I recently visited Macao and thought I would share my experience
Day 1 - the airport the is very close to the hotels making it easy to get a taxi there. All of the hotels have shopping malls and other amenities there so we stayed inside and went to the cinema!
Day 2 - we visited the ancient ruins of St Paul’s cathedral and the historic centre of Macao. It is very easy to navigate and people speak English, Portuguese and Mandarin making it very visitor friendly. In the evening, we visited the casino strip that has famous hotels such as The Venetian.
Day 3 - we headed down to Blaksands beach and tried some local Portuguese food which was fantastic.
Overall, it is a very easy place to navigate and there are lots of different hotels ranging from 5 star hotels to hostels. There are also different food options that incorporate the history of Macao and there is also great shopping opportunities there too

🚩A-Ma Temple → Yapojingqian → Zheng Family House → St. Lawrence Church → St. Joseph’s Seminary Building → Kanggong Temple → October 5th Street → Nezha Temple → Ruins of St. Paul’s
🌸The self-driving mileage is about 10 kilometers. The recommended tour time is 1 day, which is suitable for history and culture lovers.
💖Overview of attractions
✔️A-Ma Temple: In the early days, it was called Niangma Temple, Tianfei Temple or Haijue Temple. Later it was named "Mazu Pavilion". It is commonly known as "A-Ma Temple" by the Chinese. It is the oldest temple in Macau that has physical evidence. It is the longest-preserved Central Plains building in Macao and was once named one of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Macao". The temple includes the "No. 1 Hall of the Holy Mountain", Zhengjue Zen Forest, Hongren Hall, Guanyin Pavilion and other buildings.
✔️San Lorenzo Church: Founded in the mid-16th century, it is one of the three ancient churches in Macau. Its current size was formed in 1846. The Chinese call it "Feng Shun Tang", which means praying for "good weather". The area where the church is located used to be a noble residential area, so the church building is also beautiful. Its appearance is based on European classical style with a Baroque style.
✔️Kanggong Temple: Kanggong Temple is located in the middle of October 5th Street and has a history of more than 200 years. The main hall of the temple is dedicated to the true king of Kanggong, Li Lie, the commander of the Han Dynasty. He served in protecting the country and was named Kanggong. In the past, the temple was close to the sea. According to legend, a wooden statue of King Kang floated there, so residents built a temple to worship it. Later, the temple was built in the 10th year of Xianfeng (1860). The temple enshrines gods and Buddhas such as Kang Gongzhenjun, Nanhai Guangli Hongsheng King, Xishan Jinshenghou King, the Sixth Patriarch and Hua Tuo.
✔️October 5th Street: October 5th Street is a famous old street in Macau. The street was named to commemorate the Portuguese revolution on October 5, 1910, which overthrew the monarchy and established the republic. To commemorate this event, the Macao-Portuguese government changed the name of Sikou Meng Street to October 5th Street. This area has a strong nostalgic atmosphere, and there are many shops and gourmet restaurants worth visiting.

Macao, a lucrative port of strategic importance in the development of international trade, was under Portuguese administration from the mid-16th century until 1999, when it came under Chinese sovereignty. With its historic street, residential, religious and public Portuguese and Chinese buildings, the historic centre of Macao provides a unique testimony to the meeting of aesthetic, cultural, architectural and technological influences from East and West. The site also contains a fortress and a lighthouse, the oldest in China. It bears witness to one of the earliest and longest-lasting encounters between China and the West, based on the vibrancy of international trade.

Today's crazy walking route includes many churches.
Rose Hall ➡️ Mercy Hall ➡️ Municipal Office ➡️ St. Joseph's Monastery and Cathedral ➡️ Gongding Square ➡️ St. Augustine's Church ➡️ St. Lorenzo Church
•
Measure Macau with your footsteps, even if your legs and waist are tired, you still enjoy it. The temperature of 20℃ is just right, the sunshine is bright, and the old city is romantic. The next second, put on sunglasses and continue to walk around.~
•
🔸Rose Hall Rose Hall
A Baroque-style church with yellow, white, and green colors, dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. After seeing so many European churches, the churches in Macau may seem simpler, but they are still quite elegant.
🔸Ren Ci Hall Ren Ci Hall Building
The Mercy Hall is a charity organization in Macau, built in the mid-18th century with a neoclassical architectural style. Its exterior is in white tones, and of all the buildings I've seen, I like the Mercy Hall the most.
🔸City Hall Council Chamber Library
The Municipal Affairs Bureau is located right across from the square, serving as the office for civil and municipal affairs.
🔸Gangding Theater Gangding Theater
From a small hill, you can see a tender green western-style theater. When I went there that day, I found out it was closed on Tuesdays. Unfortunately, I couldn't go inside, so I just took some photos outside.
🔸St. Joseph's Monastery and Church, and the St. Joseph's Monastery Treasure Museum
At the very end of the front square is this monastery, next to which there is a beautiful garden library building.
🔸St. Augustine's Church, St. Augustine's Church
Opposite the Gangding Theater is the St. Augustine Church, a church built by Spaniards in southern European style with light yellow walls and green doors and windows. It's very cool inside when you step in.
🔸St. Lorenz Church, St. Lorenz Church
The St. Lawrence Church is the most beautiful, with many chandeliers and stained glass windows. The church faces the bay along a short alley. After visiting the church, you can take a walk by the seaside, where you can see the Grand Lisboa Hotel and the Macau Tower.

Wandering around the old town in Macau.
Macau was leased to the Portuguese for management and operation during the Ming Dynasty, and has since been transformed into an open international port city with a blend of Chinese and Portuguese cultures. The old town of Macau still retains many historical sites, and the old streets and alleys of the old town have a unique charm.
Tip:
The old town has few people and few cars, making it very suitable for roaming. You can also eat Portuguese egg tarts and pork chop rice, which is very comfortable.
🚇About transportation:
The only downside is that public transportation in Macau is not very convenient, and you need to arrange your own transportation in advance.
🏠About accommodation:
The room rates of Macau hotels are indeed pitiful, and they are twice as expensive as those in neighboring Hong Kong. So many people would rather stay in Hong Kong for a day trip than stay in Macau.

Macau, a small city with a long history
Macau is very small, consisting of three islands: the Macau Peninsula, Taipa, and Coloane, but the 'Historic Centre of Macau' is listed in the 'World Heritage List'. The old city area of Macau has a 400-year history of Chinese and Western cultural integration. It is the oldest, largest, most well-preserved, and most concentrated historical city area in China, with Western-style buildings as the main feature, complemented by Chinese-style architecture. Every world cultural heritage site is open to all tourists for free, especially suitable for Citywalk. Let us calm down and measure Macau with our feet, get close to Macau, and appreciate the beauty of architecture and culture left by history. In the streets and alleys, you will meet the most authentic Macau.

Macau | Scenic Walk in the Old Town Area - Monte Fort Park
🚗 The Historic Centre of Macau, located on the Macau Peninsula of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, centers around the old city of Macau and connects more than 20 historical buildings. The area of the historic district extends from the Mount Fortress in the east to the Inner Harbour Pier near San Ma Lo in the west, from the A-Ma Temple in the south to the Camoes Park in the north. The construction of the various buildings in this architectural complex dates from the Ming Dynasty to the Republic of China, spanning over 400 years.
🚗 Take the light rail to the Barrier Gate Station 🚇 A-Ma Temple 🚶 A-Ma Temple 🚶 Macau Old Town (Ruins of St. Paul's, Macau Museum, Guia Lighthouse, Monte Fort Park, Senado Square). Alternatively, you can take bus 26 directly from The Londoner to the vicinity of the Ruins of St. Paul's.
🚗 I seem to remember seeing somewhere that it should be a World Cultural Heritage site, but to be honest, it didn't feel very impressive. The surrounding attractions are quite concentrated, but they are built on a hill, and some places require climbing stairs. It feels quite hot at noon, but there is also a large flow of people, and the weather does not seem to affect people's enthusiasm at all.
🚗 Many small shops in the surrounding streets are quite good, and some streets will be temporarily turned into pedestrian lanes. There's a lot of food, and most of it can be paid for with a mobile phone.

Special Forces: The Macau Trip
One must take a trip to Macau! Experience the intoxicating glitz and glamour
Ever since it opened up, a lot of people have been going to Macau for fun. It's essential to plan ahead to avoid unnecessary detours. After a day of walking around, your legs will really give out.
✅About Travel
There are several ways to get to Macau ⬇️
① Zhuhai ↔️ Macau, you can get directly to Macau after passing through Zhuhai. Very convenient for tourists from other places! Just fly to Zhuhai and you're all set~
② Shenzhen Wharf ↔️ Macau, the ferry ticket is 230 for half an hour.
③ Hong Kong Wharf ↔️ Macau, the ferry ticket is 150 for one hour.
I chose the third option for my Hong Kong-Macau trip, taking the ferry directly from Hong Kong to Macau and returning to Shenzhen in the evening.
Follow the signs to the immigration hall, scan the health declaration code for entry and exit at the public account 'Customs Passenger Fingertip Service'. After entering, you'll need to scan your fingerprints, Hong Kong-Macau pass, and ID card, and you'll get an entry slip.
✅Overseas Data
Buy an overseas data package in advance, no need for a SIM card, you can buy it directly with Alipay. Open Alipay ➡️ Overseas Internet ➡️ Enter the city or country you're exiting to, and purchase according to the number of days needed. Turn on data roaming when you arrive in Macau~
✅Exchanging Macau Currency
There's no subway in Macau! So you have to take the bus, 6 Macau dollars a trip. The 'Prosperity Bus' is free; most other payments can be made online! You don't need to exchange too much Macau currency, I only exchanged 100 yuan = 105 Macau dollars! There's a 5 yuan handling fee for amounts under 500 yuan, which is the same everywhere.
✅Tips
1️⃣Bring a power bank, there are power bank rentals in Macau but it's very troublesome, really hard to find
2️⃣Outfit recommendations ➡️ Definitely wear comfortable shoes, Macau and Hong Kong are very suitable for walking, and you'll definitely rack up tens of thousands of steps in a day. During the day, light-colored casual wear is also fine; in the evening, it's recommended to wear a light-colored dress, which stands out in night photos and fits the intoxicating glitz and glamour of Macau

Macau's Old Town: A blend of everyday life and dazzling extravagance
The 'Historic Centre of Macau' stretches from the Mount Fortress in the east to the Inner Harbour Ferry Terminal in the west, from the A-Ma Temple in the south to the Camoes Garden in the north. It encompasses over 20 historical buildings including the A-Ma Temple, the Maritime Administration Building, St. Dominic's Church, the Ruins of St. Paul's, and the Monte Fort, as well as seven closely connected public squares. The 'Historic Centre of Macau' preserves the essence of over four hundred years of cultural exchange between East and West. It is the oldest, largest, and most well-preserved and concentrated historic district in China, where Western-style buildings dominate, complemented by Chinese-style architecture.
The glittering luxury hotels are just a stone's throw away from the quaint, nostalgic streets and alleys. The bright colors of Western buildings paired with the classical grandeur of Chinese architecture do not clash, creating a harmonious blend. Macau offers an all-encompassing culinary culture, a relaxed and leisurely lifestyle, a shopping environment with a wide variety of goods and few people, and a deep historical heritage. Macau possesses an irreplaceable urban charm.

Coming to Macau is for this explosive crispy rice seafood porridge
It's near the Ruins of St. Paul's on New Road, a small shop
hiding great taste, it's a canteen for many locals, a good place for late night snacks
We were also brought here by friends, their seafood porridge is really amazing‼️
🦐Seafood porridge
The broth is made from fresh prawns every day, and there are also fresh prawn meat, scallops, clam meat, onion cubes, etc. When it is served, the pot is still hot. Sprinkle the fried rice while it is hot, and you will hear the crackling sound, multiple textures, rich soup base, it's really delicious‼️
🐔Signature Chicken Porridge
The soup base is made from Chinese cabbage soup, without adding other seasonings, the chicken is tender and juicy, and the porridge is delicate and dense
🍤Soy Sauce King Prawn
Their prawns are really big, the prawn head and body are separated but still a big one, especially fresh and tasty, the prawn head is even better than the prawn, each one is bursting with roe, the prawn body can be peeled and then dipped in sauce, even better
🧆French Fried Clams
The clam meat is especially large, very full, full of buttery aroma, without adding a drop of water
Their food is really delicious, it's worth coming back to Macau for this seafood porridge, other dishes are also full of sincerity, especially the seafood is very fresh, all are conscientious products👍🏻

Rampage in Macau | Time goes back 30 years from Senado Square to Rua do Felicidade.
Today's crazy walking route in Macau.
Senado Square ➡️ Love Lane ➡️ October 5th Street ➡️ Fulong New Street
🔸Ruins of St. Paul's
There are really a lot of people at Senado Square, with no big scenes, only casual tourist photos. The archway combines Chinese and Western styles. Looking up for a long time cured my cervical spondylosis. There are stone lions, Chinese characters, stars, sun, Virgin Mary, angels and Jesus on the archway, and there is also a skeleton frame, probably meaning the god of death, all related to navigation.
🔸Love Lane
Love Lane is located in the sloping alley below the Ruins of St. Paul's, expressing respect for religion and having nothing to do with love. It has a bit of a feeling of Lisbon's Alfama old town. There is a % coffee shop in the sloping alley, and at the entrance there is a Portuguese restaurant called Aogang Gallery.
🔸Street on the 5th day of October
The old-fashioned atmosphere of the city, the hustle and bustle of the old streets and alleys, and the time goes back thirty years. You can take retro cultural photos here. There are also some budget hotels and Portuguese restaurants here.
🔸Fulong New Street
A short alley with shops on both sides, each household has a incense burner blessed by the gods, and the houses are old colorful western-style buildings, like a retro scene in a movie. There is a postcard coffee shop where you can check in, and a Nanping Yaxu restaurant where you can have lunch and afternoon tea.

Macau Peninsula
The Macau Peninsula (Portuguese: Península de Macau) is one of the three parts that make up China's Macau. It is the main residential area for Macau residents and the earliest developed area in Macau, with a history of over 400 years. The Macau Historic Centre, located on the Macau Peninsula, was officially listed in the World Cultural Heritage List in 2005. The Macau Peninsula was originally an island, but later became a peninsula connected to the mainland due to the sediment brought by the upstream of the Xijiang River, forming a north-south sandbank.

When we talk about Macau, what do we first think of? It is the song "Do you know that MACAU is not my real name?", is it a colorful entertainment city, or a delicious Portuguese egg tart? Before I went to Macau, my impression of Macau was very shallow. When I went shopping in Macau for 3 days, I fell in love with the city. This is an inclusive city, a city that makes you feel comfortable. Whether it's a humane atmosphere or a variety of cuisines, people are lingering. "Friendly" is my deepest impression of the city.
When I walk on the street to see the road signs, the locals will take the initiative to ask if they need help, and will help me to guide me; when I need to change the money by bus, the convenience store's grandmother also I will smile and help me change the change; when we asked the hotel how to watch the fireworks show, the young man in the concierge quickly took out the map prepared by the hotel, used the pen to draw the position of the fireworks show, where is the best viewing angle, from the hotel A few cars can arrive... I received such active help during my trip. I was "flattered" at first, maybe I was passively solving problems in my previous trip, but this time there are so many local helpers in Macau. People, this makes me feel good about the city.
So, in the three days in Macau, we have always maintained a good mood, shopping and eating are all cheerful, and finally left when I left, I feel that I will come again later. This is probably the charm of Macau.
