Fengjie | Kuimen
| Kuimen. ◾️Kuimen is known for its majestic scenery. Also called Qutang Pass, it is the western gate of the Three Gorges and the gateway to the Sichuan Basin. The design on the back of the fifth series of the 10-yuan RMB note is taken from Kuimen.
◾️The peaks on both sides of Kuimen are Chijia Mountain and Baiyan Mountain. Under the sunlight, Chijia Mountain appears slightly red, while Baiyan Mountain looks grayish-white. They face each other across the river, one in red and the other in white, creating a unique spectacle. Hence, the ancients described it as 'Chijia's sunny glow' and 'Baiyan's dawn color.'
◾️The peaks on both sides of Kuimen are steep and rise abruptly, forcing the mighty Yangtze River into a narrow strip that winds through the deep valley. The river here is only 100-200 meters wide, with the narrowest point being just a few dozen meters. The main peaks on both sides can reach heights of 1000-1500 meters. The river flows swiftly through the deep gorge, with continuous mountain ranges forming a magnificent landscape painting.
◾️From different angles, the grandeur of Kuimen is equally evident. The best viewing point of Kuimen is from Shicheng Road, where you can have a distant view of Kuimen. From Baidi City, you get the best viewing angle of Kuimen. From Chijia Tower, you can see Kuimen Gorge up close. From the peak of the Three Gorges, you can overlook the entire gorge from a bird's-eye view.
