A Journey Through Osaka's Rich Tapestry
In the heart of Osaka, Japan, lies a captivating journey that takes you from the nostalgic streets of Shinsekai to the bustling thoroughfares of Shinsaibashi. This exploration offers a fascinating glimpse into the city's cultural diversity, culinary delights, and vibrant energy.
Shinsekai: A Step Back in Time
Begin your adventure in Shinsekai, a district that embodies the essence of Osaka's history and charm. The name "Shinsekai" translates to "New World," and stepping into this neighborhood feels like a journey back in time.
Shinsekai was developed before World War II with the ambition to replicate the cities of Paris and New York. Although it's not an exact replica, the district exudes a unique blend of nostalgia and quirky charm. Stroll along the streets lined with pre-war architecture, illuminated by the warm glow of retro signs.
The iconic Tsutenkaku Tower stands as a symbol of Shinsekai's past and present. Ascend to its observation deck for panoramic views of the city, where modern Osaka stretches out before you while the district's retro allure remains intact.
Don't miss the chance to savor kushikatsu, a local specialty of skewered and deep-fried delights. Shinsekai is renowned for its kushikatsu restaurants, where you can sample an array of ingredients, from meats to vegetables, all expertly fried to perfection.
Nipponbashi Denden Town: A Haven for Geeks and Gamers
From Shinsekai, head north to Nipponbashi Denden Town, a district that caters to tech enthusiasts, gamers, and anime aficionados. Here, you'll find a bustling hub of electronics stores, manga shops, and specialty stores dedicated to all things otaku (pop culture fanatic).
Explore the shops filled with the latest gadgets, retro video games, and collectibles. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just curious, the vibrant atmosphere is infectious. Don't hesitate to chat with the friendly store owners, who are often passionate fans themselves.
Kuromon Market: A Culinary Odyssey
Continuing your journey, make your way to Kuromon Market, a culinary paradise that tantalizes the taste buds with an array of delectable treats. The market is a sensory explosion, with vendors selling everything from fresh seafood and street food to seasonal fruits and Japanese sweets.
Indulge in local delights like takoyaki (octopus balls), kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers), and oden (a simmered dish). Explore the stalls and sample a variety of flavors that showcase Osaka's rich culinary heritage.
Shinsaibashi: Shopping and Nightlife
Conclude your journey in Shinsaibashi, a bustling shopping district that combines traditional Japanese charm with modern elegance. Stroll along Shinsaibashi-suji, a covered shopping arcade that offers an array of shops, boutiques, and department stores. #japan #osaka #shinsekai #travel
Freshest Seafood in Osaka
When in Japan, visiting a local market is a must for fresh seafood and that was just what we did. Many familiar with Osaka would know of Kuramon Market with many stalls selling all sorts of produce and souvenirs. It was also just a 5 minutes from our hotel, Citadines Namba. Armed with empty tummies, we scouted the market for a place to settle our cravings. We stumbled upon Kouragumi Kuromon as they had a staff grilling all sorts of fresh seafood outside and we couldn’t resist the delicious smells. We ordered scallops, eel and sashimi bowls with fresh crab, uni and ikura. As expected, the seafood was extremely fresh and delicious. The restaurant also offered free barley tea for its patrons. That was a nice touch. It is also a foreigner friendly restaurant with English menus and friendly staff who understood English. Ordering was a breeze for us. Toilets were available too. Overall the price was a little steep, but one can expect that for fresh seafood in a touristy area. Do give this place a try when in Osaka.

Kuromon ichiba market 🇯🇵
If you’re a lover of fish and good food, then visiting the Kuromon ichiba market in Osaka is a MUST! With streets of fresh fish ready to take home or cook and eat there is amazing! From raw fish to sushi, cooked fish, you’ll need to bring a couple thousand yen for the trip if you’re going to indulge.
I tried some fresh scallops, which were cooked infront of me and they were delicious. They also had other delicacies and some souvenirs, this is definitely worth a visit and will probably take you an hour to two hours to visit. #foodie #osaka #japan #food #seafoodfeast #urbanexplorer #awesomepic
Giant Size Seafood at Kuromon Market
Eat, eat and eat! Kuromon Market is famous for eating sashimi at a reasonable price. There are a lot of stores, and the price varies. I spent around JPY10K and spent the whole morning non-stop eating, sashimi, sushi, fresh fruits, potato chips, ice-cream, grilled seafood etc.
A small tips: Be there early if you want to skip the crowd and queue.

The biggest crab ever!
Stepping here for the first time, you immediately gonna smell great seafood from the street. The market was crowded by local people and visitors, as it popular with seafood stuff. But i don’t mind with that. Because I’m too excited to try big size of seafood with affordable price.
Many stalls selling raw/cooked fresh seafood. They will ask you to pick the seafood and they will cook it right away. You can just take away or dine in at some area provided. Surely, it is a fun trip for seafood lovers. Definitely will come again for the foods!

There are plenty of fruits, seafood, daily necessities, and cooked food available for purchase, especially those who like to eat fresh seafood and fish. Its a fun paradise. We will visit any fish market in Japan. Therefore Kuromon Market in Osaka is a must visit place. A great shopping haven for kitchenette and souvenirs as well.
Kuromon Market is a must-visit destination for any food lover visiting Osaka. During my recent trip to the city, I had the pleasure of exploring this bustling market and I was blown away by the variety and quality of the offerings.
We ordered an extra large shrimp and a king crab claw to dine-in at the bustling Kuromon Sanpei restaurant. You can either eat it as is or have it barbecued, and we chose the latter option.

Anything seafood in Osaka
Kuromon Icihiba is a must-visit destination if you like seafood and you're around Osaka. This is a lively covered market which stretches for 580 meters in Osaka’s Chuo Ward. Nicknamed “Osaka’s kitchen” because both local homeowners and restaurant chefs get their supplies here, the market is famous for its fresh seafood and has recently become a popular tourist location. As a result it can get quite crowded. One reason for the market’s popularity is that many stalls will prepare, cook and serve their food to you right on the spot. This makes it an excellent venue for strolling, sampling, and snacking on a delicious variety of fresh market foods.
In 2024, I want to go to another market in Osaka.

Had a blast at Kuromon Fish market with the best seafood!
Was famished and had a meal full with sashimi, fatty tuna, cod fish, fresh oysters, uni at one of the local shop. Walk along the path where you can see many selections, games, souvenirs shops, supermarket.
Worth a visit to spend around 2-3 hours here before heading for additional shopping nearby at Namba.

Funny because the only reason I went there was just to see what Wet Markets look like in Japan. We have a lot of Wet Markets back home in the Philippines, so I was wondering if Japan Wet Markets look the same. Well, unlike in PH, it was still a very neat and clean place. It is basically a Seafood Market, where all sorts of Seafood are for sale, such as Lobsters, Squid, Octopus, Fishes, and all types in between. There are also a lot of restaurants inside where you can eat freshly cooked Seafood dishes.

"Osaka"
1. [Harry Potter Butter Beer]
address
Osaka, the second largest city in Japan, is known as the Japanese Kitchen, and Osakas Black Gate Market is like an open-plan, ultra-large kitchen that displays enticing Osaka cuisine to visitors from all over the world.
Before the end of the Meiji period, the Black Gate market was once known as the "Yuanming Temple Market". Because there was a large temple called Yuanming Temple nearby, it was named after it. The black gate on the northeast side of the temple was especially famous at that time, and the "Yuanming Temple Market" gradually became the "Black Gate Market".
In this nearly 600-meter-long market, there are a total of 170 stores, mainly dealing with fresh and high-quality meat, eggs and vegetables, fruits and vegetables, and fresh seafood. The things you buy here can be eaten now, the quality is absolutely fresh, if you have a chance, you can also see the auction of tuna. A good friend, in addition to Dotonbori in Osaka, the Black Gate Market is definitely a place to gather food.
