A great cultural experience for us as foreign visitors.
Pictures are of our box seats and from our box seats. No pictures allowed once the show begins, though.
The theater and the overall atmosphere, acting, costumes, etc. are fascinating and exquisite. The problem for a non-Japanese speaker will depend on what’s showing. Some plays are two or even three hours long, and comprised of mostly dialogue.

We very much enjoyed our drama performance. We purchased a single act ticket and the event was only 38 minutes long: probably enough of you don't speak Japanese. The theater provided a brief summary of the scene and there are audio guides available in English, which I did not try. Went on a whim while in Ginza. We bought tickets for the 30 mins dancing show. It was totally worth it! The receptions were very polite and welcoming, the music, dance and costumes are exquisite, super well made show!
Glad I did. Highy Recommended.

Highly recommend you experience this unique aspect of Japanese culture - Very talented actors\singers\dancers and wonderfully set stage. We could follow audio in English but still easy to figure from actors' inflections and actions. Single act available if you don't have four hours to stay. Kabuki is ran for ~1.5 hours then a 35-minute intermission which is cycled twice. Thought the theatre would be packed since first class tickets sold out online but there were many empty seats.
