Never blindly follow the trend to Jeju Island, I'm afraid you'll fall in love with this place!
In this sun-kissed summer, let us embark on a journey together to the gem lost on the north coast of Jeju Island—the Hamdeok Seoubong Beach. Here, nature and tranquility blend perfectly, it's an ideal place away from the hustle and bustle, embracing the azure sea and sky. Get ready, let your soul set off on this blue adventure ahead of time with this curated travel note.
Attraction Introduction: The Whisper of Paradise Corner
Hamdeok Seoubong Beach, a place with a hint of saltiness in its name, is famous for its crystal-clear water and silky sands. Unlike other bustling beaches, Hamdeok retains a rare tranquility and simplicity. Standing on the shore, you are faced with the boundless blue waves, with lush pine forests behind you, and every breath seems to be filled with negative ions, cleansing the dust of the city. Even more surprising, during specific seasons of the year, you can encounter the dreamlike 'blue tears' (bioluminescent plankton) here, with the sea surface twinkling with blue lights, as if stepping into a fairy tale world.
Itinerary: Two Days and One Night, Enjoying the Slow Life
Day 1: Exploration and Relaxation
• Morning: Depart from Jeju City, take a bus (or rent a car) to Hamdeok, admiring Jeju's pastoral scenery along the way. Upon arrival, take a stroll by the sea and feel the gentle sea breeze.
• Noon: Taste a seafood feast at a local specialty restaurant, especially the freshly caught black pork barbecue, paired with seaweed soup, satisfying your taste buds while replenishing energy.
• Afternoon: Enjoy sunbathing at Hamdeok Seoubong Beach, or rent diving equipment by the sea to explore the mysteries of the underwater world. Don't forget to bring a snorkeling mask to closely observe the colorful coral reefs.
• Evening: Walk along the beach to the nearby Hamdeok-ri Coffee Street, choose a cafe by the sea, enjoy a cup of aromatic coffee, and watch the sunset, a sight too beautiful for words.
Day 2: Delve into Nature, Experience Culture
• Morning: Join a local ecological tour, enter the nearby ecological park to learn about Jeju's unique ecosystem, and you might even encounter wild deer.
• Noon: Return to Hamdeok village and enjoy a delicious abalone porridge, a local delicacy not to be missed.
• Afternoon: Visit the nearby Jeju Stone Culture Park, experience making Jeju's unique volcanic stone dolls by hand, and take this unique memory home.
• Return: End the fulfilling journey, return to Jeju City with a heart full of memories.
Transportation Tips: Easy Arrival, Worry-Free Travel
• Public Transportation: Take a city bus from Jeju City to Hamdeok, the journey takes about 1 hour, with frequent services, an economical choice.
• Renting a Car: Recommended for travelers seeking freedom and convenience, Jeju Island has excellent car rental services, you can rent a car from the airport and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way, with an excellent driving experience.
• Taxi: Suitable for small group travel, take a taxi directly from the center of Jeju City to Hamdeok Seoubong Beach, although more expensive, it's faster and more comfortable.
Tips: Creating the Perfect Journey
• Remember to bring sunscreen, swimsuits, beach towels, and mosquito repellent, as sun protection and mosquito prevention are essential when playing by the sea in summer.
• Pay attention to safety when snorkeling, follow the maritime rules, and try to go with companions.
• When experiencing local cultural activities, respect local customs and communicate friendly.
Hamdeok Seoubong Beach is not just a beach, it is a journey, a mood, a wonderful experience of harmonious coexistence with nature. This summer, let us all indulge in this undisturbed blue dream together!

How to spend two days in Jeju Island, here comes the east-west line strategy
I was very lucky to have encountered the sunny days of Jeju Island, and also saw the misty black sand beach on a rainy day, which made the trip worthwhile.
How to play with only two days after returning from Jeju Island? Let the time management master tell you.
Day 1: Shopping + West Line Yemonth Village
It is recommended to stay near Shilla or Lotte Duty Free Shop for convenient shopping, and it's only 2 kilometers to the airport.
The shopping places are all within a one-kilometer walking distance, Shilla + Lotte Duty Free Shop + Baojian Road. Remember to contact the tour guide before going to the duty-free shop to start a group for a rebate, get a gold card discount at the first-floor service desk, and the duty-free shop is open from 10 am to 6 pm.
In the afternoon, take the 202 bus from near Lotte Duty Free Shop to Yemonth Village, it's a direct one-hour trip which is very convenient. Bus stops: Jicheng Village - Hantan Cave (do not trust Google Maps to get off at Yemonth Village station, you would have to walk three or four stops)
I personally think that for the west line, you can choose some attractions and take the bus there, there's no need to charter a car unless your itinerary is really packed.
Day 2: East Line Carpool Day Tour
We placed an order on Fei, chose the Niu Island C line (Niu Island, Xiantian Beach, Seopjikoji, Seongsan Ilchulbong) and were quite satisfied with it, the timing was right and we went to basically all the attractions we wanted to see.
Those with flights after 9:30 pm can arrange for an east line chartered tour, returning to the city around 6 or 7 pm.
You must charter a car for the east line to save time and effort, as the distances are too far.

Jeju Island must-visit spots
I've been to Jeju Island twice! I really never get tired of it, the jelly sea is so beautiful.
These four seaside spots are mentioned in all the guides!
I've organized a comparison and guide for these four places, which you can refer to️
P1 Hyeopjae Beach
P2 Woljeongri
P3 Udo
P4 Aewol-eup
My personal ranking of love for the seaside: Hyeopjae Beach > Woljeongri > Udo = Aewol-eup
-Regarding transportation, except for Aewol-eup, the four places are in the opposite direction, and the other places starting from the city are all in one direction. Hyeopjae is the closest, Udo is the farthest
You can take a bus to get there. (Please refer to the previous separate bus guide for Jeju Island, which is very detailed). To get to Udo, you need to take a bus to the port, then a ferry. You need to bring your passport to buy a ticket
-About Seaview 1: Hyeopjae Beach
I didn't expect much, but I finally went to my favorite seaside! I don't go to other beaches, but I must go here, I think it's also the beach most frequented by locals
The water is very clear and the sand is clean Many people wear swimsuits to sunbathe and swim in the sea.
Especially at sunset, the setting sun on the sea is really beautiful!
There is also a big coffee shop by the beach, very suitable for watching the sea view and sunset
And it feels like the development here is very complete Restaurants and coffee shops for shopping are all very comprehensive Public buses are also very convenient
2: Woljeongri
About 20 minutes' drive from Hyeopjae, you can go together
There are fewer tourists here than at Hyeopjae, it has a quiet amidst the hustle and bustle feel
The sea is also very clear and beautiful
The hot mongle cloud cookie store is right here
There are also many seaside coffee shops, any one you enter is good
3: Udo is quite far If you go, it's best to set aside a day
Transportation on the island includes electric bikes and a round-the-island bus
I personally prefer the round-the-island bus, it's cost-effective and saves energy. One ticket can get on and off at all platforms on the island, every 20 minutes. If you've had enough fun in one place, you can wait for the bus to go to the next stop.
The very popular blanc now Rocher coffee shop on the island is very crowded but the scenery is great
If there's no seat, you might want to try the next-door place.u.do
The second floor facing the sea is also very nice
4: Aewol-eup
Personally, I feel it's similar to Woljeongri and Hyeopjae, all beautiful jelly seas
If you don't have enough time, because Aewol is in the opposite direction, you can choose other beaches
Noraba seafood noodles and slow boat coffee shop are my two favorite shops by that sea
If you go to these two shops, you can't miss them!
-The seaside of Jeju Island is really comfortable. Good weather is even more suitable for the jelly sea! Compared to commando-style tourism, it's more suitable for relaxing, quietly spending an afternoon by the sea~

Hamdeok Beach
Hamdeok beach is a northern Jeju Island beach and is truly beautiful. Built up with volcanic rock, the islands layout is unique. Walk out to the bridge which allows you to access the singular picnic bench overlooking the water.
The water and its various shades of blue is spectacular, the rocks stick out creating new shapes in the beach area.
Activities can be taken on here - such as kayaking, jet ski or paddle board as well as scuba diving.

Cocotero - Jeju Island
Located opposite Hamdeok Beach, there’s so many choices of Korean BBQ and other food. Mixed in you can find Cocotero, they have a small menu but the pizzas are huge! Definitely a meal you will have to share.
Prices here are a little higher than some of the chicken places - 29000won for the large pizza but you won’t need to buy more than one between two.
Drinks are standard - beers served cold and small other selection.
Ordering is completely tableside - the iPad screen attached to your table is the order.
Atmosphere - funky, could almost become a party.

Cooling down at Mango Ray
Address - Johamhaean-ro, Jochon-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
Ambiance/Facilities - Mango Ray had a fresh and tropical feel. The store had a colorful interior with very interesting decorations and lots of memorabilia from island destination around the world. Most of the decorations were made from coconut shells and were very intricate.
Highlights - The coconut ice cream was superb. It was 100 percent coconut. It was served in a coconut. The coconut flesh was scrapped off and could be enjoyed with every bite. Delicious!
Avg. Price per Person - 4000krw - 12000krw

Hamdeok Beach
Beautifully clear waters are abundant on Jeju Island. In the northeastern part of Jeju Island, you will find a beach with black volcanic rock skirting the edges of the water. They provide a sharp contrast in colour and texture to the blue waters that lie behind it. With small food shops close by, you'll be able to relax and take in the sun at this pleasant beach. Although during our visit, we found that there was a mesh material on the sand leading up to the water. Meaning no sand castles could be built unless you're up close to the water's edge.

Highlights - Delicious fresh seafood pastas and risottos. A very nice bruschetta.
Avg. Price per Person - 15 000krw to 30000krw per person.
Rating - 9/10
We really enjoyed our dinner in the sunset. The view, scenery and exemplary service made it a great end to our trip to Hamdeok beach. Highly recommend.

Although it was windy evening I feel warm over there 👉
Mesmerizing views from the beach and the clean and tidy environment, it makes me amazed.I wish to stay longer in the beach but my hectic schedule was calling me at my end.

Nice looking beach and lovely water, but don’t recommend if you want to swim. Lifeguards are over authoritarian and you’re only allowed in a 10x10 square with many other people (who have inflatables)! We had a pretty bad experience here where the lifeguards seemed to be picking on us for no reason. Also not allowed to sit/walk on certain parts of the beach. Overall poor experience only saved but spotted an octopus!

7 experiences you must not miss when taking your baby to Jeju Island for the first time.
🏝️Jeju Island can be the kind of travel destination that can be easily visited. If you are bringing a baby, you must not miss it:
1️⃣Let the jelly sea surround you (Hamdeok Bathhouse)
🌊When the tide recedes in the early morning, a white sandy beach will be revealed not far from the shore. Walk through the emerald green seaweed and walk there, and the entire jelly sea will surround you.
🌆At the beach in the evening, accompanied by the singing of street performers, the busy hermit crabs also quieted down. Opposite the bathhouse is the Olive Young duty-free store, where you can play in the sand or go shopping without delay.
2️⃣Drive the car onto the ship (Ushijima)
What's so surprising about this? But for babies, it’s a fun thing
3️⃣Go and see the real crater (Ushido)
When you arrive at Niudao, you must climb to the top of Niutufeng, where you can see the entire 🌋 crater of Sunrise Peak opposite.
4️⃣Go to the cliff to see the beautiful glass house (Seopjikoji)
"Seopji" is the ancient name of this area, and "Koji" is the dialect of Jeju Island, which means the protruding terrain. There is a wide grassland on the coastal cliff where Seopji Koji is located. Not a single tree can be seen here. There is a rock called Senshi standing on the coast. On the top of the mountain, there is a concrete glass building designed by the "God of Design" Tadao Ando. RoomGlasshouse
5️⃣Look for the footprints of haenyeo (CAFE PEOPLE)
🐚No matter how beautiful the scenery is, nothing is as beautiful as these old aunts. They are all over 60 years old. They go out to sea to fish at dawn, dive into the sea without oxygen equipment, and catch conches, abalone and other seafood with their bare hands.
🐚"I can make money and I have freedom. No matter where I go, I proudly tell people that I am a haenyeo." Here is a line from the movie that has always impressed me
6️⃣Take a bus on Jeju Island (Puppy Cafe)
🚌The bus system on the island is very developed. Download kakaoMap to check bus routes, arrival times, etc. The system is in Korean and needs to be used with Google. Design a route that is not too far away with your baby, and then stare at the stop sign with your eyes wide open. This is a particularly interesting experience.
🚍The half-hour drive from Hamdeok Bathhouse to the Puppy Cafe will not make the baby irritable, but also gives him a sense of participation and responsibility. The final reward is the cute puppy cake
7️⃣Step on the volcanic rocks (CAFE PEOPLE or puppy cafe)
[Tiptop] There are so many things to do in Jeju Island. Just pick one place. This is different from the feeling of stepping on rocks.
🙅♀️Jeju Island is not suitable for special forces-style experiences with babies. The driving time between scenic spots is more than 1 hour, and the bus is more than 2 hours. Children will be tired and reduce the fun of the trip.
✅If the mother is traveling alone with her baby and cannot rent a car, slowing down will also give her baby an unforgettable family trip to Jeju Island

A Great Spot for a Picnic While Watching the Sunset
Hamdeok Beach is one of the popular tourist destinations in Jeju Island, bustling with people both day and night. While most people enjoy the sandy beach right in front of the beach, if you head towards the path to Seoubong, you'll find palm trees and a grassy area perfect for a picnic.
It's an ideal spot to have a picnic while watching the sky and sea turn red during sunset, so make sure to visit if you're in Jeju Island!

It is said that locals come here...
In fact, except for us, everyone else is...
On the inconspicuous second floor, fortunately, I still saw it with my sharp eyes👀...
Outside the window🪟 is a whole piece of jelly sea🌊
Abalone porridge
Come and have a bowl of warm fufu in the morning, and it's abalone, a bit extravagant🤣
The soft porridge base, topped with fresh abalone, although not much haha
Seafood cold noodles🍜
Oh, this cold noodle is also exaggerated...
The seafood is extremely rich, abalone, shrimp🦐, squid🦑, sea urchin...
The cold noodles are also two colors!

Jeju Island - Great for FRESH Seafood!
It was my fifth time to Jeju Island this June and of course I took the opportunity to eat all the fresh seafood I could 😂 I mostly stayed at the beautiful Hamdeok beach again and ate all the things I loved - abalone noodle soup, the Korean style mackerel and sea bass sashimi ‘hweh’ and of course, my favourite sea urchin rice bowl.
Watching the gorgeous sun set against the backdrop of the beach after a wonderful meal is the icing on top of the cake!

The mountain and sea boardwalk is like the end of the world, a romantic movie scene. It is recommended to go early to catch the sunrise (no ticket required🎫).

Locate "mou moon coffee", a popular coffee shop. The second floor offers a sea view. The beach has a fairy tale feel, with white sand, jelly sea, and wind turbines. Just enjoying the sea breeze is delightful.
🔆Seopjikoji
Sea cliff scenery, black reefs, green grass, a perfect place to spend an afternoon. The island also has a landmark building designed by Tadao Ando, which looks like a Korean drama in every shot.
🔆Aewol-eup
Find Bomnal coffee, wait for the sunset on its terrace, and enjoy the beautiful evening glow if the weather is good.
🔆Dodu-dong Rainbow Road
A colorful road along the coast, with a cute bus stop, perfect for photos with an anime feel. It is recommended to come in the morning for better lighting.
🔆mou moon coffee
Two-story floor-to-ceiling windows frame the jelly sea, offering an amazing view. Try the bread in the store, it's delicious.
🔆Lazy pump
A seaside industrial-style coffee shop with great window views, an abandoned piano, and a gloomy atmosphere.
🔆slowboat
A store with a high aesthetic, wooden furniture, art magazines, good music, and special window views.
Tips1:
It is recommended to come in good weather. Although cloudy days are also nice, sunny days are unbeatable.
Tips2:
The wind is strong by the sea, so it is recommended to bring a hat to fix your hairstyle and a windproof jacket to keep warm.
Tips3:
There are many people from the northeast here, so even if your English is not good, communication is not a problem.
Tips4:
Jeju Island's attractions are scattered, so it is highly recommended to hire a car for a more in-depth and hassle-free tour.
