Colours of Baemsangol at Jirisan during Fall
It is an annual event of autumn again, and this autumn will not be complete without the viewing of colours and foliages. This time we visited the famous Jirisan located in the middle of Korea, towards the south side. The forecast is pretty accurate as we could see the fiery reds, orange and yellow leaves turned from green. Jirisan spans a huge area across several provinces so we visited a valley called Baemsangol. The valley with a river spans around 2km before reaching the end of the pedestrian way. It is said that there are still bears living in Jirisan as their habitat called "bandal" which means half moon. Peak foliage typically lasts from 28th Oct till 5th Nov, so be sure to catch the date to visit there.

Old pine village guardian tree, Waun Village
Deep inside the village located within the scenic Jirisan area, there lies a village calls Waun village, which means the cloud that lies within. It is a petite village overlooking the river valley of Jirisan. There is a Pine tree which is more than a thousand years old believed to be the guardian deity of the village, measuring 20m in height and 6 m in width. There will be a celebration on the 3rd year of Lunar New Year to pay respects to this deity.
This pine tree is located at the slopes of the village, and there is another similar tree next to it but is several hundred years old. Both are called grandmother and grandfather tree due to their age.
