Hong Kong heritage museum
The Hong Kong heritage museum is walking distance from the Che Kung MTR station (just cross the bridge) and you cannot miss it.
The museum itself is larger than one might think from the outside, It's very roomy and comfortable inside.
The exhibits include art (Chinese and contemporary Hong Kong), one about "Femininity in ancient China" and one about Bruce Lee's films and life.
The "Alchemist Cafe" connected to the museum serves really good food. The mushroom pasta was fantastic as well as the hot chocolate and sweet potato fries being rich and tasty.
Definitely worth a day out.#foodie #hongkong #Hongkongmuseum

Awesome Museum
Hong Kong has no shortage of excellent museums, and this another. Located in Sha Tin, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum is an excellent way to learn the history of HK. What I like about this museum are the fantastic and often changing special exhibitions. I've seen Dunhuang, Ancient Egypt, Louvre and British Museum exhibitions.
There is a permanent Bruce Lee exhibition on the top floor (no photos allowed) and it covers his life and movies. The historical HK exhibitions are also worth checking out. There is a lot to see in the Sha Tin area and it's worth combining this with some other sights.
Highly recommended.

2024 Hong Kong Exhibition: The T. T. Tsui Gallery of Chinese Art.
On the second floor of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin, there is a "T. T. Tsui Gallery of Chinese Art." Although the exhibits are privately (foundation) donated, their exquisite level surpasses that of many provincial museums, covering pottery and porcelain from the pre-Qin, Han, and Ming and Qing dynasties. The variety of shapes and the excellent preservation of the artifacts opened my eyes as a frequent visitor to museums. Many of the shapes were seen for the first time, and it was indeed a worthwhile trip. Recently, there is also an exhibition of Buddhist artifacts, "Treasures of the Sacred and the Secular: The Tibetan Buddhist Art," featuring Tibetan Buddhist artifacts such as thangkas, Buddha statues, and ritual objects from the 17th to 20th centuries.
On the second floor of the museum, there is also a Bruce Lee exhibition, and on the first floor, there are exhibitions on "Hong Kong Pop 60+", Cantonese opera artifacts, intangible cultural heritage, and James Wong, which are very enlightening for understanding the development of Hong Kong culture.
The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is very convenient to reach, within a 10-minute walk from Che Kung Temple Station on the Tuen Ma Line or Sha Tin Station on the East Rail Line. Free admission, no reservation required.
The last two pictures are of the "Che Kung Temple" in Sha Tin, which is very popular. The old temple from the Qing Dynasty is behind the main hall (bottom of picture 20).

Modernand Ancient: Exhibition Pavilions of Hong Kong Cultural Heritage Museum
#exhibitioninthepavilion
The Hong Kong Museum of Cultural Heritage is surrounded by lush greenery, and the towers of the Shatin residential complexes are not visible from here. It is modeled after the traditional Siheyuan, a group of buildings harmoniously arranged around a central courtyard. But people come here not only to explore the intricate architecture. The extensive museum is divided into twelve exhibition galleries full of relics that reflect the culture and art of Hong Kong, as well as the nearby South China region. Here we should highlight the collection of beautiful Chinese paintings from the recognized master of the Khingan school, Chao Shao-An, a comprehensive and colorful exhibition dedicated to the development of Cantonese opera. It is also home to the first exhibition gallery in Hong Kong dedicated to the works of the famous writer Dr. Lewis Cha (literary pseudonym – Jing Yong), whose exhibits include more than 300 items, including early editions of the works of Jing Yong, priceless manuscripts, documents and photos.
The full name of Hong Kong Cultural Heritage Museum in Chinese is 香港文化博物館.
Although located quite far from the center of Hong Kong, this museum complex is very interesting — it includes 12 thematic galleries with extensive collections of art and culture objects from the entire history of Hong Kong and the entire South China region in general, plus several separate collections. The expositions dedicated to Cantonese opera and lithography and printing are especially worth noting.
The Museum of Cultural Heritage is definitely worth visiting with a child, as there is an exhibition organized for children 4-10 years old in the museum. Here, in a playful way, they will talk about the origin of Hong Kong, its culture and nature. In addition to the permanent amazing exhibitions, temporary and seasonal exhibitions dedicated to the history, art and culture of China are held here.

When your mother is a fan of Jin Yong's novels, you must take her there...
My mother was a female literary youth when she was young, and she was also a fan of Jin Yong's novels. "The flying snow shoots the white deer, and the laughing book god leans on Bi Yun." Jin Yong's golden phrases come from all 14 novels and TV series Jin Yong's martial arts novels are popular. This year, the Hong Kong Cultural Museum in Shatin held the Greatest Knight - Jin Yong's Centenary Birthday Commemorative Ren Zhe Sculpture Exhibition for six months.
The sculptures were created by the famous Chinese sculptor #Ren Zhe and are based on Jin Yong's martial arts characters, including the classic characters of Yang Guo and Xiao Longnu in "The Condor Heroes", "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" and "Snow Mountain Flying Fox", as well There will also be a Mongolian bag and POV trial of "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", so that fans of the novel can immerse themselves in Jin Yong's martial arts world!

Hong Kong Exhibition Viewing | Three Exhibitions Fans of Hong Kong Dramas Can't Miss
| Three Exhibitions Fans of Hong Kong Dramas Can't Miss. August coincides with the Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival, and together with friends, we visited the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin, bringing you a fresh and hot exhibition express~
.
1、【Continuing the Adoration: Leslie Cheung Memorial Exhibition】
Themed 'Only love and longing can traverse time and space,' the exhibition is co-curated by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and three of Leslie Cheung's close friends (Chen Shufen, Zhang Shuping, Xia Yongkang) from his lifetime. Through trophies, records, old photos, and performance costumes, we are taken back to review Leslie's artistic achievements and his impact on Hong Kong's pop culture, commemorating the 20th anniversary of his passing.
For the first time, four of Leslie's stage costumes are displayed in mid-air, such as the red cape from 'Crossing 97', the sparkling stone suit and red high heels; the white feather outfit and blue beaded jeans from the 'Passion Tour' and more. The entire exhibition hall is bathed in red neon light, as if he has never been far away.
With a ticket, you can receive a free commemorative poster of Leslie at the exit of the memorial hall.
📍Exhibition location: Second floor exhibition space of the museum
📅Exhibition period: From now until October 9, 2023
2、【Creating from Nothing: Hong Kong Film Art and Costume Design Exhibition】
'The light and shadow on the silver screen are like an unlocked door, allowing us to easily break into another time and space, temporarily withdrawing from ordinary life.' Hong Kong cinema has always been blooming with diversity, and the surreal world displayed on the screen is inseparable from the efforts and contributions of the art and costume design teams. The exhibition, through a series of costume designs, draft drawings, industry tools, and scenes, leads us into the behind-the-scenes world of films, experiencing the establishment process of Hong Kong film art professionals, and feeling the professionalism and dedication of film workers.
Because Hong Kong cinema does not have the habit of preserving costumes or props, the exhibits on display are all treasured collections gathered over many years. For example, the court attire from 'Curse of the Golden Flower', Maggie Cheung's ancient red dress from 'Hero', Wong Cho-lam's barrister's robe from 'The Sharp-tongued Lawyer', and Brigitte Lin's coat from 'Chungking Express' are all real costumes and props seen in Hong Kong films, appearing before our eyes, enough to shock me, who has been a fan of Hong Kong films since childhood.
📍Exhibition location: First floor of the museum
📅Exhibition period: From now until September 4, 2023 (Ticket price 10HKD)
-
3、【Trendy Hong Kong 60+】
Located on the first floor, this permanent exhibition focuses on the development of Hong Kong's pop music, movies, television, and radio from post-World War II to the present. Through over a thousand exhibits, it tells the story of the evolution of Hong Kong's pop culture, leading us to discover the artistic characteristics and culture of Hong Kong. Here you can see Wong Ka Kui of Beyond's guitar, Anita Mui's wedding dress from her farewell concert, and more, feeling the different facets of pop culture presented in the torrents of history, with tides rising and falling, not to be missed~
📍Exhibition location: Permanent exhibition hall on the first floor of the museum

Paying tribute to the classics🫡, saluting the old generation of singers and movie stars in Hong Kong
It's been a long time since I've been to Hong Kong🇭🇰 to see an exhibition.
My husband came with me to revisit the classics.
-
Time has settled down into classics.
The unforgettable are always classics🎬🎵
-
It's been years since I last visited the Hong Kong museum🇭🇰.
Actually, Sha Tin is quite comfortable😌, although it can't compare to the hustle and bustle of Victoria Harbour or Harbour City, it's very easy to find peace here.
Slowly feeling, slowly living.
That's probably why they chose this place for brother's memorial exhibition❤️
-
I always feel that the pace of life in Hong Kong is very fast, and every time I come, I go to those crowded places. Today, for the first time, I had a different experience visiting an exhibition, and I felt peaceful and comfortable in body and mind.
-
When we arrived at two o'clock🕑, as soon as we entered, my ears👂🏻 felt so comfortable😌.
It was music🎶 playing, so let's review the classics accompanied by the melodious singing🎬.
-
We saw brother's memorial exhibition, many of his classic clothes, shoes.
And many classic Hong Kong movies🎬 and music🎵 from the 60s.
-
Classics are classics, paying tribute to the classics🫡.
My husband still knows how to find a place that provokes thought and makes one appreciate the experience of seeing an exhibition even more.

Take a city walk in Hong Kong
Next stop, arriving in Hong Kong.
It's my third time in Hong Kong, and this weekend was supposed to be about helping a friend with a credit card application. However, unexpectedly, it's Easter holiday, so it was a wasted trip. Instead, let's have a Hong Kong City walk.
Perhaps it's because I'm Cantonese and grew up watching Hong Kong films, I've always had a special affection for Hong Kong. I can always find fragments of childhood memories in the streets and alleys of Hong Kong, warm and nostalgic.
First stop: Sham Shui Po Apliu Street.
I usually visit the Central and Causeway Bay areas in Hong Kong, which are bustling but lack some of the Hong Kong flavor. Sham Shui Po reveals the essence of life, stripped of the bustling decorations.
Here I ate at Ah Yat Tofu and Sun Heung Yuen. Ah Yat Tofu is very generous with its ingredients, with a strong bean flavor and a light beany taste, but it's all sweet here, so be cautious if you can't handle sweet tofu desserts! (Personally, I prefer the softer ones). Sun Heung Yuen really offers great value for money. My friend and I ordered pig's trotter noodles, beef brisket noodles, and egg beef sandwiches. The noodles are very chewy and the portions are generous (the same portion and price are almost the same as in Guangzhou), the pig's trotter is soft and melts in your mouth, and the beef brisket is very flavorful. Compared to their signature dishes, they seem a bit ordinary.
Second stop: Hong Kong Heritage Museum.
To understand a city, you must first understand its history and culture. Jin Yong's martial arts novels and unique film art are important parts of Hong Kong culture. The artworks are also very interesting. It's hard to believe that these are artworks from 50 years ago. I recommend everyone to go and see for themselves to gain a deeper understanding of Hong Kong.
Third stop: Hong Kong Palace Museum.
Located next to Victoria Harbour, you need to purchase tickets at the self-service ticket machine on the first floor. A regular ticket costs 55 yuan and allows access to galleries 1-6. Galleries 7-9 require an additional ticket (the Palace Museum galleries are also inside). Most of the exhibits are from the Ming and Qing dynasties (I wonder if they were all 'taken' by the British army), and you can also see the opulence of the Qing era. There are also a few private exhibits. I recommend it to anyone interested in or with a good understanding of Qing dynasty history, as you can basically learn about the life of the Qing royal family.
