#tripaway If you love the view of traditional Japanese street, Kurashiki would be the best place for you. I would suggest you to Walk while enjoying the fresh air and breathtaking view of the classical architecture building alongside the Kurashiki Canal. The canal, bridge, alley, and buildings remind me of old Japanese movies. I was lucky to see a few swans and fishes swimming happily in the canal. Truth be told, I was enchanted by the scenic and wonderful view. At night, the street lights brighten up the place more. The most interesting part is we can see the light and building reflected on the canal. Awesome, right?

In the Kurashiki area, take the Shinkansen from Osaka to Okayama, then take the regular express train from Okayama JR Station to the Kurashiki Station, and take the train station for 15 minutes.
In the Edo period, it belonged to the Tianling directly under the jurisdiction of the Tokugawa shogunate. At that time, it was a transportation hub for materials. Now it seems to be like the Xitang of Wuzhuang, Zhouzhuang, our Jiangnan water town. It is not like a small garden or willow. The small bridges, the fine stone roads, the tourists who take the manpower boats, the Japanese couples who enjoy the sunshine quietly, the pictures are beautiful. I heard that the cherry blossom season is more dreamy than the pink cherry blossoms on both sides of the river.

A Relaxing Trip to Kurashiki
It takes about 10 minutes on foot from Kurashiki Station to reach the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. Traditional Japanese houses line the streets, and the sound of the willow trees swaying by the river soothes the soul. There are souvenir shops and restaurants, attracting tourists from all over the country. At 10:00 AM, I visited a sweets shop called Kurashiki Momoko right as it opened and enjoyed a grape parfait. On weekdays, you can likely enter without waiting in line. At night, the main street is dimly lit by street lamps, and the alleys become completely dark, so please be cautious.

Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter
The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter was originally a key port town during the Edo period, and to this day, it still retains a series of white-walled, earthen storehouses and residences, old warehouses, and merchant buildings from that era. It's like stepping back into the streets of the Edo period. Along the Kurashiki River, willow trees enhance the rich Japanese-style colors of the waterside landscape, creating an irreplaceable atmosphere unique to Kurashiki. With every step, there is a scene from the past, and the retro-flavored streets of Kurashiki are home to many century-old shops selling sake and traditional Japanese sweets. However, don't just skim the surface; a little exploration will reveal many warehouses and old shops that have been transformed into stylish cafes, dessert shops, and general stores. The area also hides museums that house precious cultural artifacts and artworks in its alleys, including the Ohara Museum of Art, established in 1930 to display valuable works by famous painters such as El Greco, the French Impressionists Gauguin, Monet, and others. There are cultural facilities such as a classical music box museum and the Torajiro Kojima Memorial Museum; or you can visit the Kurashiki Ivy Square to experience pottery, a former rice warehouse from the late Edo period in Japan that has been converted to display over 15,000 pieces of folk art including ceramics, glass, and lacquerware at the Kurashiki Folkcraft Museum, and the Kurashiki Archaeological Museum, which collects Japanese Paleolithic, Jomon, Yayoi, and other era stone and bronze artifacts.

Okayama is the hometown of Momotaro
🐕Okayama Prefecture is famous for its rural scenery, where Kurashiki and picturesque canals are located. It is also convenient to go to Naoshima and Shodoshima from Okayama.
.
🐒Okayama Prefecture is also known as the 'Hometown of Momotaro'. Momotaro is a child who popped out of a peach core. With the help of monkeys, pheasants, and puppies, he defeated the man-eating monsters. There is a statue of Momotaro in the square of Okayama Railway Station (Figure 3️⃣), and the most popular souvenir in Okayama is also Momotaro's favorite dessert—millet dumplings🍡
.
🐓The must-see attractions in Okayama Prefecture include:
🍑Korakuen: One of the three major gardens in Japan.
🍑Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter: The capital of Japanese cultural heritage. It takes 15 minutes to get there from Okayama Station by JR Sanyo Main Line or Hakubi Line.
🍑Okayama Castle: Located on the opposite side of Korakuen, it is a five-story six-layer building and one of the oldest castles in Japan.
🍑Day trips to Naoshima, Shodoshima, Teshima, and Inujima.
🍑Tsuruyama: Tsuruyama Park under the ruins of Tsuyama Castle is an excellent place for cherry blossom viewing in Okayama.

Offbeat Japan| Half-day tour in Kurashiki
|Half-day tour in Kurashiki.
💫During the National Day holiday, travel to Kansai, Japan, after visiting Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe, why not go further west to visit Kurashiki in Okayama Prefecture.
🚎Kurashiki is a ten-minute drive from Okayama City. Generally, when traveling to Okayama, half a day or a day is reserved for it.
🌿The Bikan area can't say there are any iconic attractions, but it's quite comfortable to stroll around leisurely.
✨I was amazed by the beautiful water town style of the Bikan area. The atmosphere of the Edo period also left a deep impression. So much so that when I later saw the white-walled buildings with stone bridges and small rivers in the Edo period films, I thought they were filmed in Kurashiki~ I went again at night to see the lighting event and the silhouette play 'Spring Night Years'.
🛶Take a boat tour of the Kurashiki River, and see several newlyweds, which is also a unique sight~
-
🖼If you like to visit art galleries, the Ohara Museum of Art has a collection of works by many great artists such as Monet, Rodin, Picasso, etc. There are also Kurashiki Toy Museum, Safe Museum, Archaeological Museum, Insect Museum, Japanese Folk Toy Museum, etc.
-
🛍Walk around and shop, there are many shops where you can find denim clothing and products, because the Kojima area of Kurashiki is the birthplace of Japanese denim~ This is also the birthplace of washi tape, with several stationery stores.
🐱Friends who like kittens and Shugo can go to see the Dog and Cat House, all of which are related products. Nearby there are Shiba Inu Coffee, Cat Coffee and Owl Coffee!
-
🍨Food recommendation: Okayama is famous for its peaches, don't miss it when you see white peaches!
🍑Kurashiki's dessert shop Kurashiki Peach has four branches, each with a different limited parfait, but both the appearance and taste are good~
It is said that blue is a color that reduces appetite... but there are blue ice cream and buns here, do you want to try it?
-
🏠Although there are several hotels and inns in front of Kurashiki Station and in the Bikan area, I personally think it is more convenient to choose Okayama for accommodation.
🚎Transportation: Take the train from Okayama Station to Kurashiki Station, and walk to the Bikan area for about ten minutes.

Autumn leaves in Kurashiki
🍂 Kurashiki is a small city in the southern part of Okayama Prefecture, Japan. It takes 15 minutes to get there by taking the JR Sanyo Line or Hakubi Line from Okayama Station. Another 15-minute walk will take you to the famous Kurashiki Bikan area. The Bikan area has been the center of Kurashiki since ancient times, and the prosperous shipping industry brought by the Kurashiki River made this place wealthy early on.
🍁 Kurashiki City has preserved buildings from the Edo period. In 1968, the 'Kurashiki City Traditional Beauty Preservation Ordinance' was enacted, and the government and citizens have worked together to maintain these old buildings intact to this day. In 1979, the Kurashiki Bikan area was designated as a 'Traditional Building Group Preservation Area'.
🍂 Kurashiki is beautiful in summer, with greenery everywhere, and girls are walking around in yukata and geta. However, this autumn trip to Kurashiki, the autumn leaves are also very beautiful.

Japan's "Jiangnan Water Town" small fresh harvester ~ Kurashiki
Speaking of Japan's small fresh land, Kurabo is definitely one of the best! It is like a "Jiangnan Water Town", and it is a boat ride in the streets of the Edo period. Looking at the weeping willows on both sides of the river, I cant wait to see a poem!
Kurashiki is not far from Okayama, and JR can be reached! The main place to visit is its "beautiful area"! The whole beautiful area is not big, and the beautiful private art museum - Ohara Art Museum is also here! Everyone can spend a long time in the beautiful area, and there are many authentic snacks to taste!
Kangfu Another place worth visiting is the Hezhishan Park. You can go up the mountain from the beautiful area along the Achi Shrine and overlook the entire Kurashiki area!
Transportation: Take JR from Okayama to Kurashiki Station and walk for 15 minutes to the beautiful area! The entire warehouse can take a day to visit!
Photo guide: Kurashiki is very small and fresh, you can dress as elegant as possible, like the kimono's sister paper can also rent a kimono to take photos here!

A shallow river flows through the river where Kurashiki is beautiful
Kurashiki, and there are many old buildings on both sides. Nowadays, most of them have become shops selling goods.
I personally like the place with water. I always feel that water can bring more feminine beauty to a place. Among them, the Da Yuan Art Museum, the Municipal Art Museum, the Archaeological Museum, and the Salt Industry History Museum are located in the city. The culture and literature here are a little bit of history accumulated over the past 100 years. After time fermentation, it has become as rich as old wine.
This is very different from many "old towns" in China. There is no such thing as a glimpse that was later rebuilt. Every building and every house retains its own inherited characteristics and can be integrated into contemporary culture.
Afternoon sun slanting, summer heat in the late summer is not so impetuous, stroll around the shallow river, feeding the swan in the water. The Iraqi people smiled back and seemed to have returned to their homes hundreds of years ago. The whole small town is set off against the bustling weekend atmosphere, but there is no lack of cute fun, but the things in the bones are not frivolous.
Maple.
Located in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, Kurashiki is a famous Japanese commercial street, located on the bank of the Kurashiki River. It is designated as an important historically protected building complex and is one of the only ancient towns in Japan. There are a lot of Japanese folklore in the shops on the street, and every one of them makes you love it.
This place has been a prosperous territory of the shogunate and a port of material transportation. It preserves the Meiji era from the time of the warrior administration to the Meiji era after the founding of the country. Kurashiki, which has not been developed by the transition, has a beautiful appearance and preserves the style of the Edo period in Japan. The willows are drooping, the waters are flowing, and the charm of China's Jiangnan water town is very good. Time seems to be stagnant here.
