Hotel Majapahit Surabaya
This hotel design reminds me of the Raffles hotel in Singapore. Built-in 1910, the hotel is a historic hotel with a national pride, where there was a history of revolution between the Indonesian nationalist movement with British troops and the Dutch colonial era.
The atmosphere is like traveling back to the past, to the colonial era in the 1940s. The tile's design, the decor, the bed room, the furniture and the memorial items are well maintained. I love the garden and the landscape, it is so beautiful and charming.
The best location in the heart of Surabaya city, within short walking distance to Tunjungan Plaza, one of the most famous malls in Surabaya.
Two restaurants inside the hotel and a cozy pub with English vibes. Outdoor swiming pool , gym, spa and sauna.
There has been changed several times for the names and management in the past, the Accor manage the currrent management.
Address: Tunjungan St No.65, Genteng, Surabaya City, East Java 60275, Indonesia

With an inconspicuous outlook at the front door, this hotel possesses a surprisingly fantastic view hidden inside. Aged since 1911, this colonial-era hotel is a landmark in the downtown area of Surabaya city. The Heritage Room owns a front yard and broad garden view right in front of the yard. Inside room is all furnitured with colonial style, although some is wornout a bit and better renovated before the future waves of tourists after conora virus pendamic. Passing through the SPA reception, you will find a 50m swimming pool and a gym with all kinds of facilities. 5 mins walk from the hotel you will find the massive Tunjungan Plaza with all kinds of shopping stores and restaurants. It is also a commercial city mainly engaged in trade. The most worthwhile hotel to stay in Surabaya is this century-old legendary hotel listed as a cultural heritage site.
The most worthwhile hotel to stay in Surabaya, Indonesia is this beautiful hotel with a history of 100 years. Surabaya - Majapahit Hotel. The hotel was formerly the Mandarin Oriental, and it was a luxury hotel established by the legendary Armenian family in 1910, 114 years ago, along with Raffles in Singapore! The luxury hotel matrix they established dominated the hotel industry in the colonies for nearly 50 years.
In 2014, the Majapahit Hotel in Surabaya was recognized as a cultural heritage site by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, becoming a classic landmark full of national pride. Staying in a historic hotel with a story undoubtedly adds color to our trip and allows us to experience Indonesia from different perspectives. When stepping into the hotel, it feels like going back to the past. Old photos and paintings of Surabaya are hung everywhere in the hotel lobby, exuding a strong historical atmosphere.
The hotel building retains the original appearance of the Dutch colonial period a hundred years ago, exuding the luxury and elegance of the old times. The white building with a porch is matched with a green tropical plant garden, which is elegant and romantic, revealing a strong colonial style. Combining history, romance and elegance, don't miss this high cost-effective luxury hotel when traveling to Surabaya, Indonesia.

This century-old luxury hotel is definitely worth a stay in Surabaya!
Indonesia has many hidden gems, including Bali, Bintan, and Jakarta. On the way from Surabaya Airport to Bali, you can also see stunning volcanoes. Bromo Volcano, which has been featured on the cover of Lonely Planet magazine, is known as the Lonely Planet and feels like the end of the world. It's definitely worth a trip to chase the sunrise over the volcano.
If you want to stay in Surabaya before going to the volcano, I highly recommend the Majapahit Surabaya. This luxury hotel was founded by the Armenian Sarkies brothers in 1910 and has a history of 114 years. The hotels opened by the Sarkies family in Southeast Asia include Raffles Singapore, Eastern & Oriental Hotel in Penang, Malaysia, The Strand Hotel in Myanmar, and Oranje (now Majapahit) in Surabaya, Indonesia. The luxury hotel alliance they established dominated the hotel industry during the colonial period for nearly 50 years.
The hotel building dates back to the Dutch colonial period and has a style of that era. It's hard to find another hotel in Surabaya, Indonesia with such a unique style. The hotel is located in the city center of Surabaya, making it convenient for shopping and strolling around. However, the hotel creates a modern and retro holiday atmosphere, giving you a "peaceful as soon as you enter" holiday experience. Although it has been a hundred years, the hotel's decoration is still classic. Wandering around, you can't help but sigh that the design of a hundred years ago is still pleasing to the eye and has a timeless appeal!

Surabaya City Center | Century-old vintage garden hotel.
-Environment🏡
The outdoor environment is great, with several gardens and fountains. The feeling of the sun shining through the trees onto the lawn is really beautiful. The interior decoration is relatively old, with a strong vintage style, but the texture is not bad.
-Location & Transportation🚩
Located on the largest mall and the busiest Tunjungan Street in Surabaya, there are many places to visit and many restaurants, and it is convenient to go anywhere.
-Service✨
The service is very good, and the English level is also very good, and communication is unimpeded.
-Room🛏
The room is very large and comfortable, and the hygiene is good in Indonesian hotels. Many people say that the bedding is dirty, but Indonesian hotels basically have some hygiene problems. If you mind, you can bring a sleeping bag to Indonesia.
-Breakfast🥙
Breakfast is a regular buffet breakfast, with a variety of varieties and good taste. The breakfast restaurant is also very vintage, and the shutters are very atmospheric.
Overall it is worth recommending!

Indonesia - Surabaya: Get to know a city and its history from a hotel!
Traveling with my mom - our fifth hotel in Surabaya, Indonesia, we chose the Majapahit Surabaya. This is also the hotel I personally think is the most worth staying in Surabaya! Because this is a hotel with historical significance - it is also a landmark building of Surabaya's cultural heritage. Its predecessor was the Mandarin Oriental's Majapahit Surabaya, which opened in 1910 - originally called the Oranje Hotel, and the Raffles Hotel in Singapore are both works of the Armenian businessman Sarkies Brothers, and it has been 114 years to this day!
Choosing the Majapahit Surabaya is to choose a nostalgic feeling, explore the unique accommodation experience of Dutch-style architecture - the history, romance and elegance here have left a deep impression on us. Many places in the hotel still display photos and objects of the historical buildings of this hotel and Surabaya in the last century - and the Dutch colonial architectural style hotel has actually become a small immersive nostalgic experience museum.
The hotel's main restaurant is called Indigo Bar & Restaurant. This name comes from the combination of purple and blue colors in the spectrum of the restaurant's top view - Indigo Restaurant is a fusion dining experience, Eastern and Western cuisine in a typical decorative art colorful environment. The selected Indonesian, Western and Asian specialties, as part of the Surabaya cultural heritage landmark, the hotel's mission is to protect and ensure that Indonesian cuisine is one of the most popular dishes in the world.

Today, we're going to explore a hidden gem in Surabaya, Indonesia - the Surabaya Majapahit Hotel! 🌟
Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia, may not be as well-known as Jakarta, Bandung, or Bali, but it has its own unique charm. This hotel is located in a city full of history and culture. It was converted from a governor's mansion during the Dutch colonial period. The white exterior and arched corridors instantly transport you back to a time when the Nanyang style was in full swing. 🏰
The hotel's design is breathtaking! The orderly grid-shaped buildings enclose square courtyards, where various tropical plants thrive. Hibiscus, traveler's palm, bougainvillea... Each one is huge and shiny, making you feel like you're in a tropical rainforest. 🌿🌺
The hotel's interior decoration is also full of retro style, with mosaic tiles, colored glass windows, and classic 19th-century Nanyang-style furniture. Every corner reveals the Dutch colonial style of the past. Put on a light-colored retro outfit and you'll blend in perfectly with the atmosphere, as if you were a member of that era. 👗👒
Surabaya's cityscape may not be as bustling as other big cities, but as an important port city, it has its own unique history and culture. Moreover, as the gateway to Mount Bromo, it attracts countless tourists to explore. 🌋
So, if you want to experience a different kind of trip, the Surabaya Majapahit Hotel is definitely your best choice! Come and experience this tropical paradise that takes you back to the Dutch colonial era! 🎉

Over 100 years 5 stars Hotel in Surabaya
The Hotel Majapahit is a historic hotel in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia, opened in 1911.The opening was celebrated with a royal party attended by Crown Prince Leopold III from Belgium, Princess Astrid from Sweden and Charlie Chaplin.
During the WWII Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies from 1942 to 1945, the hotel was renamed Hotel Yamato. It was used as the headquarters of the Japanese forces in East Java.
The hotel was the site of the famous "Hotel Yamato Incident" on 19 September 1945 when pro-nationalist Indonesian youth revolutionaries tore away the blue portion of the Dutch flag flown above the hotel to change it to the red-and-white Indonesian flag in the lead-up to the Battle of Surabaya. Following this incident, the hotel was renamed the Hotel Merdeka (Independence Hotel).
In 2014, Hotel Majapahit was officially recognized as a cultural heritage landmark by the Ministry of Education and Culture.#historicallandmarks ##history

Staying in Surabaya | Majapahit Hotel managed by AccorHotels
Although it's just for one night, the accommodation should not be taken lightly.
I chose this Surabaya - Majapahit Hotel managed by AccorHotels and it was a pleasant surprise.
Full of colonial charm, if you look closely, it has a striking resemblance to the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Tracing back the origins, they indeed share a common ancestry.
It is said that the hotel was previously listed under MO, and after the brand was removed, the prices became much more down-to-earth. Hotel prices in Surabaya are already low, and staying here even just for one night is wonderful. It's worth making a special trip to visit.
