There are many lakes and lakes formed by volcanic eruptions around the world, but lakes and rocks are different. It is a heart-shaped lake formed by the evaporation of water from the magma during the eruption of the volcano, known as the Malang Lake. There are only two lakes in the world, and Malang Lake in Zhanjiang is the largest in the world. But do you know why goldfish are actually raised in the lakes of Huguangyan? This answer is engraved on the wall of the millennium. If you want to know, you can find the answer yourself.
There are only two preserved lakes in the world: one in Germany and one in the lakes of Zhanjiang. Huguangyan looks from a high altitude and presents a heart shape. The lake is not too big, and you can see the other side at a glance. The lake is crystal clear and the green plants are everywhere. It takes about 3-4 hours to walk along the greenway.

Lake Guangyan | Take a walk when you're in a good mood
Take a walk when you're in a good mood. It is said that there were originally 74 maar lakes in the world, but currently only 9 of them contain water, and Lake Guangyan is one of them. It has been formed for over a hundred thousand years and is a national geological park, as well as a world geological park. Seeing it today, the water is indeed crystal clear, the environment is beautiful, the greenery is lush, and the climate is cool, making it a great summer retreat!
The park's entrance fee is 50 yuan for adults and 15 yuan per person for those under 14 years old. Inside the park, there are sightseeing tour vehicles, costing 20 yuan for adults and 10 yuan for children under 1.4 meters.
There are temples and hotels, although the hotels look rather old and I did not go inside.
I recommend visiting the Zhanjiang Museum, which, although not large, is housed in a building from the 1960s. The exhibits allow younger generations to understand the revolutionary history of our two Guang regions and to recognize the historical culture of the Yue-Gui area. Admission to the museum is free, and in the backyard, there is a fine display of bonsai art by Master Li Shisong. Some of the bonsai have been maintained for decades and are truly impressive!

Zhanjiang | Huguangyan "Natural Oxygen Bar"
Huguangyan "Natural Oxygen Bar". The world's second Maar lake, a volcanic crater lake
Taking photos near the bald cypress trees is very photogenic, that area is a "high-density negative ion oxygen absorption zone"
Find a comfortable afternoon, take a stroll, get close to nature and take deep breaths of oxygen. Sit on the grass/sit between pavilions facing the lake, let the wind blow and clear your mind, it's very healing.

Huguangyan
Huguangyan Scenic Area is located in Huguang Town, Mazhang District, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, and is the core scenic area of the Leiqiong Global Geopark. It is famous for its rare and typical maar volcanic geological relics formed by the Quaternary volcanic eruption and its excellent natural ecological environment. It was formed between 140,000 to 160,000 years ago, mainly consisting of a double volcanic crater lake and volcanic rock walls. The total area of the scenic spot is 4.7 square kilometers, of which the lake area accounts for 2.3 square kilometers.
The scenery is quite nice, suitable for leisurely tours. Walking around takes quite some time, so it is recommended to drive into the park or take the sightseeing train within the park for comfort (driving into the park seems to require an additional entrance fee). You can get off at the attractions to visit and then wait for the car to go to the next spot. The ticket is a through ticket, allowing you to get on and off at will, and there are frequent train services.

Guangxi Beihai - Guangdong Zhanjiang
2023.12.19
Weather: Overcast, 11-16 degrees.
Today's temperature has risen slightly. According to locals, the temperature in the past two days is the lowest in the south in winter. The rapid drop in temperature makes it feel cold, and the stubborn southerners reluctantly put on down jackets.
First, a photo of "Beibu Gulf No.1" (Figure 1). This is a commercial real estate near where I stayed last night. It is a white-style art building with a long building with a coastline of nearly 700 meters. The shape is novel, like waves and Guilin landscape, and it has become a popular check-in spot. All the rooms facing north in the building are sea-view rooms.
Originally planned to go to Zhanjiang from Beihai, I wanted to detour to the southernmost Xuwen County of Leizhou Peninsula - the "South Pole Village" of mainland China for check-in. Because it needs to walk more than 300 kilometers, it takes more than four hours, and there are no scenic spots along the way. After referring to the advice of friends, I decided to give up.
In the morning, I went straight from Beihai to Zhanjiang, arrived before noon, and went to the nearby Huguangyan.
Huguangyan Scenic Area (4A), World Geological Park, a scenic spot with beautiful mountains and clear waters on the Leizhou Peninsula (Figure 2).
The scenic area is composed of a volcanic crater lake (Figure 3) and volcanic lava (Figure 4). It is one of the three existing volcanic lakes in our country and one of the only two maar lakes in the world (the other is in Germany). The lake originates from groundwater and has a natural self-purification function. It has never dried up even in the year of severe drought (Figure 5).
What's peculiar is that there are no common aquatic animals such as frogs and snakes in this ecologically good and pure lake, and the fallen leaves are nowhere to be seen, adding a mysterious atmosphere to this volcanic lake.
The scenic area does not have too many man-made landscapes, it is relatively primitive (Figure 6), and the management is also good, neat and orderly (Figure 7). The lake is about seven kilometers around, and you can walk or drive around. The vegetation around the lake is dense (Figure 8), and the air is fresh; a large king coconut forest is tall and beautiful (Figure 9).
Stay in Zhanjiang City tonight and go to Maoming tomorrow.

This is one of the three existing volcanic lakes in our country
Here, with a long history, the lake and mountains reflect each other, creating a picturesque scenery with deep cultural connotations. It is also one of the three existing volcanic lakes in our country, and one of the two major maar lakes in the world. It has coastal geomorphological relics from more than 200,000 years ago and is a good place for leisure and sightseeing. It is Huguangyan, a must-visit spot in Zhanjiang.
Non-local tourists may be unfamiliar with this scenic area. In fact, Huguangyan Scenic Area is well-known locally. The full name of Huguangyan Scenic Area is Huguangyan World Geopark, a famous local volcanic crater scenic area with a long formation history and high scientific value. Especially the sediments at the bottom of the lake, which truly restore the development and changes of ancient climate and environment, are typical representatives of China's maar lakes, containing a lot of information about ancient environmental changes, and have high reference and research value. Huguangyan World Geopark is located in Huguang Town, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. Not only does it have a deep historical background, but the scenery is also beautiful. Here, the mirror-like lake reflects the moon, the sky and the water blend together, ancient trees tower into the sky, roots are twisted and intertwined, vegetation is lush, and the air is excellent. Being here makes people feel relaxed and peaceful.
In addition to this, there are cliffs and steep walls all around, with a majestic momentum, especially the stratification of volcanic rocks and the rhythm of eruption, which are still clear and complete. The folds, joints and faults formed by the stratification of volcanic rocks, in the long river of time, with the occurrence of tectonic movements, show the original horizontal stratification as either inclined, upright, or curved, which is pleasing to the eye. There is also a cliff stone carving with the words 'Huguangyan', which was inscribed by Li Gang, the prime minister of the Song Dynasty. It has been preserved to this day, and the font is still clear and distinguishable, with a sense of history and age. The must-see attractions mainly include Huguangyan Maar Lake and Leiqiong World Geopark Museum, etc. Here, let's first popularize the maar lake. The so-called maar lake can be intuitively understood as a rare volcanic lake, and it is extremely rare. As the name suggests, it is a lake formed by the sinking of land water after the cooling of a volcanic eruption. The lake water self-purifies and never dries up.
Main attractions overview: Huguangyan Maar Lake is about 20 meters deep, mainly sourced from the infiltration of groundwater and the replenishment of natural rainwater, composed of the east and west lakes, with the west lake being the largest. Here, the mountains are clear and the water is beautiful, the lake is clear, and the trail is leisurely, very suitable for calming down and self-cultivation here. Leiqiong World Geopark Museum is one of the important attractions of Huguangyan Scenic Area. The exhibition hall covers a large area, with pictures and texts complementing each other, rich in content, exquisite and unparalleled, vividly and vividly introducing the evolution process of Huguangyan geology, which is eye-opening. Traffic strategy: The nearest public transportation stops nearby are the third and ninth routes. Tourists going there can get off at the west or east gate of Huguangyan and arrive. The farthest stop from the scenic area is route 507. Tourists going there need to get off at the intersection of Ocean University Road, and then walk about two kilometers to arrive.
Non-self-driving tourists get on the bus from Zhanjiang West Station or Lianjiang Station, and need to follow the original route of Route 6 or Route 9 to arrive. Ticket policy: Adult tickets are 50 yuan per person, college students are 25 yuan per person, primary and secondary school students are 15 yuan per person, children under 1.2 meters (not included) and elderly people over 65 years old (included) are exempt from tickets. Friendly reminder: The lake tour bus is 20 yuan per person, and children are ten yuan per person. The lake driving distance is seven kilometers per lap. The scenic area is open all year round and closes at 18 o'clock every day. If you have plenty of time, you can also go to Techeng Island, which is about 15 kilometers away from the scenic area. It is a natural good port in the waterway of Zhanjiang Bay. The air there is beautiful, it is spring all year round, the sea water is clear and bottomless, and thousands of acres of mangroves are scattered, which is spectacular. You can also experience the Zhanjiang Red-billed Gull Cruise, which is 18 kilometers away from the scenic area, and take a boat to enjoy the scenery on both sides of Zhanjiang Port.

Nourish your heart, come to the serene Lake Guangyan in Zhanjiang
It's 39 kilometers from Leizhou City to Zhanjiang Lake Guangyan Scenic Area, and the online taxi fare is 88 yuan.
We take the route from west to east, the reason is that the highlights and attractions are near the west gate. The east gate is the main entrance, where you can store your luggage for free, but there is no storage place at the west gate. This is our last stop in Leizhou Peninsula, so we have to drag our suitcases around.
Do you know the origin of the three characters of Lake Guangyan? I found the answer in the park. It turns out that Li Gang, the prime minister of the Song Dynasty, was demoted to Hainan and passed by here. He was moved by the lake and mountains and happily wrote the three characters of Lake Guangyan.
I think Lake Guangyan is very peculiar. The peculiarity lies in the low flat volcanic crater that was formed 140,000 to 160,000 years ago due to a volcanic eruption; the uniqueness lies in it being the largest and most typical 'Maar Lake' in the world.
Stepping into the Geological Museum, you can appreciate the magic of nature during a volcanic eruption; under the thousand-year-old wall, you can listen to the long history; entering the 'Lengyan Temple' you can admire the handwriting of Li Gang's Lake Guangyan; coming to the natural oxygen bar with 105688 negative ions per cubic, you can breathe in some oxygen and take deep breaths; the Poetry and Calligraphy Corridor allows you to feel the appreciation of literati for the beauty of the lake and mountains. Then, either walk along the lakeside path or sit by the water and daze, feeling the ripples and tranquility of the lake can relieve inner pressure and nourish the heart.
Slowly, one by one, we visited the attractions, from the west gate to the east gate 3.5 kilometers, played for three and a half hours, and still a bit reluctant to leave the beautiful and serene Lake Guangyan.

The water of Zhanjiang Lake Light Rock is very clear, and it can clearly reflect the blue sky, white clouds, red flowers and green trees. The weather is cloudy with a blue smoke-like mist on the lake and across the lake. If you go there to wash your face, you will feel extraordinarily refreshed.
The south bank of the lake has a thousand-year-old ancient temple, the Shuyan Temple. The structure of the temple is balanced, deep and strict, and the flying plaques, gates and cabinets made of brick and stone are all reflecting the charm of oriental classical architecture. The word "severe stern" may be taken from the Buddhist Shurangama Sutra, which means that the Dharma is strong.
Huguangyan's most prominent sign is that there is a huge tortoise in front of the scenic spot and a few dragon fish with faucet fishtails. It looks like a leaping dragon in the water, much like the creatures of ancient times, to the lake. Light rock adds some mysterious atmosphere. These stone sculptures were built in 2006. The idea came from the suspected arowana monsters photographed by a photographer in Huguangyan in 1999.
But the mystery of Huguangyan is not only manifested in these arowana monsters. It is said that the water of Huguangyan has a magical scene of automatic purification. In autumn, when the leaves are falling, but the lake light There are no leaves on the water surface of the rock.

Zhanjiang World Address Park "Huguangyan", a mountain rock in front of the east gate of the scenic spot is engraved with several characters of "Huguangyan" and the logo of "World Geopark". In that Wang Bibo, there is a "Dragonfish" sculpture that appeared in the lake in the local legend, and there is a sculpture of a giant turtle that is vividly carved.
The depth of the center of Malang Lake is beyond common sense. There used to be a "bottomless", but it is generally only a few tens of meters deep. There have been groundwater and rainwater injections for many years. I heard that the lake water has no export but it can be automatically balanced, and the drought does not overflow, which makes people wonder.
The scenery of the lake is beautiful, the water is clear, just like a mirror. The breeze blows, swaying gently, the scales rise with the wind, countless waves, chasing, playing. The cascading peaks and turquoise waters outline a beautiful natural landscape.

Huguangyan Scenic Spot, the eight of the eight scenic spots in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, is a national-level natural scenic spot and a national geological park of great significance. The entire scenic spot is a comprehensive scenic area that combines natural and human landscapes.
Entering the scenic spot, you can see a water area surrounded by lush trees. This is the core scenic spot in the Huguangyan Scenic Area - Malang Lake. The reason for becoming a core scenic spot is because of the unique formation of Malang Lake and because of its important geological research value.
Maer Lake is one of the three existing volcanic lakes in China. It was formed in a flat volcanic eruption called the Malang type about 160,000 years ago. There are only two large Malang lakes in the world, one in Germany and the other in China, which is the Malang Lake in the Huguangyan Scenic Area.
Looking far away, the lush green forest spread slowly along the Malang Lake, like a natural green barrier that will hold Malang Lake into your arms. The cool and clean lakes attract the children who love nature and play here. Under the blue sky and white clouds, it is a green silky forest surrounded by a clear lake like a mirror. The water is the playful figure of the children. The laughter echoes on the entire Malang Lake, and it is harmonious and harmonious.
