Kawa-Kawa River Cruise!
The Kawa Kawa River cruise was an amazing experience for me. During the day, I saw probiscus monkeys swinging from tree to tree. Not easy to spot them though, took us an hour trying to search between the trees.
After a steamboat seafood dinner at a riverside restaurant, we board on the ferry again, and watched fireflies. Again, it took us some time to spot the fireflies in the dark, but managed to see some. Our cameras couldnt capture any fireflies cause of their subtle blinkings.
I love the peacefulness of the river and the beauty of the fireflies. It created a serene atmosphere that I'll never forget.
The guide, Ms Angie was really knowledgeable and shared interesting facts about the monkeys and fireflies. She even brought a monkey book! She made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, the Kawa Kawa River cruise was an educational trip. If you love nature and wildlife, I highly recommend it. It's a magical journey that you won't want to miss.

Kawa mangroves, one of the three mangroves in Kota Kinabalu. Take a safe long tail boat and swim in the mangrove rainforest
The mangrove forest in Sabah is known as the largest mangrove forest in Asia. It is not the color of trees, but it belongs to the mangrove family, so it is called the mangrove forest. Proboscis monkeys, of course, have a very big nose. The older the monkey, the bigger the nose, and it is bright red. In addition, they also have the characteristics of golden hair and belly drums, usually come out around dusk.
On the speedboat, the boatman will drive into the mangroves. Proboscis monkeys are shy and temperamental. So during this time we only saw 8-10 monkeys on the boat. As soon as you see the monkey boatman, you will dock the boat and show it to everyone. The monkey does not cover the face with leaves, but the butt is sitting against the tree on us. The camera is difficult to shoot.
It takes about an hour to watch the proboscis monkey, return to dinner at around 7 o'clock, and then take a speedboat to find fireflies again after a simple dinner. The two sides of the strait are dark and quiet, and the night sky is starry, feeling so close to me. Suddenly, you will find a flash of light on the tree, like a little starlight in the night, I don't know how to describe it. The boatman took the boat closer and took out a flashlight to make green light. It is said that the fireflies are very sensitive to green light. After a while, the fireflies flew to the side of the boat and reached out. To a few. I tried to take a photo, but I couldn't shoot anything.
In most people's memories, fireflies are just good memories of childhood. The reason why people marvel at the beauty of fireflies is not entirely because of how beautiful it is, but because of a pure complex in the heart.
Kawa Mangrove is one of the three mangroves in Sabah and is famous for its tidal flats. Visiting the mangroves, you can not only see the beautiful beaches, but also the proboscis monkeys and fireflies.
While you want to see proboscis monkeys and fireflies in the mangroves, boating is the only way. As we walked towards the mangroves, the more the proboscis monkeys were, the more we watched the naughty little guys screaming in the jungle, taking a closer look, some crawling on the trunk to eat, some Jumping from one end of the tree to the other, it is very interesting to play together and play together.
Continue to go forward, close to the sunset time in Sabah, we gradually see the little guys hiding in the jungle, flashing a faint light, the crew will attract them with special lamps. The fireflies fluttered in our palms, flashing and flashing around us! It turns out that there are really fireflies in this world!
Tips: The camera can't use the flash. All the screens of the electronic devices should also be turned off, so it's just a few spots, so you still need to see them.
Traffic Raiders: Going to Kawa Mangroves, it is necessary to charter or carpool from Kota Kinabalu City. It is recommended that you can report a group tour on Trip, which is more convenient and convenient.
