Kinkaku-ji: Kyoto’s Iconic Golden Pavilion 🏯✨
#goingplaces
Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is one of Kyoto's most famous and stunning landmarks. Originally built in 1397 as a retirement villa for the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, it was later converted into a Zen Buddhist temple. The pavilion’s top two floors are covered in gold leaf, creating a spectacular reflection on the pond, especially during sunrise and sunset when it glistens in the surrounding gardens.
🚊Getting There:
Kinkaku-ji is easily accessible by bus from Kyoto Station (Bus 101 or 205). The site is located in northern Kyoto, close to other notable temples like Ryoan-ji.

Japan solo travel for 18 days Day 10 Kyoto
#Itinerary sharing #beaches #KYOTO #Nishiki Market #Kinkakuji #OKAZAKISHINJA #OMIGINSHRIJI
Looking back on my 18-day solo trip to Japan in 2022 when the epidemic was just lifted
Get on the bus from Hankyu Umeda Station and get off at Karasuma Station. First go to Nishiki Market for brunch. After that, take the bus to Okazaki Shrine, take the bus to Kinkakuji Temple, take the bus to Okane Shrine, and finally walk back to Hankyu Electric Railway Return to Osaka.
Okazaki Shrine and Kinkakuji Temple are attractions that I didn’t have time to visit when I came to Kyoto many years ago. This time I want to make up for the regret! !
【Nishiki Market】
There are not many people and it is very comfortable to walk around. You can eat a lot of delicious food here. We ate a lot, including croquettes, eels, grilled seafood, strawberry daifuku, grilled shrimps, tamagoyaki, strawberry milkshakes and ice cream. We also bought I ordered small pastries similar to chicken cakes to eat on the road. When I look back at these actual photos, when I see the grilled seafood, I think it’s very salty! !
【Okazaki Shrine】
The shrine's divine envoy is a rabbit, so there are rabbit statues, so it has a special name "Rabbit Shrine". It is said that it is very effective in praying for marriage, safe delivery and pregnancy. The lottery is in the shape of a rabbit. Of course, you should buy one and take it home.
【Kinkakuji Temple】
The official name is "Luyuan Temple", and the ticket is very special with a blessing seal printed on it. The Kinkakuji Temple is really breathtakingly beautiful. The way the glittering golden relic hall is reflected in Jinghu Pond is really beautiful. I hope to have the opportunity to see the Kinkakuji Temple covered with snow when it snows in the future.
【Gogan Shrine】
It is located in an alley, quite small. When I went there, almost all the people were locals. The torii gate at the door was really shining with gold. After paying homage, I bought a small guardian.

Kinkaku-ji/200,000 Gold Leaf Covered Hall.
Kinkaku-ji was originally the Kitayama Palace, rebuilt by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1397. After his death, it was converted into a Zen Buddhist temple according to his wishes and named Rokuon-ji after his posthumous name.
Rokuon-ji is commonly known as Kinkaku-ji due to the fame of the Golden Pavilion. The pavilion is three stories high, with the top two stories covered in 200,000 gold leaf pieces, giving it a dazzling appearance! It has been destroyed twice, once by arson committed by a monk, and was rebuilt in 1955.
The reflection of the pavilion on the lake is stunning, and the garden design is also worth appreciating. Even on cloudy days, Kinkaku-ji is unforgettable.
At the end of the visit, you can light a candle and make a wish. I drew a 'great fortune' fortune slip for the first time🤣.
Ticket: 500 yen
Visit duration: within 1 hour

#100WaysOfTravel
The Golden Pavilion is, without a doubt, one of the most fascinating and beautiful places I have had the pleasure of visiting. This park stands out not only for its impressive natural beauty but also for the cultural and historical value that surrounds it, making it an essential destination for those seeking an experience beyond the visual.
Captivating Architecture The first thing that catches your attention upon arrival is the magnificent structure of the pavilion, which seems to emerge from the water like a golden masterpiece. Its gleam under the sun reflects the perfect balance between man and nature, creating an atmosphere of serenity and contemplation. The combination of gold and wood in its design showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of traditional architecture, offering a unique insight into local history and art.
There was a 15-minute wait to enter, and the area was slightly crowded, but I still had a good time there. There is one route that leads around the temple and gardens, and it moves at a decent pace. You will have opportunities to admire the beauty of the area and take plenty of pictures. Once you get to the end, there's an area where you can pay to drink some matcha tea and eat a sweet treat while taking some time to rest. This was a great way to finish our trip to the temple.

Journey Through Kyoto: Strolling Through the Timeless River of the Ancient Capital
Upon arriving in Kyoto, first visit Kiyomizu-dera to experience the charm of ancient architecture and enjoy the cityscape of Kyoto. Next, head to Fushimi Inari Taisha and walk through the thousands of torii gates, feeling the mysterious atmosphere. Then, visit Kinkaku-ji to admire the splendid golden pavilion and appreciate the essence of traditional Japanese culture. Finally, savor matcha desserts at a traditional teahouse in Kyoto, immersing yourself in the ancient charm of the city. The entire trip takes about 2-3 days to fully experience the allure of Kyoto.

I never tire of visiting Kyoto, where each season offers a feast for the eyes!
The first time I went to Kyoto was during the maple leaf season. The Kinkaku-ji Temple, the Sagano Scenic Railway, and the Kiyomizu-dera Temple surrounded by a sea of red and green leaves left me in awe of Kyoto!
Last summer, I went to the Kifune Shrine just to try the flowing noodles. Although the line was too long and I didn't get to eat, I enjoyed water fortune-telling and soaked up plenty of negative ions.
This April, I came back to chase the cherry blossoms. Even though they weren't in full bloom, the weather was perfect as I strolled along. I enjoyed the seventy percent bloomed Yoshino cherry trees, a century-old Western-style restaurant, authentic sukiyaki, and more, satisfying both my eyes and taste buds. Indeed, Kyoto is my favorite place, without a doubt!

The Kinkaku-ji from Yukio Mishima's pen
✨Kinkaku-ji is a temple of the Rinzai sect of Shokoku-ji in Kita-ku, Kyoto. The three-story building (reliquary hall) covered with gold foil inside and out is called Kinkaku, and the entire temple including the reliquary hall is called Kinkaku-ji. The prototype of the building that appeared in the anime 'Ikkyu the Wise' is here.
✨This place was once the villa of the third shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and was converted into a Zen temple after his death. In 1950, it was completely burned down by a fire and rebuilt in 1955. In December 1994, Kinkaku-ji was designated as an important historical building in the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
📍Location: 1 Kinkakuji-cho, Kita-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture

‼️If you are departing from Kyoto Station, you can take city buses 101, 102, 204, 205 directly to Kinkakuji-dori, walk for about 5 minutes to the entrance, and use a one-day bus ticket.
✨Practical information:
✅The three-story building of Kinkaku-ji, the first floor is Hosui-in; the second floor is Cho-on-do, which enshrines Kannon; the third floor is a square Buddha hall, which enshrines three Amitabha Buddhas.
✅The architecture of Kinkaku-ji is integrated with the garden structure. The mirror pond in front of the reliquary hall has clear water, and the dazzling Kinkaku reflected in the mirror pond is very beautiful.
✅The ticket of Kinkaku-ji is very special, it is a seal with blessing words, which is worth collecting.
✨Tips:
✅It is recommended to visit in the morning or evening, when there are relatively few people and the experience will be better.
✅There is matcha ice cream for sale at the entrance, which is delicious, but cannot be brought into the temple.

Ikkyu brother practiced in Kinkaku-ji
📍Location: Kinkaku-ji (Kinkaku-ji)
Kinkaku-ji in Kyoto, Japan, the scenery along the way is very beautiful. As a famous tourist attraction in Japan, Kinkaku-ji has always been a hot destination in my heart.
This tourist attraction where Chinese tourists gather. There is a long line at the entrance of Kinkaku-ji, but everyone is very orderly, all waiting patiently for the reception of the staff at the tourist center.
Entering the gate of Kinkaku-ji, a mysterious atmosphere comes oncoming, which makes me feel very shocked. The architecture in the temple is antique and full of historical sense, the most eye-catching of which is the Golden Pavilion.
The Golden Pavilion is really very beautiful, especially after the recent replacement of the new roof, it is even more shining, like a shining pearl hanging in the sky. The gold color presented by the Golden Pavilion gives people a mysterious and ancient atmosphere. In modern society, this kind of atmosphere is rare.
The interior decoration of the Golden Pavilion is also very particular, bright and clean, full of a calm atmosphere. Walking in every corner of the Golden Pavilion, you can feel an indescribable beauty.
When you come to Kinkaku-ji, you must not miss the beautiful scenery in the temple, especially the Wuyan Welcome Hall, which is a very suitable place for taking pictures. Standing here, you can appreciate the Golden Pavilion and the historic buildings, and you can also leave your beautiful image here.
In short, I highly recommend everyone to come to Kinkaku-ji, experience the mysterious atmosphere here, feel the historical charm here, it will definitely not disappoint you!

Kinkakuji Temple
Kinkakuji/Golden Pavilion) is a Zen temple in northern Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf.
Kinkakuji is an impressive structure built overlooking a large pond, and is the only building left of Yoshimitsu's former retirement complex. It has burned down numerous times throughout its history including twice during the Onin War, a civil war that destroyed much of Kyoto; and once again more recently in 1950 when it was set on fire by a fanatic monk. The present structure was rebuilt in 1955.
Getting there and around
Kinkakuji can be accessed from Kyoto Station by direct Kyoto City Bus number 205 in about 40 minutes and for 230 yen. Alternatively, it can be faster and more reliable to take the Karasuma Subway Line to Kitaoji Station (15 minutes, 260 yen) and a taxi (10 minutes, about 1300 yen) or bus (10 minutes, 230 yen, bus numbers 204 or 205) from there to Kinkakuji.

Ginkakuji (銀閣寺, Silver Pavilion) is a Zen temple along Kyoto's eastern mountains (Higashiyama). In 1482, shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa built his retirement villa on the grounds of today's temple, modeled after Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion), his grandfather's retirement villa at the base of Kyoto's northern mountains (Kitayama). The villa was converted into a Zen temple after Yoshimasa's death in 1490.

Recommended cherry blossom viewing spots among the scenic spots 🌸
In the blink of an eye, it's the annual cherry blossom season again 🌸 Based on my personal experience of cherry blossom viewing over the years, I recommend 5⃣️ cherry blossom viewing spots to everyone ✨ They should be the best of the best 👍
🖼️Picture 1⃣️: Haradani-en near Kinkaku-ji Temple in Kyoto.
This is a place that is only open during cherry blossom season every year. There are various types of cherry blossom trees planted in the garden, and when they are in full bloom during cherry blossom season, the sky here turns pink and cherry blossom petals float in the air. Sitting under a cherry blossom tree and enjoying a special cherry blossom bento box is a unique moment for the people of Kyoto to appreciate the cherry blossoms.
Transportation: Take Kyoto City Bus M1 and get off at the front of Haratani Agricultural Cooperative.
Tickets: Prices vary depending on the blooming situation, with adult tickets starting at 1200 Japanese yen and children's tickets starting at 500 Japanese yen (blooming from late March to early April 🌸).
Image 2⃣️: Kasumigaike Park near Osaka Castle.
Take the Nansha tram to Jingang Station (take the express), get off and walk for about 10 minutes, then you can arrive. Walk along the pool, there is a row of fully blooming cherry blossoms, and then you can walk to a cherry blossom tunnel, which is very suitable for taking pictures. On the way back by tram, there is a row of cherry blossoms along one side of the track, which is very beautiful‼️
Cost, free park (blooming from late March to early April 🌸)
📷3️⃣️ Purple clouds over the mountains of Seto Inland Sea.
Ziyun Mountain was selected by Yahoo as one of the top 15 cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan. In January 2019, the islands of the Seto Inland Sea were ranked 7th on The New York Times' list of 52 places to go in 2019, with Ziyun Mountain as the main attraction.
The most attractive charm of Ziyun Mountain is the beautiful backdrop of the Seto Inland Sea with its many islands, combined with flowers blooming in different seasons, such as the pink cherry blossoms that cover the mountains in spring, the daffodils on the slopes, and the huge hydrangeas in summer. Although it is not the season for flowers in autumn and winter, the clear air and the unique beauty of the Seto Inland Sea, which is as calm as an ink painting, and the small islands dotted on the sea surface, bring travelers a different charming experience‼️
📷4️⃣️ Takarazuka's cherry blossom viewing spot, Shuraku-en
This time, we will introduce the "Cherry Blossom Tunnel" on the Takarazuka cherry blossom viewing walking route.
This is a walking route from the Minami-Bunka station in Takarazuka, located in a quiet residential area called Jorakuso, where there are few people even during the cherry blossom season. 👌
On both sides of the road are cherry blossom trees, and during the season of cherry blossom blooming, it's like a cherry blossom tunnel! Get off at Hankyu Dentetsu Imazu Line Takarazuka Minami-guchi Station and walk for about 12 minutes ‼️
📷5⃣️The ruins of Fujiwara Palace in Nara
The only place in the Kansai region where you can enjoy both rapeseed flowers and cherry blossoms at the same time 🌸 is located in Kashihara City, Nara. It is divided into different areas, each planting plants that bloom according to the season, such as rapeseed flowers in spring, lotus flowers in summer, and chrysanthemums in autumn...etc. The most recommended view is the combination of rapeseed flowers and cherry blossoms‼️
Transportation: About a 30-minute walk from JR "Ubobo" station.

Beautiful Golden Pavilion 🍁🍂
Kinkaku-Ji is a Buddhist temple located in Kyoto, Japan. It is listed as one of the World Heritage Sites.
It's so beautiful and magical covered in gold-plated leaf coating.
According to history, the building was originally a villa that was converted into a temple. The present building is not the original one. It was rebuilt after being burned down in 1950. The gold color itself means to purify the bad and negative feeling and thought.
The quiet pond is like a mirror that reflects the temple perfectly. It’s autumn, leaves are turning into beautiful colors. The Golden Temple, quiet pond, surrounded by colorful leaves. It's calming, it's perfect. I was blessed to be there.

Kinkakuji, a.k.a. Golden Pavilion, is a must-visit iconic landmark when you are in Kyoto. This Zen temple has two top floors that are covered in gold leaf. In autumn, the temple sparkles beautifully when the tree leaves in its surroundings turn to gold. I was #fallingforfall and experienced lovely autumn to remember.
Kinkakuji can be accessed by train and bus. I went to this stunning temple with friends by taking Subway Line to Kitaoji Station, then continued by bus number 102 to Kinkakuji. As a tourist, It was not difficult for us to find the place as the public transport information was clear and available everywhere.
The temple opens every day from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM, costing around 400 yen entrance fee per person.

Kinkaku-ji Temple
Kinkaku-ji Temple is probably the most famous and visited place in the city of Kyoto. This place is not located in down town, however It can be reached easily by taxi or public transport.
The recommended sightseeing time is between one to two hours. The place is very well maintained, clean and beautiful ornate buildings. Honestly, the golden pavilion it was what I was looking for seeing in person as it looks so fantastic in all the pics I saw about this place.
Come early because its gets very crowded later in the day. Entrance fee is not expensive at all and it is good value for the money. Totally worthy.

A Key Heritage Site in Kyoto - Kinkaku-ji
#createwithtrip to Kyoto is incomplete if you do not visit Kinkaku-ji, Temple of the Golden Pavilion. Located within the grounds is a very popular building - Shari-den Kinkaku, the actual Golden Pavilion.
This building is best viewed and photographed from across the lake. Pre-pandemic, there is always a huge crowd trying to take photos from the popular spot. Thus, best to go early to avoid the huge crowd.
One tip, it’s better to buy the bus day pass vs. buying the subway day pass as buses get closer to most sites. For the key bus routes, recorded announcements in multiple languages are made when the bus approaches key tourist sites.

Its famous Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku)—actually a pagoda made to house the sacred relics of the Buddha—has given this temple the popular name of Kinkaku-ji (“Temple of the Golden Pavilion”), however the official name of this branch temple of the Rinzai-sect Zen temple of Shokoku-ji is Rokuon-ji. The Golden Temple is worth a look but be prepared for a lot of people. I have visited in Summer, Spring and in Autumn and it's been crowded every time. Go early in the day before the bus tours arrive around 10am. The temple itself was burned to the ground in the fifties so what you see is a replica, and it is stunning, as is its position next to the lake. Ginkaku-ji's gardens are also good, although in my opinion not quite as spectacular, in the autumn at least, as those at Ginkaku-ji and several other shrines in the city.
