Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum: The Pillar of a Nation
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi stands as a monumental tribute to the father of modern Vietnam. Dominating Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam's independence, this imposing granite structure is a fusion of architectural grandeur and historical reverence. The meticulously manicured gardens and soldier guards accentuate its solemn atmosphere. Inside, the embalmed remains of Uncle Ho, as he is affectionately known, lie in state, encapsulating a moment of eternal repose. Visitors line up, often in silence, to pay their respects, reflecting the profound impact of his leadership and vision on the nation. The surrounding grounds, adorned with various monuments and relics, offer a deeper dive into the leader's life and the pivotal moments of Vietnam's struggle for independence. The mausoleum is not just a building; it's a symbol of a nation's unwavering respect and gratitude for its founding leader. For those looking to grasp the soul of Vietnam and its journey, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum stands as an unmissable beacon of inspiration and reflection.

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a huge complex built in honor of Ho Chi Minh, the country’s former and revolutionary leader. His body is preserved in the mausoleum and protected by the guard. Apart from the mausoleum, you can also explore his private residence while he was serving the country which consists of his simple house, garden and pond. There is also the Vietnam War Memorial in the complex where you can learn about the brutal proxy war that went in the country for two decades until it gained independence. You will see old Soviet weapons and stories about the war here. It is a must visit for history buff like me.
Served as resting place for Uncle Ho
A visit to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi can serve as a way to understand Vietnam’s history, values and culture.
Ho Chi Minh is considered as the father of Vietnam and founder of the Communist Party. Walking around this area, you can explore beautiful landscape, layers of bamboo trees. Check out the flag ceremony timing if you wish to witness it.
No photos are allowed inside the Mausoleum. Visitors can just walk one round to “see” the well-reserved body of Uncle Ho. It should take less than 30 minutes inside here.
We prefer to spend time walking around the complex and explore surrounding buildings like Presidential Palace.

Impressions of Hanoi
Taking advantage of the 8-day National Day holiday in 2023, my friend and I planned to enter Vietnam from Hekou, Yunnan, and take a sleeper bus directly to Laojie from the Laojie port of entry for 4 hours. The day we arrived was our National Day, and many Vietnamese people were also gathered around Hoan Kiem Lake for activities, which was very lively.
🌟Highlights:
In the old town area around the lake, you can see them sitting on small chairs and tables, ordering some cold drinks or some food to gather together. The main feature is that those stools are very small, and it's very lively.
🍽Food Recommendations: When you're in Hanoi, you must try a bowl of beef noodles, which is especially delicious. Also recommended are grilled meat vermicelli, fried spring rolls, and egg coffee.
👍Most Recommended: The places to visit are all concentrated around the old town area, including Hoan Kiem Lake, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Thang Long Temple...
This impression, perhaps because of the holiday, made me feel that Hanoi's population is very large, the motorcycle army is particularly spectacular, and Hanoi's air pollution is still quite serious, with smog during this period. However, this city still has its connotations, and it is recommended to visit for two days.
Poignant Visit To A National Hero
The Ho Chi Minh mausoleum is a great place to visit for those interested in learning more about the former leader of Vietnam. The space is powerful and you also have the chance to walk around the gardens and visit the home where he resided for the later part of his life. Ensure you plan your visit wisely if you are hoping to pay your respects and go inside the tomb as it is closed on Mondays. #historicallandmarks

If you are in Hanoi don't miss this place
It was pretty amazing seeing Ho Chi Minh and his resting place. Don't you dare try to take a photo. Nice how it was free also. At the end we opted not to see the presidential palace, as you can't go in it, it's just a money grab in my opinion. Enjoy. #wintergetaway
