I found a Hangzhou citywalk day tour that is even more fun than the West Lake
For the Dragon Boat Festival in Hangzhou, instead of the crowded West Lake and Lingyin, I recommend this super niche and eye-pleasing Hangzhou one-day citywalk route❗️
It's all about eye protection and lung nourishment with greenery along the way🌲

🗺️ Route share:
Hupao Park — Hangzhou Zoo/Children's Park (suitable for taking kids🉑) — Manjuelong — Yangmeiling — Li'an Temple — Jiuxi Yanshu
⏱️ The total walking distance is about 7km, with a reference time of 4-5 hours for walking and playing.
·
📸
1️⃣ 'Hupao Park'
The entrance is a forest of dawn redwoods🌲 The duckweed, lotus leaves, and carps in the pond are serene and dreamy. This place also hides the third-best spring in the world—Hupao Spring, where many locals come with buckets to collect spring water every day.
2️⃣ 'Manjuelong'
Even without the fragrance of osmanthus, this place is still worth a visit~ Artistic village, various petty-bourgeois☕ shops, and the same kind of bathhouse from 'Spirited Away'. Climbing up the tea mountain from the small path beside the bathhouse, you will find the trail where Li Shutong wrote 'Farewell'~🌳 There is also a swing on the mountain, from which you can overlook the entire West Lake!
3️⃣ 'Jiuxi'
From Yangmeiling down to Li'an Temple and then to Jiuxi Yanshu, there will be fewer people on this route than entering from the main entrance of Jiuxi. The water of Jiuxi Lake is azure blue on sunny days, comparable to 'Little Jiuzhaigou', and there are also waterfall streams and tea garden trails, very comfortable~

In Hangzhou, I only come to this one place to enjoy the maple leaves, which can be called the ceiling
Hi~ I'm Xiao Xiao Tian, who quit the job of a TV host for 10 years
I love traveling and want to share my free and simple life with your friends
-
🍁The maple forest sings in the evening, it's not too late, but if you miss this wave
The maple tree king, which can be called the ceiling of Hangzhou, how regretful it would be
I have been to Jiuxi, Guozhuang, and seen Quyuan Fenghe
To say the most beautiful place to enjoy maple leaves in Hangzhou in December, I only come here
-
Hidden in the mountains, forests and springs of West Lake, step up, the metasequoia turns yellow
And in the garden buildings and Chinese romance
The maple tree king that blooms in the sun at the edge of the Hupao Spring
The most beautiful look of autumn, in the light and starlight, beautiful to the heart...

🚶|【My photo tour route】
Hupao Park gate→Release Pond→Hupao Dream Spring Cuie Tang→Yicui Pavilion→Jiyaxuan→Shengquan→A piece of autumn round arch→Hupao Spring stairs→The third spring corridor in the world
-
📷|【Three maple leaf viewing and photo spots】
1⃣️Hupao Spring/Cuie Tang: After coming in, go up to the top of the mountain
The Maple Tree King is at the corner of the Hupao Spring, at noon, the sun shines directly on the front of the maple tree, the sun shines through the gaps in the maple leaves, sparkling, presenting starlight, people stand in front of the tree, take a wide-angle shot
-
2⃣️Shengquan/A piece of autumn gate/Yangzhi Pavilion:
The sapphire-like spring water, a few red maples along the spring water, standing by the spring, with a wide view, mottled light and shadow, walking into the "A piece of autumn" gate, traditional Chinese garden landscape, dreamlike
-
3⃣️"Hupao Spring" big word steps/"The third spring in the world" path:
People stand under the red maple, side shots can take the three words of Hupao Spring, there is a straight path on the left hand side, the wall is inscribed with "The third spring in the world", you can take a long shot with the maple tree as the foreground, with a sense of depth
-
‼️|【Some photo play Tips, hin important‼️】
▪️After coming in, go directly to Hupao Spring to take pictures of the Maple Tree King, the mountain is not high, Hupao Park is not big, take the rest later!
▪️Be sure to come around noon! The sun shines directly on the maple tree, you can take starlight, and the leaves are transparent
▪️Wide-angle lens, below 24 focal length can take the dense feeling of the maple tree, open the 0.5x wide-angle lens on the phone
▪️Stand behind the maple tree to take pictures, not only the light is good but also the maple tree can be compressed to feel more tense and tall...
☀️Be sure to come on a sunny day, without the sun there is no starlight, without light the maple tree does not shine (good rhyme, haha)

Hupao - Running Tiger Springs, Hangzhou
After the missed chance to explore the garden, wasn't leaving any other spots to chance. so, I set off at 10:40am from my hotel to get to this spring at 11a.m. There is a ticket booth just out front where you scan QR code to pay and get your entry code (and the norm temperature and Green code checks).. Entrance fee was just 15 rmb and the time slot was an hour (I was surprised because I assumed I would need longer) but that was exactly enough.
Getting There - This was a lazy trip for me, I used a didi to get here but there is a bus stop opposite the entrance that might be more helpful.. it is on Hupao road, Hangzhou.
Attractions - Lovely location, you will notice a lot of chinese with containers of water - bottling up the spring water for its magical powers, I heard.. that was quite interesting to see.. there are a few things there, the spring, a pagoda court and a temple Hall.. To be honest, I expected a tad bit more. the spring in front of the statue was looking a bit dried up.. but lots of other smaller running springs around.. Be ready for a few hilly walks and stairs..
Food & Restaurants - There is a few restaurant option on site - chinese cuisine..

Hupao Park. It is also located between hills in the West Lake scenic area. This is nice park lying through the forest with pine trees, bamboo and subtropical trees. The stone tigers are guarding this place. There is located one of the springs in Hangzhou city, giving the pure cristal clean water.

Hupao Park
I had always heard of Hupao Park and thought it was 'Lake Pao Park', a kind of artificial lake, so I lost interest. Today, seeing its lineup, I genuinely feel in my heart that it's a serene place held back by its name. A very primitive forest oxygen bar, with beautiful scenery at every step! I fantasize about how pleasant it would be to come here for a walk and sit down after a tiring week of work!

Tiger Spring has a source of water
Tiger Spring is located at the foot of Baihe Peak on Daci Mountain near West Lake. In the fourteenth year of the Tang Dynasty's Yuanhe era (819), the master monk Xingkong settled here and built a temple; the Song Dynasty's eminent monk Jigong passed away at Tiger Spring Temple; the high monk Hongyi also took his monastic vows at Tiger Spring Temple, which is famous for its renowned spring. Xingkong, Jigong, and Hongyi, these three famous monks, added a legendary and solemn color to this ancient temple.
According to legend, in the fourteenth year of the Tang Dynasty's Yuanhe era, the high monk Xingkong came here, liked the beautiful and spiritual scenery, and decided to stay. Due to the lack of a water source nearby and planning to move elsewhere, one night he dreamed that a divine being instructed him: 'There is a spring of a boy in Nanyue, you should send two tigers to bring it here.' The next day, he indeed saw two tigers digging the ground, and clear spring water immediately gushed out, hence the name Tiger Spring. The spring water seeps out from the steep fault cliffs of sandstone and quartz sand behind Daci Mountain, with a measured flow rate of 43.2--86.4 cubic meters per day. The spring water is crystal clear and refreshing, ranking first among the springs of West Lake, and together with Longjing Spring, it is known as 'the third best spring in the world.' 'The tiger moved the spring's eye to the boy of Nanyue; through hundreds of thousands of eons, this true source remains.' -- This couplet at Tiger Spring Temple tells this mythological story, but with a deeper Buddhist meaning...

Hangzhou's Little Amazon | Hangzhou Hupao Park
Hupao Park, with its tall trees, dense vegetation, and springs and streams, is rightly called the 'Hangzhou Amazon' and 'Hangzhou's Enchanted Forest' by visitors. Walking in Hupao on a rainy day is the ultimate experience of 'green'.
The scenic spot is centered around the Hupao Spring, featuring Chinese architectural complexes, mountain forests, springs, sculptures, and pagoda courtyards. It is a distinctive scenic spot in Hangzhou that integrates natural and cultural landscapes, with a clear emphasis on forest and spring features. The water of Hupao Spring is especially pure, and along with Longjing tea leaves, it is acclaimed as one of the 'Two Wonders of West Lake'. Every day, many locals come with large buckets and small bottles to collect water to take home for drinking.
Public Transport: Hupao Bus Stop (Routes 4, 180, 318, 139...)
Self-driving navigation: Hupao East Gate, parking spaces are available on both sides of the entrance.
Ticket Price: 15 yuan, free for park cardholders, and also free for those who have purchased the 99 yuan cultural and tourism card.
Opening Hours: 7:00~17:30.

The Emerald City in the bustling market
This place should also be a memory left at least 25 years ago, but today it is not an exaggeration to describe it as an Emerald City, there is a unique comfort in this gloomy and rainy time. Hupao is full of legends, all related to the spring water, whether it was dug out by a tiger or moved from Nanyue by two tigers, the spring water indeed brings clear and sweet dew to the local people. No wonder Longjing tea brewed with Hupao spring water can taste the fragrance of the tea. I don't drink tea, but more than 25 years ago, the lotus root powder mixed with Hupao spring water was probably the best tasting experience. Now, for the sake of the ecological environment of the scenic area, tasting tea and mixing lotus root powder are no longer seen, but many villagers are still seen carrying mineral water bottles and jugs to fetch water.

Hupao Dream Spring is a serene and natural oxygen bar
The unforgettable scenic spot Hupao Dream Spring, located to the west of West Lake, is not only a place where the beauty of mountains and waters converge, but it also carries a profound cultural heritage. Here, one can find not only the natural landscape of clear springs flowing over rocks and towering trees, but also the Jigong Hall and the Li Shutong Memorial Hall, making every inch of land exude a cultural atmosphere. Strolling through Hupao, it feels like being in a quiet and secret realm. Under the cover of ancient trees, the spring water flows over stones, and the babbling sound is like music from heaven. Take a deep breath, and you can almost smell the fresh air of the primeval forest. Hangzhou's lesser-known scenic spot hides such stunning beauty; every step is a surprise, and every view is picture-perfect. Next time you visit West Lake, consider taking a walk through Hupao Dream Spring. Whether it's for photography, appreciating the scenery, or reflecting on the sages, you will have an unforgettable experience.

The beauty of Hangzhou lies not only in its four seasons, but also in its sunny or rainy days
Recently, it's the plum rain season, but tourists in Hangzhou are still coming in an endless stream
I went to a less popular park by the West Lake and surprisingly, there were hardly any people
The whole forest was moistened by the drizzle
The greenery was accompanied by a faint mist of rain
Listening to the streams and waterfalls tinkling by
It felt like I was in the Amazon's tropical rainforest

The third spring in the world and the first tea in the south of the Yangtze River are located by the West Lake
🐅There is an interesting legend about the origin of the name 'Tiger Run'. It is said that after the Zen master of the universe became a monk at the Tongzi Temple in Nanyue and came to Hangzhou, he was attracted by the beautiful scenery here and settled down. However, he wanted to leave because of the lack of water. 🌙One night, he had a dream in which a god said: 'The spring of Nanyue Tongzi should be moved here by two tigers'. The next morning, he saw two tigers digging a hole, and the spring water gushed out immediately. Since then, the spring has been named 'Tiger Run Spring', and the temple has also been called 'Tiger Run Temple'♥Tiger Run Park
~~
🏡'Tiger Run Dream Spring' is one of the new ten scenic spots of West Lake. There are many attractions in Tiger Run Park, especially the Tiger Run Spring, which is a fissure spring, a kind of high-quality natural drinking mineral water suitable for drinking and has considerable medical and health care functions. It is known as the 'Double Excellence of West Lake' together with Longjing Tea❗❗❗
🎈👉🏻Since the Southern Song Dynasty, people have always come to Tiger Run Spring to fetch water for tea. Not far from the main entrance, there is a water fetching point. Many local uncles and aunts will bring many big buckets to fetch water, and the queue is very long~~😂
~~
🏞️Tiger Run is the place where the legendary figure Living Buddha Jigong passed away and was buried. There is a Jigong Hall and a Jigong Pagoda Courtyard, which is the place where the ashes of Jidian Monk are buried. There is also a memorial hall for Master Hongyi, and a pagoda of Master Hongyi.
~~

Goodness! I arrived late and the maple leaves here in Hangzhou are stunningly beautiful
Hupao Park is a scenic spot in Hangzhou, located on Manjuelong Road. The park has attractions such as Shuangjue Pavilion, Hupao Statue, Release Pond, Jade Belt Pond, Jigong Pagoda Garden, Master Hongyi Memorial Hall, Hongyi Jing She, Hupao Dream Spring, and Yicui Pavilion.
The ticket price is 15 yuan, which can be paid by scanning the code on the entrance sign. The recommended tour route is: Ticket booth-Shuangjue Pavilion-Hupao Statue-Release Pond-Jade Belt Pond-Jigong Pagoda Garden-Master Hongyi Memorial Hall-Hongyi Jing She-Hupao Dream Spring-Yicui Pavilion-Ticket booth-Exit-Home.
The best time to take photos at the Jade Belt Pond is in the morning, because the water surface is illuminated, and it will darken after 2 pm. There are many small maple trees near the Release Pond, and you can walk up the steps leading to the three characters of Hupao Spring for an overhead shot. There is an umbrella-shaped red maple at the Hupao Dream Spring stele pavilion, and the shooting effect is very good at a low position. There is a large maple tree in the courtyard of Yicui Pavilion, and you can take photos from the corridor on the side or through the window. The tea seats under the maple tree require a fee for tea before you can sit, just look at it.
If you want to hike, there is a staircase on the right leading to the top of the mountain. According to the description of the cleaning worker, there is a pavilion on the top of the mountain overlooking the West Lake. I didn't go up because I couldn't climb anymore, interested people can try.

【Most Memorable is Hangzhou】The osmanthus at Tiger Running Temple, uniquely tranquil
In Hangzhou, the osmanthus blooms this year,
Coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day, and the Asian Games, three joys coming together,
It can be said that the good 'flower' knows the season!
Although under traffic control, cars from other provinces are not allowed to enter the city,
But the high-speed rail🚄 is efficient,
Those who come and go, under the banner of watching the Asian Games
Also transported us to the heavenly city of Hangzhou
To appreciate the poetic and picturesque in the fragrant autumn days~
Walking, stopping, and arriving at the Tiger Running Spring
The three old osmanthus trees at Dicuixuan,
Withered and thin branches, like an umbrella, also cover the time
A strong sweet breath in the nose,
Mother said, it's the unique sweetness of old osmanthus~
Looking up at the vague place, the gradually fading figure of Master Hongyi
There is more tranquil Zen in the lungs...

🎈Tips
1, Hupao water is weakly acidic and high in mineral content. You can bring your own bottle to collect spring water, which is free. It is not recommended to drink it raw. I heard that the spring water from Hupao is great for making tea.
2, Next to Hupao there are Hangzhou Zoo, Children's Park, Liuhe Tower, etc., which can be arranged for a day trip, not too far away.
3, From Hupao, you can also hike up to Guiren Pavilion, heading towards Liuhe Tower or Manjuelong.

Hangzhou Autumn | Really fell in love with the atmosphere of Tiger Run!!
| Really fell in love with the atmosphere of Tiger Run!! Hangzhou Autumn | Really fell in love with the atmosphere of Tiger Run!!
This week I came to Tiger Run twice in the early morning. There are very few people in Tiger Run.
The most are uncles and aunts queuing up to fetch spring water. I wander around alone looking for a good spot. When I'm tired, I watch the fish in the pond leisurely swimming. As time goes by,
The autumn of Tiger Run is also coming to an end. If you want to find a quieter place to stroll, go to Tiger Run to see the late autumn of this year~

As a local, let me tell you about the maple viewing method in Tiger Run Park.
Tiger Run Park is one of the few parks in Hangzhou that charge fees. Although it is a place that charges, its value is very high. The park is not big, but it condenses a large area of Metasequoia forest, streams and other natural landscapes, as well as stone carvings, Guanyin Hall, and the remains of Master Hongyi and other cultural landscapes. Every autumn, from the Metasequoia forest to the maple leaves, the colors are dazzling, full of oxygen ions, quiet and comfortable, making people linger.
For locals, the recommended way to enjoy red leaves is lazy, effortless and interesting:
First of all, you must drive early. The door opens at 07:00 in the morning, it's not long before dawn, the light on the Metasequoia side is average, and you can walk in first. After visiting Guanyin Hall, there is Tyndall light, which can be returned. At this time, you can see the red maple shining through the light at the mountain gate. Then go to the pond near the Memorial Hall of Master Hongyi to take pictures of yellow maple leaves and red carp. All the way back to the door, at this time, Tiger Run Path and Metasequoia begin to have light and shadow sprinkled down. Parking is free.
In addition, drive navigation to the ticket office of Tiger Run Park, you can turn around where there are no ice cream cones and dashed lines in the middle of Tiger Run Road. Return to the city along Shuangfeng Road towards Jiulison, and then along Beishan Road back to the city. The whole journey is unobstructed, with beautiful lakes and mountains along the way, and the scenery is intoxicating.

Hangzhou Tiger Run Spring is the first spring of the West Lake Zhuquan. Along with Longjing Spring, it is the third best spring in the world. Hu Runquan is located in the Xiahui Temple, Baihefeng, Dacishan, which is to the Southwest of Hangzhou, Zhejiang. The source of this spring is legendary. According to the legend, in the Tang Dynasty, one of the sorghums arrived in the area and found that the scenery was so beautiful, it made the heart happy. However, there was no water source nearby. Although Gao Xi was reluctant, he felt that he had to move to another area. Before he moved, a fairy appeared to him and told him that spring water would be brought to him by two tigers. The next day, it happened exactly as the fairy had told him. This is why it is also called Tiger Run Spring. The waters of the spring are clean and clear and taste very sweet. When you visit the area, you should sample the tea made with the West Lake Lonjing waters.
