Half Day Kimono Itinerary (Kyoto)
Wearing a kimono is a beautiful experience. Here’s my suggested itinerary for your comfort, with everything within walking distance: 🌸
We arrived at the Kimono rental shop at 9am for Kimono dressing and hairdo. Makeup is NOT included in the package. Last call to return the Kimono is at 5:30pm. ⚠️
📍Ninenzaka 二年坂 and Sannenzaka 三年坂: These ancient cobblestone streets have thrived since 808 AD. They pay homage to Nene, the wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who climbed these steps in prayer for a healthy child
📍 Yasaka Pagoda 八坂の塔: Built by Prince Shotoku in 589 AD, Yasaka Pagoda was brought to life by a dream-inspired vision.
📍 Kodaiji 高台寺: In 1605, Nene built Kodaiji as a heartfelt tribute to her late husband. ⚠️ Don’t miss the serene bamboo grove that often goes unnoticed by many! ⚠️
📍 Kiyomizu-dera 清水寺: Kiyomizu-dera is known for its iconic wooden terrace, which was built without a single nail. The popular Japanese expresion “To jump off the stage at Kiyomizu”, refers to an Edo-period tradition where brave individuals would leap from the 13-meter high wooden terrace to have their wish granted (IF they survive the fall)!
📍 Yasaka Jinja 八坂神社: Founded over 1350 years ago, Yasaka Jinja is renowned for its summer festival, the Gion Matsuri, celebrated annually in July.

Most celebrated temple of Japan - Kiyomizudera
Kiyomizudera (清水寺, literally "Pure Water Temple") is one of the most celebrated temples of Japan.
It was founded in 780 on the site of the Otowa Waterfall in the wooded hills east of Kyoto and derives its name from the fall's waters.
The temple was originally associated with the Hosso sect, one of the oldest schools within Japanese Buddhism, but formed its own Kita Hosso sect in 1965.
In 1994, the temple was added to the list of World Heritage Sites.

An Afternoon Shower at Kiyomizu-dera: A Serene Journey
The sudden afternoon shower made us linger a bit longer on the Kiyomizu stage. Listening to the rapid raindrops hitting the umbrella and the hurried footsteps of people seeking shelter under the eaves, it felt like a joyful gathering.
At the same time, the air was filled with the fresh scent of soil and damp leaves. The stone steps became slippery, adding a touch of mystery and tranquility to the ancient temple and the surrounding forest. Watching the wooden structure of the distant temple appear and disappear in the rain, we could quietly appreciate this historical sanctuary, as if time had turned back, allowing us to experience the harmony of this land with ancient Zen practitioners.
After the rain cleared, we walked to Otowa Waterfall, where the sound of the spring water became even clearer, as if the raindrops had washed away the dust of the world. The fresh air carried a hint of sweetness, and the spring water flowed gently between the rocks like a soft melody, a pure gift from nature. It is said that drinking this spring water brings health, wisdom, and longevity. At that moment, we took a sip, feeling its coolness and sweetness, and our hearts were filled with tranquility and gratitude.

Experience the rustic charm and happiness of Kyoto at Kiyomizu-dera
Kyoto seems to have a more rustic feel compared to Osaka, with cash-only establishments being more common. Visiting the distinctly Japanese-style Kiyomizu-dera 🏯, the cool breeze and the panoramic view of Kyoto city swept away the fatigue of climbing up. With temples at every step, Fushimi Inari Taisha always brings to mind the image of foxes... 🚶 Randomly walking into a few ramen shops 🍜, I found them to suit my taste better than some Michelin-starred restaurants. I even had the best sukiyaki 🥘 from a century-old restaurant. During the Gion Matsuri, the entire city is immersed in the festive atmosphere, with both locals and foreigners celebrating the grandest festival of the year. It's common to encounter parade teams in the streets, listen to traditional Japanese tunes 🎶, and occasionally see geishas just off work. Strolling along the Kamo River, feeling the cool breeze 🍃, one can completely relax and simply feel a sense of ease and happiness.

I never tire of visiting Kyoto, where each season offers a feast for the eyes!
The first time I went to Kyoto was during the maple leaf season. The Kinkaku-ji Temple, the Sagano Scenic Railway, and the Kiyomizu-dera Temple surrounded by a sea of red and green leaves left me in awe of Kyoto!
Last summer, I went to the Kifune Shrine just to try the flowing noodles. Although the line was too long and I didn't get to eat, I enjoyed water fortune-telling and soaked up plenty of negative ions.
This April, I came back to chase the cherry blossoms. Even though they weren't in full bloom, the weather was perfect as I strolled along. I enjoyed the seventy percent bloomed Yoshino cherry trees, a century-old Western-style restaurant, authentic sukiyaki, and more, satisfying both my eyes and taste buds. Indeed, Kyoto is my favorite place, without a doubt!

Woke up at 4:00 AM to capture the ambiance of cherry blossoms in Kyoto, Japan, which is the ceiling of atmosphere
Some say 'Kyoto is in Japan, but the real Japan is in Kyoto.'
There are many cherry blossoms in Japan, either in clusters or a particularly large one in a courtyard style.
And the most famous among them is the century-old cherry tree at Sanneizaka in Kyoto.
To shoot the blue hour cherry blossom scene, one must wake up early, get up at 4 AM and arrive by 5 AM.
There are hardly any people shooting, most are around Yasaka Pagoda.
The beauty is visible to the naked eye, live photos straight out.
By 6 AM, it starts to get crowded, and by 6:30, it's practically overflowing.
(Kyoto is really competitive! 😭 Many people might not even be up by 6:30!)
-
📍Location: Ninenzaka Sannenzaka, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, 2 Chome Kiyomizu
🎫Admission: Free
Shooting Date: March 29, 2024 (Currently in full bloom, viewing period is 2 weeks)
🚗Transportation: Navigate to 'Myohoyenotei', take bus routes 202, 206, or 207 to Kiyomizu-michi Station
‼️Recommended Route: Ninenzaka Sannenzaka ➡️ Yasaka Pagoda ➡️ Kiyomizu-dera ➡️ Hanami-koji ➡️ Yasaka Shrine
-
◽️Tips:
☑️ Ninenzaka Sannenzaka, Yasaka Tower Kiyomizu-dera, are unique street landscapes of Kyoto.
The shops along the street and the visitors wearing kimonos make you feel as if you've traveled back to the shogunate era.
☑️ The sightseeing route I recommend is along the way, and if you want to see cherry blossoms, you can also go to Kyoto Imperial Palace and Kamo River, which are both in full bloom right now.
☑️Kyoto's cherry blossom season is very crowded, so it's advised to go out early and return early for a much better experience.

A day trip to Tokyo today!!!
Kyoto day trip without taking the wrong path
Route: 1. Kiyomizu-dera 2. Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka 3. Yasaka Shrine
4. Gion Hanami Lane 5. Fushimi Inari Shrine
The first four checkpoints are all together, follow my route and you won't take a detour, after visiting these four, just switch to the subway, bus, or take a taxi to Fushimi Inari Shrine.
Although there are many people in Kyoto, Kyoto is so distinctive, it looks good no matter how you take pictures.
Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka are also the most crowded places in Kyoto, it's better to get there around nine o'clock for photos, as there will be relatively fewer people, and it gets very crowded at noon and in the afternoon.
There are many small alleys in Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka to explore, some alleys are less crowded and look great for photos.
There are also many shops in the scenic area that rent kimonos and offer makeup services, and the costumes make the photos even better.
You can spend a whole morning exploring Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka, and then head to Yasaka Shrine, which I think is just average, right across the street is Gion Hanami Lane.
Fushimi Inari Shrine requires a change of transportation, I suggest spending an afternoon there, because it's big and beautiful, great for taking pictures. You can refer to another one of my notes, which has many pictures of Fushimi Inari Shrine.
Kyoto truly represents Japan today, very characteristic, I hope everyone can take photos to their satisfaction.

The Kiyomizu-dera and Nanzen-ji temples are must-visit spots during the red leaf season
In Kyoto, the red leaf season is divided into particularly bustling places and generally bustling places. Kiyomizu-dera is a particularly bustling place, so it's a must-visit.
Even if there are many people, you can still have your own way of enjoying it. Remember every little detail. The donut coffee breakfast shop on the uphill road, the view of Kyoto city from the observation deck, taking photos of the three-story pagoda under the sunlight from various angles, buying all kinds of amulets, queuing for the Three Holy Waters, sitting in the tea room at the exit to have tea and small dumplings, visiting the bustling Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka, checking in at the popular tea shop Yun no Cha, and tasting the eel rice that I love from Kamado.
Nanzen-ji is also worth visiting. It seems that I ran into a celebrity at the Hojo Pavilion, which is a common occurrence in Kyoto at this time.

Kyoto Travel is Truly Worth It!❗❗3 Days and 2 Nights Itinerary
If you're planning a second trip to Japan, Kyoto is a must-visit city!
🗺 Itinerary:
3 days is ideal to explore Kyoto thoroughly.
Day 1⃣: Experience Kimono (9:00) — Kiyomizu-dera — Ninen-zaka/Sannen-zaka — Gion — Hanamikoji — Return Kimono at 17:30 — Yasaka Shrine for Night View (These places are close, feel free to adjust based on your preferences)
Day 2⃣: Morning: Fushimi Inari Taisha (Direct JR/Hankyu Line)
Afternoon: Kinkaku-ji / Picnic by the Kamo River
Evening: Relax and wait for sunset along the Kamo River (Navigate to Sanjo Station, the most beautiful section of the Kamo River is there) Night: Nishiki Market / Dinner near the Kamo River
Day 3⃣: Option 1: Kifune Shrine — Ryoan-ji — Sanzen-in
Option 2: Arashiyama (Both routes are quite far, dedicate a whole day, choose one)
🚇 Transportation:
Other Cities to Kyoto: Recommend taking JR, fast and cheaper than Shinkansen
Local Transportation in Kyoto: Two types of one-day passes available (details on p15)
Suggest buying the 700 yen bus one-day pass, especially useful for Day 1's route. Be cautious about the 1100 yen subway + bus pass; JR and Hankyu lines are not covered, and it doesn't work for Fushimi Inari Taisha!! Stick to the red and green subway lines.
🏨 Accommodation: Recommend staying near Kyoto JR Station for convenience. You can walk to the hotel as soon as you arrive in Kyoto, avoiding the hassle of dragging luggage around. Most Japanese hotels allow check-in only after 15:00, so drop your luggage and start exploring beforehand.#日本旅行攻略 #週末遊 #境外遊 #京都 #京都旅行 #境外遊 #嵐山

Catching sunset at Kiyomizudera
We love Kyoto for its architecture as well as its rich history. Walking our way up to Kiyomizudera just before its closing time around 5:30pm and we were so delighted to catch the golden hour here.
The sunset shine beautifully on the temple and its surroundings.
It is interesting to know that most of Kiyomizudera’s buildings have been destroyed numerous times due to fire, and have been rebuilt again and again. Most of the present structure were reconstructed in 1633. Kiyomizudera Temple was registered on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List as one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto as well.

Japan 🇯🇵 Kyoto Kiyomizu-dera Temple Check-in Guide ⛩️
On the weekend, the weather is neither cold nor hot. I went hiking with my mom at Kiyomizu Temple. 🏃🏻
The weekend is really crowded, as expected of the most famous temple in Kyoto. There are so many people that it's hard to walk. The ticket 🎫 design of Kiyomizu Temple is different in different seasons. Now it's cherry blossom 🌸 season and it costs 400 💰/person. Half a day is enough!
Ei Nen Zaka and San Nen Zaka dessert shop is very good, matcha 🍵 and sweet potato 🍠 are recommended.
The Totoro Republic is great for strolling around, bought a lot of small things and love them all.
%Coffee, Snoopy, and other internet-famous shops are also worth checking in.~
There are many Kyoto limited souvenirs in the gift shop, such as clothing, fridge magnets, decorations, and so on.
⛩️Kiyomizu-dera Temple (15-minute walk from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station)
After visiting the Kiyomizu-dera Temple, you can take a good stroll through the Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka streets.
Yasaka Pagoda and Shingendo are popular tourist attractions, as well as filming locations for Detective Conan movie 🎬.

The temple is best known for its stunning natural scenery, which viewed from the verandah off the temple's main building (The Stage), give visitors panoramas of the surrounding forest and city view.
Absolutely a great place to take pictures with picturesque background especially in cherry blossoms season.
Besides that, the streets in Sannenzaka are lined by souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants, also quite interesting to explore!

Kiyomizu-dera Temple
Kiyomizu-dera Temple is a Buddhist temple in Kyoto famous for its large wooden terrace. It has been added to UNESCO world heritage sites in 1994. Right away you will notice its stunning architecture, contrasting with the surrounding mountains. When you visit its wooden stage, you will see numerous coloured trees below, as well as of the city of Kyoto in the distance.
The ticket is just 400JPY and it took me about an hour to walk through the temple grounds. It is one of the must-see attractions in Kyoto, so expect lots of groups of tourists, or come early in the morning for a more relaxed experience.
Right after your visit to the temple, take a walk through the beautiful Philosopher's path, which I posted about separately.

Autumn in Kyomizu-dera, Kyoto🍁
One of the most favorite places in Kyoto, Kiyomizu-dera is a Buddhist temple located in eastern Kyoto. The temple is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage site.
Kiyomizu-dera is best known for its wooden stage that juts out from its main hall, 13 meters above the hillside. The stage affords nice views of the numerous cherry and maple trees below that erupt in a sea of color in spring and fall, as well as of the city of Kyoto in the distance.

Hatsumōde at Kiyomizu-dera ⛩️
Have you experienced Hatsumōde in Japan?
Hatsumōde is a popular Japanese tradition that involves people visiting shrines and temples during the New Year holidays. Kiyomizu-dera is one of the most popular places in Japan to practice this tradition in. It can be very busy so I suggest going early to avoid crowds.

Thousand-year-old city Kyoto, visited the same Kiyomizu Temple as Conan.
⛩️
Taking the JR from Osaka Station to Kyoto only took a little over half an hour, very convenient.
Arriving in Kyoto, I went straight to Kiyomizu Temple, where you can overlook the entire cityscape of Kyoto.
Missed the cherry blossoms of spring and the colorful autumn leaves, leaving some regrets for next time.
Even though it's not the most beautiful season in Kyoto right now, many people still come here. You can also draw a fortune slip at Kiyomizu Temple. It is said that the accuracy of seeking marriage here is very high. It only costs 100 yen to draw a fortune slip. I drew a great fortune, and I was so happy. Although it may not be completely accurate, it is a kind of happy psychological comfort.

Get the right time and weather @Kiyomizu-dera
please go there earlier so that you’ll be able to get a view without too many people at the background. I reached at about 930am in the morning and it was already packed with visitors.
but nonetheless the view was breathtaking. good weather, good stroll. there is a recommended spot by tourists and local guides online so do snatch a good spot before you take the picture. winter is coming so probably the maple leaves will be gone

Looking at the color of Autumn 🍂🍁
I went to Kyoto with friends, and Kiyomizu-Dera was on our itinerary.
Kiyomizu means clear water or pure water. It is located in eastern Kyoto, on the foothills of Mount Otowa at the site of the Otowa Waterfall and that's how it derives its name.
Kiyomizu-Dera is a Buddhist temple, and the temple's present building was constructed in 1633. There is not a single nail used in the entire structure. The temple is part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Since it's located on the foothill, we need a hike to reach the site. Wearing kimono, and walking up the hill was really something worth doing. When reaching the main hall we feel so blessed. From 13 meters above the hillside, we eyewitness the lovely rich color of the trees. It's colorful, some have turned to the color of autumn, yellow, orange, and red.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple
Many temples in Kyoto have high admission fees, but Kiyomizu-dera is also wonderful because it is reasonably priced. There are many payment counters, and I'm used to it.
Ninen-zaka and Sannen-zaka also have a lot of changes in shops, so it's fun no matter how many times you go.
It's a pity that the construction is done somewhere whenever I go, but even so, the major construction of the stage of Kiyomizu is built on wooden scaffolding, and even if it is seen from that point of view, it is unusual in itself. It may be fun.

A Temple Built a Thousand Year Ago
Kiyomizu-dera temple located in Kyoto is a popular place of worship for the locals. It is considered a very holy place by buddhist Japanese. In fact, locals outside of Tokyo would intend to visit the temple to offer prayers of thanksgiving.
The temple really exudes tranquility and peace one reason perhaps is that it sits on a mountain.
So from the bus stop you have to walk your way up for 15-20 minutes to get to the temple. But worry less since the road is paved with concrete (I guess). And along are shops, restaurants, and cafes. Make sure to try their matcha soft cream. We even got a complimentary green tea. 😊
When at the temple please pay respect by minimizing your voice and not rushing to just pass through it.
