Ihwa 🎨🖼️🖌️👩🎨
This was my eight trip to South Korea since 2006 when I came here first time as a backpacker, fell instantly in love with the country, the food and the people. Therefore I have come back regularly over the years to visit friends that I have come to know in Norway or China. However, it was my first time to visit Ihwa. We walked from Anguk and easily found the starting point of the village that is located on a hill. We did not have to walk far before we saw some of the murals that we were looking for 👀 we did a quite steep walk uphill and found a perfect little bar with a garden to share some wine before walking down the hill and on to the next adventure. The mural village is in the midst of a residential area so we could see a lot of elders hanging out on the street corners and benches around.

Moon Village • Ihwa Mural Village
Mt.Naksan in Seoul is home to one of the most popular mountainside mural villages in Korea. Ihwa Mural Village is known as a moon village or “daldongne” due to being set on the hillside which means you should be prepared for a bit of a hike up to see this famous village and the views of the surrounding Seoul from this village.
There are many stairs and steep slope so do visit with a comfortable pair of shoes!
There are some great murals in the area and art installations and it does make for a lovely place to walk around to get views of the city below.
Guidelines to consider while in a mural village:
• Remember this is a residential living neighbourhood and be respectful of the property
• Do not walk into doorways or gates unless there is an explicit sign directing you to do so.
• Considering it’s a living neighbourhood, treat it like yours. Do not yell or scream or make noise above normal conversation level.
• Do not throw trash onto the ground. If you can’t find a trash bin, keep the trash until you do so.
Getting There - Hyehwa Station (line 4,exit2) walk straight and you will see an information centre ahead for the detailed map and mural paintings at the various location of the village.

Here we go!
A peaceful stroll 🚶🏼♀️
Take a peaceful walk through the neighborhood, looking at all the murals in Ihwa Mural Village. There are many cafes and shops for you to stop by on your way up or down but reminder that Tuesdays most are closed for day of rest. There is also a sky garden located at the top of the village amongst the cafes, stores and homes. When we reached the top we opted to walk down alongside the Seoul city wall. You can also choose to go back down a different route of the village. #southkorea #newyearadventure #seoul #streetart

Park, not far from the bustling Daehangno neighbourhood, Ihwa Mural Village offers stunning views of Seoul. In 2006, the local Public Art Committee invited artists to paint murals and create sculptures in the village as a way to improve the quality of life there. As a result the village has become a charming, colorful part of the city, featuring museums, restaurants and cafes catering to visitors. #wintergetaway

Seoul small travel destination: Pear Blossom Cave Mural Village
came to Seoul many times, but for the first time here. Mural Village is located in the area of Ewha-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It used to be a well-known shantytown in Seoul. Later, the city government invited more than 70 artists to paint murals. The image of the shantytown has been greatly improved, and it has even become a lot of Korean dramas. The location, such as: "House Tower Wang Shizi", "Ghosts", "We are married", "Two Days and One Night", etc., like a large open-air art museum ~
here to take a photo punch Be sure to wear bright or contrasting clothes, and take different styles of photos.

What a lovely day to visit Ihwa Mural Village in Seoul
Paul Ivan.
In the downtown area of Seoul, when the pear flower mural village was reached, the sun slowly tilted to the west and sent us a warm afternoon. My only understanding of the pear flower mural village was the ladder with two fish. But before I came, I heard that it was painted off. With curiosity, let me take a look at this famous village.
There are many teenagers wearing the same uniform and taking a selfie in front of a mural. An aunt's clothes and murals on the wall are really right! I really appreciate the ubiquitous aesthetic feelings of Koreans. They like to arrange small scenes and make the villages lively. The girls and the teenagers are still taking a lot of self-portraits. I don't understand why they all wear the same uniform, obviously in COS. Sure enough, on a low wall, I saw a Korean drama.

One of my favourite places I visited here! So many cool pieces of art and plenty of opportunities to take photos. Give yourself time and freedom to explore the little alleyways and notice all the details!
It took about 15 minutes to walk from the nearest station, Hyehwa Station. It was mostly uphill from the middle of the walk, so it would be quite tough for those who don't exercise regularly. I went there around 10am, and there were only two groups of tourists and some locals, so it was quiet. I worked up a lot of sweat and it was a good workout.

The Fairy Tale Town Surrounded by Murals—Ehwa Mural Village
Ehwa Mural Village is located in the Ihwa-dong area of Jongno District, Seoul. It is a distinctive street and has become well-known for its frequent appearances in Korean dramas. Fans of Korean dramas should not miss out on Ehwa Village, which has been the filming location for many series, and is commonly referred to by locals as the 'Art Village'.
It is said that Ehwa Mural Village (이화벽화마을) used to be a poor hillside village. Later, the Seoul city government brought in more than 70 artists to decorate the area, resulting in the beautiful murals we see today—including the Ehwa Stairs. The village is located on the east side of Naksan Park and is built along the hillside. The steps going up and down, as well as the walls beside them, are adorned with various patterns painted by artists. You will see the chibi version of the Avengers at the entrance, stairs scattered with flowers, and a 'puppy' peeking out from the walls of the houses. The mural stairs were even featured in the Korean idol drama 'Rooftop Prince', where the crown prince himself visited.

Ihwa Mural Village, a Beautiful Photo Spot.
I visited several beautiful spots to take photos and videos on my trip to Seoul, and of course, I couldn't miss the Ihwa Mural Village to appreciate the gorgeous murals. Simply put, every shot here is beautiful. Actually, there's a park nearby, but this time, since I was accompanied by the elderly, we didn't go there due to the numerous slopes in the park. I'll definitely check it out next time.

Seoul's hot check-in spot, Lee Hwa Dong Mural Village, is a popular filming location for Korean dramas
Lee Hwa Dong Mural Village
Jongno-gu, Lee Hwa Dong, Lok Shan 4 Street 49
15 minutes walk from Exit 2 of Huihua Station on Line 4, free admission
Originally a rundown hillside residential area, in 2006, more than 70 artists
participated in a city project called 'Art in City'. Through graffiti murals, the village was revitalized and attracted a large number of tourists!
Many TV dramas and variety shows also filmed here: 'Rooftop Prince', 'We Got Married', 'Runningman', 'This Life is First', 'Two Days and One Night'...
Compared to the first visit, the number of tourists has significantly reduced this time, probably due to the strong protests from the residents who can't stand the disturbance in recent years. In addition to the scattered opposition slogans, many murals have been vandalized and cleaned, among which the most famous is the Flower Staircase~
It's such a pity!
I hope that the development of tourism here can balance with the residents' lives, and I wish this art village can continue!
Tour suggestions
A casual shot is an ins style! The popular angel wings are a must!
There are many uphill roads and steps here, it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and clothes~ If you bring a baby, it is not recommended to bring a stroller, it is better to hold the baby!
It is best to go before 10 am, when the sun is just right!
It is recommended to wear simple and less colorful clothes, which is just right with the colorful murals

Seoul's most fairytale-like check-in spot.
Ewha Mural Painting Village 🏘
This is a popular check-in street in Seoul, but it feels quite ordinary when walking 🚶. It takes about ⌚️15-25 minutes to climb the mountain, and you can take photos 📷 while walking. There are many restaurants 🍴 and cafes ☕️ on the top. You can go in and sit 🪑.
📍Detailed address:
Ewha Mural Painting Village is located in Lihua-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
💰Cost:
Free, free, free.
🚇Transportation:
Take Metro Line 4 to Huihua Station, exit from Exit 2 and go straight ➡️. At the first intersection, there is a sign🔜. Walk towards Luoshan Park🚶, turn left at the main entrance of the park⤴️, and walk along the road for about ⌚️15 minutes to reach the destination.
⏰Suggested duration of visit:
1-2 hours, half a day is also possible...
Here is known for its reputation as one of the "🌍world's most beautiful staircases" on par with Valparaiso, Chile. This village was originally unremarkable and even impoverished, but after careful decoration with the brightest colors, it has been transformed and presented in a new light.
Attention ⚠️, this is actually a residential area 🏘️, and many of the more special murals have been wiped off 🧽 (such as the koi fish 🐟 on the steps). It is estimated that residents feel that tourists are too noisy, so they have all been wiped off to avoid too many people coming and going ↕️. Anyway, it's still very interesting, much more interesting than shopping in Seoul!
🌅The best time for lighting is between 9-10am in the morning, and there are fewer people. It is recommended to come early. The streets here are all small alleys, and the effect of taking photos with or without sunlight☀️ will be very different.
As the mural village and murals are colorful, it is recommended to wear single-colored or solid-colored clothes.
📝tips:
In the village, there is food 🌮, but I think it's more style than substance, so I don't recommend dining here 🍴. The entire visit can take two to three hours, as it is also structured like a small mountain village and the uphill and downhill roads need to be considered. It is recommended to spend a morning here for a stroll, and then go down the mountain for lunch...

Pear mural village
pear flower mural village, as the name suggests, are murals, it feels like a special art zone.
Transport
Metro Line 4 to Huihua Station (), get off at Exit 2 and go straight. There is a sign at the first intersection. Follow the direction of Luoshan Park and go to the main entrance of the park. Turn, walk along the road for about 15 minutes to see
no tickets.
From the beginning, I saw a variety of murals, and the whole village was very artistic.
Up and down slopes, cross paths, easy to get lost, but just go around, here is a look around to take pictures.
However, it is said that tourists have affected the lives of local residents too much, and many murals have been removed. Its going to be early.

Located in the hills of Luoshan Park, Lihua Village used to be the moon village of the poor class. Because of the high terrain, the short, sloping, rickety old house seems to reach the moon, hence the name Moon Village. In 2006, the South Korean government convened 68 artists to paint here.
Colorful and lively murals infused new vitality into the village of Ewha, and the dilapidated slum turned into a romantic one. "Moon City" has become a filming of the Korean entertainment program "2 Days and 1 Night" and the popular Korean TV series "House Tower Wang Shizi".

I heard that the famous flower-filled ladder in the mural village was eradicated. Sorry, the more rigorous statement is that the ladder is still there, but the flower pattern on the stairs is removed. ~
Companion Why is such a beautiful ladder destroyed? I think its probably because there are too many tourists and it will disturb the people. This is a bit ironic because of the reasons for building it. In order to improve the economy and life of the residents near Ewha Village, I started to live in this high and low residential area. Painting on the walls, the quiet residential areas are so high and low, the colorful murals are full of fun, attracting a large number of tourists, becoming a place for travel in Seoul. Then, a large number of tourists who are not good or bad will finally stay in the night. The residents here are annoyed, even because of the confinement of the photos, then the once iconic flowers and goldfish steps disappeared, only the outline of the pattern was looming~
there is no sign, in fact, it is more safe. ~

The Ewha Cave Cave Mural Village is a very distinctive street and has been well known in Korean dramas. Koreans commonly call this an art village. "Walk House Wang Shizi" "KING2HEART" "Ghost" and so on are all here. The
pear flower mural village is indeed a romantic place to go, and there is an urge to kiss everywhere. Stone-brick alleys, colorful mural walls, everywhere scented the simple first love, and escaped from the city's shackles, have a quiet, let the body and mind bathe in a pure artistic atmosphere.
Tips
Take Subway Line 4, exit at Exit 2 of Hyehwa Station, and walk 3 to 5 minutes after entering the adjacent Hutong Road on the left side of Seoul Elementary University. I went to the pear flower mural village.
