location by taxi. It's in close proximity to many shops, restaurants and pubs. It is a great spot for taking awesome pictures, especially with the view of the Eye of Tianjin in the background.
