Famous Haenggung Palace in Suwon
#fallingforfall
Hwaseong Haenggung Palace is located in Suwon City. How to
Get Here: Take the Line 1 subway line to get off at Suwon Station and then take bus 60 to get there in 15 minutes.
What's special about this place: It's the second palace after the main palace in Seoul. The king uses this palace in his travels or visits. That's why you can see old korean houses, king's place or many similar structures inside.
The wish tree is one of the reasons that makes this place special. After you write the message you want to come true on paper, you can hang it on the tree.
When to go: Autumn time is the best time to visit. You can see the red, yellow and other colors of the trees. In addition, this palace is surrounded by castle walls, you can take a walk in these walls. There are many places to eat and drink outside the palace.

This UNESCO world heritage site is about an hour and a half south of Seoul. I did this on my own. You can take the metro to Suwon station and then take a bus. Check with the tourist information office at Suwon station for details of the bus if you are confused. You need atleast half a day to do justice to this attraction. Entry ticket to the palace is 1,500 Korean won. There is a lot of walking and steep climbs, so be prepared. Don't miss the delicious dumplings sold in tiny restaurants in Suwon. On the way back I entered the food hall at Suwon station, a haven for yummy Korean food.

Red Roof: A Must-Visit Restaurant in Haengnidan-gil After Touring Hwaseong Haenggung
Red Roof is a must-visit restaurant in Haengnidan-gil, known for its long waiting lines! After touring Hwaseong Haenggung, this outdoor dining spot is a perfect place to stop by. It's famous for its single menu item: frozen pork belly (naengsam). Despite having only one menu item, its popularity is proven by the long waiting lines, thanks to its incredible taste🩷.
The savory naengsam is grilled over charcoal until it's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, making it a truly exceptional dish. Especially in the current cool weather, enjoying naengsam in the outdoor seating area is simply the best! The fun of grilling pork belly while feeling the breeze is a unique experience you can't find in any other BBQ restaurant.
There's also a perfect side dish to enjoy with it: ✨Yeolmu Noodles✨. The spicy and refreshing yeolmu noodles perfectly complement the rich taste of naengsam, creating a fantastic combination. Taking a bite of crispy pork belly followed by a mouthful of yeolmu noodles will make you fall in love with the harmonious flavors.
For enjoying naengsam and yeolmu noodles in this weather, Red Roof is the place to be. If you want to experience special flavors and ambiance, make sure to visit this spot!

Suwon Palace
#koreatrip cultural tour in Suwon. This palace is super huge that I couldn't find my friend when we were here together. Unlike other palaces, here I can find more information on how it's like during old dynasty days. There is simulation with information board. Aside from that, you can also find miniatures of this place. I spent hours over here despite of super cold weather (-4° celcius with super strong wind, my hot americano turn into ice americano within few minutes!)
Address: 825 Jeongjo-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
To get here you can either take train to Suwon and bus or just take train and walk.

South Korea also has an "ancient city," with a World Intangible Heritage site in Suwon
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is actually an ancient city, where parts of the city wall and several gates are still preserved to this day. One of the core attractions is the Hwaseong Haenggung Palace.
It is also one of the must-visit spots in Suwon.
It's very close to walk from the fried chicken street, and you can get there on foot.
There are two ways to visit: one is to buy a separate ticket to tour the palace, and the other is to take a sightseeing car to visit the entire city wall, Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, Yeonmudae, and so on. I chose the first option. The ticket is very cheap, and you can go straight in for the tour after purchasing it.
In terms of history, Korea doesn't have much to compete with China. The palace is almost entirely in Chinese characters, and the area is not very large. For us, it basically takes half an hour to finish the tour, and there aren't many cultural relics.
It's worth mentioning that this is also the filming location for the TV drama 'Dae Jang Geum,' so consider it a check-in for Korean drama fans.
